Nine Revolutions Star Transformation-Chapter 454 - 468: Valley of Despair Martial Tournament
Chu Linfeng at this moment truly realized the power of the Soul Slash. With this Martial Skill, he had an added assurance. In front of a Saint Martial Realm expert, a single sword strike would fully place him in an undefeated position.
However, Chu Linfeng knew that after performing this move, the Chaotic Dragon Power would be nearly drained. At that point, killing the opponent would be impossible. The only thing he could do would be to escape.
Chu Linfeng then slowly practiced this sword technique in his mind. He felt that at this moment, what the sword emitted was not Sword Qi, but the Power of Soul, using the Power of Soul to control the sword to damage the opponent’s soul.
Perhaps the greater his Soul Power, the more evident the harm to the opponent might be. However, this Power of Soul was not so easy to enhance.
After rehearsing the move hundreds of times in his mind, Chu Linfeng became intimately familiar with its execution, then slowly opened his eyes with a hint of an insidious smile on his face.
Upon walking out of the room, disciples immediately came up to greet him, saying, "Young Master, you finally completed your seclusion. The Palace Master is very eager to meet you now."
Chu Linfeng felt perplexed and asked, "What exactly has happened? Why does the Palace Master want to see me?"
"Have you forgotten what day it is now? Tomorrow is the Martial Arts Tournament between the Major Sects. If you only come out of seclusion tomorrow, you might miss this tournament," the disciple said.
"You mean I have been in this room for almost a month?" Chu Linfeng asked in surprise, feeling as if it had only been a matter of days.
"Not almost a month, it’s been a month and three days. You should hurry to see the Palace Master; she has something to tell you." The disciple said hurriedly.
Chu Linfeng nodded and followed the Carefree Palace disciple to a large hall above, where the Carefree Palace Master was pacing back and forth, clearly a bit anxious.
"Greetings, Palace Master. May I ask why the Palace Master summoned Lin Feng?" Chu Linfeng asked directly.
"Your breakthrough this time took a whole month, which truly was unexpected. How did it feel when the Tears of Heartache took effect? Wasn’t it quite unbearable?" said the Carefree Palace Master.
"Indeed, it was very uncomfortable. When will the Palace Master give me the Gloomy Spirit Spring? This kind of suffering is truly unbearable," Chu Linfeng said, shocked within. He hadn’t felt any pain at all. The month had passed unknowingly; it seemed the poison from the Tears of Heartache had long been neutralized, unbeknownst to him.
Chu Linfeng went along with the flow, appearing to be controlled by her and listening to her words. This approach might even lead him to win the Saintess Qing Ruming.
"The Martial Arts Tournament begins tomorrow. I have registered you as a disciple of the Green Frost Sect. I hope you remember what I said; even if you can’t kill those from the Dark Divine Hall, you must severely incapacitate them. Also, make sure that Feiyu takes first place at the end," the Carefree Palace Master said.
"I understand. Since I promised you, I will certainly keep my word. I hope that after this the Palace Master will consider the issue of Qing Ruming. After all, her being with Feiyu will only harm her. I believe the Palace Master wouldn’t be so foolish," Chu Linfeng said.
"I have already discussed Rumeng’s issues with her. How to choose is her own matter, and I do not wish to interfere. For now, the most urgent thing is to quickly reach the Martial Arts Tournament; other matters can be talked about later!" the Carefree Palace Master said, then turned around and left.
Chu Linfeng followed her out of the hall directly to a Teleportation Array, where the Carefree Palace Master said, "This Teleportation Array directly sends to the Valley of Despair. This time, the Martial Arts Tournament is being held at the Valley of Despair."
Then she entered the Teleportation Array. The array was very small, allowing only one person to be transported at a time, so Chu Linfeng had to wait for the Carefree Palace Master to leave before being teleported.
Once he entered the Teleportation Array, a massive pull arose, making Chu Linfeng feel the wind howling by his ears and then finding himself in a mountainous valley crowded with people.
Actually, this Teleportation Array was set up temporarily just to allow Chu Linfeng to make it in time. If he hadn’t come out of seclusion today, the Carefree Palace Master would have forced him to come out.
Chu Linfeng scanned the crowd around him, noticing that the Carefree Palace Master had already vanished. He decided not to inquire further and slowly mingled into the crowd.
The real contests were to be held the next day. At this moment, many participants from the Major Sects were on the stage sparring with each other, all using styles that stopped before causing harm. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Chu Linfeng took a large circle but didn’t find anyone familiar, eventually leaving the crowd to choose a quiet place to reflect.
This vast valley called the Valley of Despair had a somewhat sorrowful feeling to its name. Chu Linfeng remembered that none of the Nine Major Sects mentioned the valley in their introductions, wondering why it was given such a name.
As Chu Linfeng lowered his head in thought, not far from him walked over a young man in black, clean-cut and with an agreeable presence—a strikingly elegant appearance as he approached Chu Linfeng.
When he reached five meters in front of Chu Linfeng, he stopped, as the youth’s presence gave him a sense of danger, a feeling derived not from superficial observation but from his own unique perception.
Chu Linfeng naturally noticed the young man in black too. He raised his head, glanced at the youth, then felt a sudden unease, for this youth similarly gave off a dangerous aura.
"Could he be from the Dark Divine Hall? This person is definitely not simple. I must handle this carefully," Chu Linfeng thought to himself immediately.
Their eyes briefly met, quickly breaking contact, but that glance left a deep impression on each other. The youth in black gave a slight smile before turning and leaving.
Chu Linfeng was not eager to provoke the opponent, thinking that if it were indeed the person the Carefree Palace Master wanted him to kill, he would face him on the stage.
Soon, a voice, grand and echoing like a bell, sounded from above, "Welcome, distinguished disciples of the sects, to the sects’ Martial Arts Tournament. I am the Valley Master of the Valley of Despair. People have gathered in excessive numbers; our accommodations are limited and will only host distinguished figures from each sect. We seek your understanding."
These words did not sit well with the crowd, as everyone present was a core figure within their sect. Receiving preferential treatment over others was difficult to accept, and a middle-aged man expressed, "I’ve come all the way here for the tournament, already exhausted enough, but now there’s not even a place to rest. Whoever thought to host it here came up with a rotten idea."
"I planned to absorb enough Star Power overnight to prepare for tomorrow’s contest, but now there’s no place to cultivate. This Valley of Despair truly lives up to its name," someone chimed in.
Suddenly, voices of complaints arose from all around, predominantly blaming the Valley Master of Despair. Chu Linfeng felt the arrangement was quite sensible, as he was unfamiliar with anyone, and preferred solitude.
"I’ve been searching for you half the day. Never expected you’d be sitting here." A familiar voice appeared in Chu Linfeng’s ear...
