Night’s Nomenclature-Chapter 30: Ways to Earn Money
Everyone's attention was focused on the men in black as they pulled up to the school.
Not only did the students in Qing Chen's class, but those from the other side of the building also gathered next to their windows to witness what was about to go down.
It wasn't the students’ fault for being curious about this.
When Qing Chen first met these people, his initial reaction was about the same.
This organized and predatory appearance on their bodies made them stand out like a sore thumb..
Qing Chen made sure that his body was out of sight by hiding behind Nan Gengchen, but fortunately, the men didn't even look over at his classroom.
Now Qing Chen saw that the school administrators even had to cooperate with their tasks, he was a little relieved, as these people must not be doing anything bad.
He felt a little relieved when he saw the school’s administrators cooperating with this task; however, as it meant what these people were doing couldn’t be anything bad or illegal.
After Liu Dezhu was taken away, he returned to his classroom in just a few hours.
During the break between the next class, all the students rushed to Liu Dezhu's classroom, asking him all sorts of questions about the dark-clothed men.
Liu Dezhu was just as confused as them, "I still have no idea who they are, all they told me was to not get in the way of their work.”
"What were they looking for?" asked a student.
"They first recorded my home address and emergency contacts," Liu Dezhu recalled, "They told me that I can’t leave Luo City and that there will be training service for all transmigrators in the future. It looked like they were still preparing, so there weren't many details given about that. ”
"Are there a lot of transmigrators in Luo City?" asked one of the students.
"I think so," said Liu Dezhu.
"What else did they ask? ”
"Oh," this made Liu Dezhu remember something, "They also showed me a picture of a person crossing an intersection, asking if I recognized who it was. The person seems to be also a teenager, but the picture was taken at night and the person's face is covered under a cap, so I couldn’t even see his face.”
While the other students were eagerly listening to Liu Dezhu tell his story, Qing Chen frowned.
The person they were looking for was him.
"What do they want from him?" A student asked.
"They said that he is also a transmigrator, appearing at another transmigrator's home," said Liu Dezhu, "They didn't try to hide from me, and they informed me that this teenager is a genius, comparable to none. If we ever see someone we suspect to be the person in the picture, we must notify them first and not approach ourselves. ”
Qing Chen was speechless. He didn't realize that this mysterious organization thought of him so highly. It must be that they were able to get the security camera footage at the intersection he crossed.
But why did they ask Liu Dezhu?
Before he could think further, another classmate asked the same question, "Why did they ask you? ”
"Oh, they said that because of the security camera footage, they knew the person must be living in the older area of the neighborhood, where most of the security cameras are broken and don’t work. As a result, they couldn’t track any further. ”
Qing Chen was relieved that they didn't coincidentally think that he was in this school, and he made the right choice for wearing a change of shirt that he hadn't worn for more than two years.
His efforts hadn't been in vain.
Liu Dezhu said, "They didn't just ask me. They suspect that this person goes to our school, so they also asked some of the teachers, but none of the teachers could tell from the picture either. ”
With the knowledge of a transmigrator hidden among them, all the students of Luo City Foreign Language School were pumped for the rest of the day.
During the break of every class, large groups of students would pretend to "pass by" Liu Dezhu's classroom.
Among them were some of the most beautiful girls in school, quietly whispering and giggling about. This greatly fulfilled Liu Dezhu's deep desires.
Nan Gengchen sat in his classroom and said as he looked outside, "I wish I could be like him, transmigrating to a key figure on the first trip. Maybe one day he could become a superman. Say, why do people's luck have to be so drastically different? ”
Qing Chen glanced at him. "Are you jealous? ”
"Are you not?" Nan Gengchen murmured, "I promised you that once I get rich I’ll invite you for an extravagant dinner, but it looks like that won't happen… ”
"Then just take classes like a normal kid. There are plenty of ordinary people that are doing well. You don't have to become an Extraordinary," said Qing Chen.
Nan Gengchen wanted to say something else but stopped himself.
He didn't want others to know that he was a transmigrator, but he also wanted others to look up to him.
His heart wavered between wanting to stay as a normal teenager and revealing that he transmigrated.
That evening, the class representative came to Qing Chen and Nan Gengchen, "Qing Chen, Nan Gang Chen, you two still haven't turned in your textbook money. ”
Qing Chen thought about it and said, "My parents aren't home, can I give you the money in a few days? ”
The class representative nodded and looked at Nan Gengchen, "Nan Gengchen, what about yours? ”
Nan Gengchen looked embarrassed, "I… also need a few more days…"
The class representative didn't say anything else and left.
Everyone in the class had a basic idea about Nan Gengchen and Qing Chen's families: they knew they didn’t have much money, so didn't think too much about it.
Usually, when they had class gatherings and parties, they would not invite them, so they could be spared from the embarrassment of not being able to split the bill.
Few high schoolers were that snobbish.
Qing Chen's grades were at the top of the class, making him automatically admirable among his peers.
Many people's impressions of high schoolers' thought processes are something like this: This guy is rich, I should hang out with him, this classmate is poor, I should avoid him…
In reality, most high schoolers are likely to complain together: Who the fuck invented functions? Huh? Or, Damn, someone only got a 15% on the test. Fuck, it's me!
Qing Chen looked at Nan Gengchen, "How come you didn't bring your textbook money either? ”
"My mom returned to her old home the last time my parents fought, so I have to ask my dad for the money," said Nan Gengchen in a low voice.
"Your dad didn't give it to you?" asked Qing Chen.
"No. ”
"What did he say? ”
Nan Gengchen said, "He told me to return the textbook to the school…"
Qing Chen: "??? ”
Suddenly, the trouble of textbook money brought this pair of poor friends closer together.
This also reminded Qing Chen that he needed to start earning some money.
He could continue to play chess with that old man, but soon that wouldn’t be enough, even the old man wouldn't want to play with him anymore after a while.
So, he needed to find ways to earn money in the Inner World.
He couldn't return empty-handed next time.
