Nine Revolutions Star Transformation-Chapter 56: Sima Jingyi’s Mission
At this moment, the news of the two major families, the Liu Family and the Chu Family, clashing was spreading wildly in Liuyun City. Particularly, the event of Chu Linfeng defeating a master of the Earth Martial Realm had become a household tale.
In the City Lord’s Mansion, a middle-aged man in a white robe was angrily reprimanding a young girl wearing a veil.
"Jingyi, how could you let the City Lord’s Mansion lose a master with the strength of the Third Level of Earth Martial Realm for the sake of a boy from the Chu Family? Do you realize what a great loss this is to the City Lord’s Mansion?"
"Father, a master of the Third Level of Earth Martial Realm is important, of course, but if we can recruit an unparalleled genius, then such a master would be insignificant."
"What do you mean by that?"
"Do you know what his strength is? If you know his current strength yet know that he defeated a master of the Third Level of Earth Martial Realm, perhaps you would feel it was the right choice for your daughter to act this way, even if losing a few more would still be worth it."
The middle-aged man looked at his daughter with suspicion. He was very familiar with her character—steady, seasoned, and decisive. This was why he trusted her to host the family competition.
"What is his strength? Don’t tell me he has already reached the Third Level of Earth Martial Realm. If that’s the case, it’s not so remarkable. With enough spirit medicine, reaching that level at his age is normal."
"Haha, if it were the strength of the Earth Martial Realm, I naturally wouldn’t do this. But he possesses the strength of just the Fifth Layer of the Black Tortoise Realm, and with such strength, he defeated a master of the Third Level of Earth Martial Realm. Do you think it’s worth it?"
"Fifth Layer of Black Tortoise Realm? How is that possible?" The middle-aged man’s mouth was agape with surprise, enough to fit an egg; this completely overturned the power hierarchy of this world.
"Many impossible things exist. He is the possibility among the impossibilities." Sima Jingyi smiled immediately upon seeing her father’s astonished expression.
"Jingyi, are you telling the truth? Is there really such a genius in Liuyun City?"
"How could I deceive you? While you were away, Chu Linfeng has practically become a household name. His performance in the family competition has touched every single person’s heart."
Sima Jingyi then told Sima Pingchang, the City Lord of Liuyun City, all about Chu Linfeng’s exploits on the arena and the confrontation with Elder Wu.
After listening to Sima Jingyi, the shock and disbelief remained etched on Sima Pingchang’s face for a long time.
After a long pause, he finally said, "Jingyi, we must recruit such a genius at all costs, even if it means you must agree to be his wife."
Sima Jingyi’s face changed; she didn’t expect her father to value the boy so highly. Unfortunately, he already has a fiancée; being his wife would mean being a concubine?
"Father, he already has a fiancée, so I think we should forget about this method." Sima Jingyi said somewhat helplessly. As for Chu Linfeng, she didn’t know what her attitude was—perhaps a mixture of love and hate.
"Who is the girl? Could she be prettier than my daughter? Such a genius must be roped in, and maybe one day I can rely on him to enter the Royal City. Even if it means being a concubine, he must be recruited."
Sima Pingchang’s tone was quite harsh. After so many years in this small Liuyun City, it was time to leave, and the emergence of Chu Linfeng was key.
Sima Jingyi remained silent, struggling within her heart over whether to heed his words and go all out to establish a good relationship with Chu Linfeng.
After a moment, she made up her mind and said, "Father, I know what to do. Your daughter takes her leave!"
...
The time of joyful gathering was fleeting. The Celestial Dragon Academy is thousands of miles away from Liuyun City. Although it wasn’t difficult to arrive within a month, unexpected delays could happen.
On this day, Chu Linfeng and Lin Ruoxi prepared to head to the Celestial Dragon Academy. The entire Chu Family came to bid farewell, as Lin Quan had already left with the Lin Family due to some family business.
Early in the morning, the two of them, surrounded by the crowd, arrived outside the mansion.
"Feng’er, learn to take care of yourself outside. Be cautious in everything and don’t make yourself conspicuous; act with discretion. Take good care of Ruoxi. Father will wait for you to bring back surprises." Chu Yuanba said reluctantly.
"Father, I understand. Don’t worry, I will take good care of Ruoxi. You should also take care of your health; when your son returns, let’s continue to enjoy family happiness!"
"Young Master, take care of yourself; I’ll wait for your return!" Lin Yanran mustered the courage to say what she most wanted to say as she looked at Chu Linfeng.
Chu Linfeng’s mind was in turmoil, seeing Lin Yanran’s lingering, reluctant expression and tearful face,
he seemed to understand something.
However, he found it unbelievable and, taking a deep breath, said to Lin Yanran, "Yanran, don’t worry, I will come back! Take care of the Patriarch for me!"
Parting is sorrowful; Chu Linfeng didn’t want to linger longer, so he left without looking back, taking Lin Ruoxi and a few Chu Family attendants with him.
"Liuyun City, I wonder when I will return. Father, uncles, brothers, and sisters of the Chu Family, take care!" He murmured to himself.
Traveling with the Scale Remover Valve, there were a total of three attendants, and with Lin Ruoxi, they were five people. They traveled nonstop for over twenty days and stopped when they were two hundred miles from the Celestial Dragon Academy because the sky suddenly darkened.
"Young Master, it’s going to rain. There is a small town up ahead; shall we go there to take shelter from the rain?" one of the attendants suggested.
"Alright, everyone quicken the pace to reach the town before the heavy rain starts. Let’s have some food; it’s been hard on everyone these days. Let’s spend the night there!"
They finally reached the town just as the heavy rain was about to pour down, quickly finding a reasonably decent inn.
"Guests, dining or staying?" the errand boy greeted the incoming guests hastily.
"We’ll eat and stay. Do you have good rooms? Prepare three rooms. And bring out your best dishes." One attendant instructed.
"Alright, just a moment, guests." The errand boy hurried off to prepare.
By now, the dark clouds in the sky had thickened, and flashes of lightning occasionally streaked across the void.
With a "boom," a huge bolt of lightning appeared above the small town, illuminating it as if it were daytime.
Immediately, the sullen sky began to pour heavy rain. Sitting by the window, Chu Linfeng watched the torrential downpour and fell into contemplation.
Lin Ruoxi remained silent, seemingly lost in thought as well, creating a very peaceful atmosphere.
The heavy rain outside made the streets of the small town less populated. The errand boy had already closed the shop door, as no business was likely to come in this eerie weather.
The dishes quickly arrived at the table, and the five of them began their meal, with Chu Linfeng occasionally placing food into Lin Ruoxi’s bowl, his caring affection evident.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, followed by a woman’s voice, "Open the door, open the door, is there any room? We need a place to stay."
The shopkeeper was calculating the accounts at the counter, and upon hearing customers, he hurriedly called out to the errand boy, "Xiao Liuzi, aren’t you going to open the door? We have customers, why are you dawdling?"
