No Substitutes for the Bigshots' Dream Girl Anymore!-Chapter 1926: Hayes Edwards Extra (83)
The sudden appearance of Hayes Edwards startled the boy, but he tried to keep his cool, saying, "Who are you? Can’t you see we’re talking?"
Hayes scoffed, resting his arm on the bike handlebar, "I’m her brother. Got a problem?"
The boy forced himself to stay calm, but his voice softened, "I never heard Grace had a brother!"
Hayes couldn’t be bothered with such childish and arrogant boys, turning to look at Grace Winter, "Grace Winter, get on the bike."
Grace apologized to the boy, "I need to go home now. Thanks for your kindness, we’re still classmates." Then she carefully held onto Hayes’s waist and got on the back seat of the bike.
Hayes glanced at the boy who looked disappointed, stepped on the bike, and rode away.
It was only a few minutes’ ride from the neighborhood gate to the base of the apartment building.
During those few minutes, Hayes asked, "Who was that boy just now?"
The wind was blowing at night, scattering and carrying voices back to the ears.
This was Grace Winter’s first time riding on the bike Hayes was pedaling, feeling a bit scared, she held tightly onto his waist and unconsciously lowered her voice, "Just a classmate."
Hayes didn’t hear clearly and asked again, "What?"
Grace moved forward slightly and raised her voice, "A classmate!"
This time Hayes heard her. He didn’t say anything more and prepared to do a nice drift when he remembered someone was on the back seat, so he obediently slowed down the bike and braked, extending a leg to support himself on the ground.
The bike stopped and as Grace Winter was about to get off, she heard Hayes calling her name, "Grace Winter."
"Huh?" She looked up in a daze at the back of his head.
Hayes turned around, the dim streetlight casting light and shadows on half of his face, clearly outlining his features, "You’re in your third year of junior high school."
Though it was a statement, Grace instinctively answered, "Yes."
He seemed to chuckle, and with a bit of a threatening tone said, "Do you know the school rules and regulations?"
Grace paused for a second before nodding again, "I know."
"Good." Hayes said, "Don’t do anything against the school rules and regulations."
Grace was a bit confused, but dutifully nodded and said, "Okay."
Hayes was satisfied, "Alright, get off the bike, unless you plan on sitting there forever."
Grace hurriedly got off the bike.
After that day, Grace Winter didn’t see Hayes Edwards for quite some time; the high school study life seemed really busy.
When they finally met again, it was at night.
Grace Winter was curious about the newly opened night market nearby, so she went to check it out herself. Across the street, Hayes was hanging out with some guys from the basketball team.
When Hayes saw Grace, he thought he was seeing things, and looked carefully for a while to make sure.
It was really Grace Winter.
The guys beside Hayes wanted to talk to him, but before they could say anything, Hayes had already gotten up and walked over to the other side of the street.
"What’s happening?"
The guys looked puzzled.
The night market was lively, it wasn’t too late yet, and the residents of nearby neighborhoods would habitually come here for walks or late-night snacks.
It was Grace Winter’s first time here, and she found everything fascinating.
Of course, seeing Hayes Edwards was even more surprising, "Hayes Edwards, what are you doing here?"
Hayes never thought she’d be so bold, daring to come out and wander around late at night.
After a while, Hayes’s teammates saw him leading a little girl over.
