No Substitutes for the Bigshots' Dream Girl Anymore!-Chapter 1910: Hayes Edwards Extra (67)
Although the air conditioning was on at home, Hayes Edwards was still sweating profusely.
He had never been this careful with his hair his whole life.
It’s really frustrating.
Really, truly frustrating.
Grace Winter even asked him, "Hayes, do you want some cake? I saved half for you."
The cake was prepared in advance by Mother Edwards and kept in the fridge as a dessert for them both at noon.
Hayes tightened his lips, "No, leave me alone."
He was very annoyed now, feeling like there was a fire burning right above his head.
"Okay then." Grace thought for a moment but still left the half-cut cake out.
By the time Grace’s hair was untangled, an hour and a half had passed.
Exhausted, Hayes lay down on the sofa, more tired than after a basketball game.
"It’s really all untangled!" Grace looked into the mirror, "Hayes, you’re amazing!"
Hayes let out a couple of cold laughs, "Next time this happens, I’ll just... I’ll cut it all off."
Meeting Grace’s gaze, he didn’t finish the sentence.
Forget it, what’s the point of arguing with a kid.
Probably because of what happened today, Grace now saw Hayes as having a skill in tying hair. The next time they went out to play and her hair became loose, she directly went to Hayes with a hair tie.
"Hayes, my hair is messy."
Hayes purposely snapped at her, "Your hair is messy, what does that have to do with me?"
"Can you help me tie my hair?" Grace looked up at him, clasping her hands together with a pleading expression, looking at him expectantly.
Hayes: "...You really think I can tie hair?"
Eventually, Hayes gave in to Grace’s gaze.
It was his first time seriously helping Grace tie her hair, although he had done it as a child, but that was to tease her.
A few minutes later, Hayes looked at the loosely tied braid that was about to fall apart, feeling annoyed, "Alright, that’s it!"
Grace wasn’t bothered at all and even seemed pleased, "Thank you, Hayes."
Hayes couldn’t even bear to look directly at her hairstyle, "Just this once! Next time, no more!"
"Alright." Grace nodded with a smile.
After that, Grace indeed didn’t ask Hayes to help tie her hair again, but Hayes couldn’t resist meddling on his own.
Especially when he saw Grace’s braid come undone and the sides were asymmetrical.
It was uncomfortable to look at.
Finally, as the physical education class was about to end, he called her over. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
Grace sat in front of him, looking down and poking the leaves on the ground with a stick. Hayes looked serious and focused, as if he were taking an exam, his movements a bit more skilled than before.
But the tied result was still not very good.
He simply took it all apart and tied a ponytail.
When Grace learned how to tie her own hair in the sixth grade, Hayes found it a bit unsettling.
At the end of the year, as the weather cooled down, it got dark especially quickly.
Today, it was Grace’s turn for classroom duty, but the others ran off quickly, casually moving the desks and chairs before running, "Class representative, could you please handle the trash?"
Grace chased after, "But if I’m alone..." she couldn’t take out the trash.
Before she could finish her sentence, a few boys were already gone, chasing each other playfully.
The sky was dim and gloomy, seemingly hinting at an impending rain.
In the class, taking out the trash usually required two students, but if it was just one person, even carrying the trash can downstairs was difficult.
And the sixth-grade classroom was on the fifth floor.
Grace felt a bit troubled, she tried several times but couldn’t manage.
