No Substitutes for the Bigshots' Dream Girl Anymore!-Chapter 1874: Hayes Edwards Side Story (31)
"Hayes, want to join us?"
Without thinking, Hayes straight-up refused, "I’m not going."
Grace Winter isn’t a three-year-old child who needs constant supervision at school.
Even today before leaving the house, Father Edwards and Mother Edwards kept reminding him to take care of Grace Winter.
Annoying!
"Alright then, I’ll go by myself," said Chubby as he was about to leave, noticing something he added, "Hayes, your book seems to be upside down."
Hayes: "...I just like reading upside down, is that not allowed!"
During the break after the next class, Chubby and a few other boys were planning to go check up on Grace Winter and support her.
To let other students know she had plenty of third-grade brothers, so no one would dare to bully her.
Of course, Chubby asked Hayes once more before going.
Hayes certainly chose not to go. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Support the little tagalong?
He couldn’t wait to shake her off!
"Then we’ll just go ourselves."
After speaking, Chubby and a few boys went down the stairs laughing and chatting, until their voices were no longer audible, Hayes then irritably threw the book in his hand.
As a few classmates looked over, he stared back fiercely.
Everybody quickly turned away.
When Chubby came to the entrance of first grade class six, Grace Winter was playing cat’s cradle with her desk mate.
Everyone was new to the class and got along quite well, those seated close together easily played together.
Chubby didn’t feel right going in, so he stopped a boy, asking him to help call Grace Winter out.
The boy had a loud voice, walked in a few steps, just reached the lectern and shouted, "Grace Winter, someone is looking for you."
The shout made everyone look over.
Grace Winter was quite popular in the new class, one reason being she was pretty, the other was her gentle personality, seeming very approachable.
Seeing Chubby and the others, Grace Winter was quite happy.
Only she looked around and didn’t see Hayes Edwards.
"Did Junior Hayes not come?" she asked cautiously, pursing her lips.
Chubby scratched his head, "I just called him, he said he’s not coming."
"Alright then," Grace Winter seemed a bit disappointed.
Chubby wanted to comfort her, so he proactively suggested, "Grace, you haven’t been to the school’s tuck shop yet, let me take you there and treat you to some instant noodles."
The school’s tuck shop was next to the athletic field, not very large, a bit old-looking, yet it had plenty of snacks inside, ranging from fifty cents to a few dollars.
At the entrance, there were two big freezers, half filled with water, the rest with ice cream.
The closest to the tuck shop was their teaching building, while students in the other two buildings could only visit during physical education class or big recess.
Luckily, it was currently big recess, and the tuck shop was packed with people.
Even middle school students came to buy stuff.
Chubby brought Grace Winter, barely squeezing through the crowd.
Instant noodles came in two types, fifty cents and one dollar, regardless, both were popular items in the tuck shop.
The shelves were running low, Chubby quickly reached out to grab them, "Good thing we came early, or they would be bought out by others."
He took two packs of the one-dollar kind.
"Brother Harry, is this really tasty?" Grace Winter had never tried it before.
Chubby patted his chest and guaranteed, "Absolutely delicious, if I’m lying I’m a puppy!"
Outside the tuck shop were tables and chairs, but they were already full of people.
