No Substitutes for the Bigshots' Dream Girl Anymore!-Chapter 1856: Hayes Edwards Side Story (13)
They were all sitting inside the supermarket carts.
"Never tried it."
Grace Winter leaned over a bit, as if whispering, "When you get a bit older and can eat spicy sticks, could you share some with me?"
Hayes Edwards didn’t know what she was talking about, nor did he plan to understand her line of thought. He replied perfunctorily, "Sure."
Grace Winter cheered happily, "Yay!"
When Father Winter glanced over, she covered her mouth, her eyes curving into crescents like the moon.
Since it was just a kindergarten spring outing, they couldn’t bring too much food.
Grace Winter’s backpack was a small one, almost full after just packing two bags of chips.
But she was still trying to stuff more in.
Mother Winter laughed, "Didn’t you always like jelly, Grace? We’ll just bring jelly then."
Jelly is smaller; you can pack a lot of them.
Grace Winter pouted, struggling to stuff things into her backpack until she was almost sweating, "No."
"Why not?"
Mother Winter wondered if her daughter recently took a liking to chips, as her interests changed quickly.
But Grace said, "Hayes Edwards likes chips, I’m bringing them for him."
Mother Winter shook her head with a smile.
Her daughter was just like her, attracted to handsome faces, otherwise, she wouldn’t have let Hayes’s family into their home back then.
Grace really did want to bring chips for Hayes, but after stuffing in three bags, she realized she couldn’t fit her jelly anymore, so she took them out.
Ultimately, her own favorites mattered more.
The next day at school, everyone gathered in the classroom, and after the roll call, they set out together.
Grace Winter, with her small backpack and a sun hat, stood at the front of the line.
The older kids gathered on the other side.
When the bus arrived, everyone lined up to get on.
Hayes Edwards was chatting with Chubby when they heard the teacher call his name and say, "Your sister is here."
Grace Winter stood next to the teacher, her round face under the sun hat looking like a cute and soft doll.
Chubby was excited, "Hayes, is your sister here to see you?"
Of course she was.
The teacher called Hayes over, "Your sister wants to sit with you, take care of her."
"Hayes Edwards, I’m here to see you." Grace hugged her doll, giving him a sweet smile.
Hayes was annoyed, but he had to hold Grace’s hand and walk back to the line.
The older kids were familiar with Grace and greeted her warmly.
Especially Chubby.
As soon as he saw Grace, he greeted her with a big smile, "Grace, do you remember your chubby brother?"
Grace responded to him, "Hello, chubby brother."
Chubby chatted happily with Grace, really treating her like his little sister.
Hayes snorted, his expression chilly.
When they got on the bus, the teacher arranged for Hayes and Grace to sit together.
Since it was a two-person seat, Chubby had to sit behind, but that didn’t stop him from chatting with Grace.
The two chatted all the way, completely ignoring Hayes.
Previously, when Grace clung to him, he was unhappy, but now that she wasn’t, he was still unhappy.
Very unhappy!
"Hey, Grace Winter." Hayes finally spoke up.
Grace immediately looked over and sweetly responded, "Hayes Edwards, what’s up?"
Suddenly, he had nothing to say.
