Night Without End-Chapter 38 - 26: The Resurgence of Faded Memories
Chapter 38: Chapter 26: The Resurgence of Faded Memories
Qin Ming noticed that his childhood self was poorly dressed, but he was quickly drawn to the booklet.
A very thin ancient manuscript, which turned out to be a silk scripture upon opening.
Its leather cover must have been bound later, dark in color and coarse yet tough in texture, meant to fend off the erosion of time and protect the true scripture.
The first page recorded the "Wild Technique" that Qin Ming had practiced, which he was so familiar with that he could recite the dense text that seemed to whisper.
Then, the calloused hand turned to the second page, where the font was still small and connected to the previous one, containing some new words and patterns that immediately caught Qin Ming's attention and he quickly memorized them.
Perhaps there was no need to memorize, these fading memories were his, he was undergoing his Second Rebirth, dramatically improving his physical constitution and mental awareness, brushing off the dust of time to once again see past scenes and recall what was recorded in the silk scripture he had seen before.
Half-awake, half-dreaming, Qin Ming wanted to turn to the third page, but could not, as the large hand did not do it for him.

At this moment, he scrutinized the silk scripture, protected by the tough leather.
Weathered by time, it had lost its original luster, slightly yellowed, exuding a sense of vicissitudes of beauty and also accumulating a historical significance.
It was indeed very thin, with probably only about ten to twenty pages.
Qin Ming tried several times to turn the page, but could not open the third one.
He stopped trying and, through the mottled passage of time, carefully examined his younger self, the tiny figure in tattered clothes.
Even in a state of half-consciousness, Qin Ming was moved, realizing his childhood was impoverished, his faded little clothes with patches, sleeves worn through, looking down at his small shoes, which were also holed.
He sighed, thinking of his later years, which were also not easy, with chilblains, hunger, blood, and injuries, collapsing outside Yinteng Town two years ago and being taken back to Shuangshu Village.
"In the year I turned fourteen..." Qin Ming touched his head near the back, the site of an old wound that had bled profusely.
He found himself awake now, not in a dream touching his head; his fingers passed through his black hair, touching where the blood once poured.
There were no scars there, as they must have disappeared after his first rebirth.
"My childhood self, my fourteen-year-old self, two special points in time, memories sharply fragmented, those few faded faces often appear in my dreams."
It was that year when he was fourteen that he was displaced and experienced hardships, maturing slightly more than his peers.
Qin Ming looked outside, the thick night was gradually fading.
He went to the courtyard, took a deep breath of the icy cold air, and recalled his childhood memories again, the records on the first two pages of the silk scripture now clearly remembered.
Then he demonstrated the previously unpracticed movements, as well as methods to regulate breathing and spirit, contemplating and studying them seriously.
It was a long time before he stopped, his body still burning hot, but no longer glowing, appearing more normal.
"That coarse large hand..." Qin Ming recalled, the cuffs of the large hand were badly worn, the hand full of calluses, indicating a life of poverty similar to his own youth, far from the better circumstances he now found himself in.
The so-called "large hand" was considered very large, powerful, and reassuring in the eyes of his younger self.
He truly wanted to see the little hand held by the large hand, to make up for the regret of not seeing his kin for so many years.
"The Second Rebirth is not yet over, tonight I will continue to consume the Blood Snake containing Spiritual Material, as the physical constitution improves, the Power of the Mind will grow stronger, perhaps more faded childhood memories will resurface from the subconscious."
With these thoughts, Qin Ming instantly became spirited and energetic, he balanced a stone millstone in his hand, feeling quite light!
He roughly estimated that he could now shoulder fifteen hundred jin.
Shallow Night arrived, Qin Ming washed his hot body, today he did not plan to hunt in the mountains but to study the newly obtained silk scripture at home.
"Why is it said to be impossible?" he hoped that after nightfall, he could see the reason in his dreams.
It was clear that the silk scripture had a significant origin, and had been carefully preserved for fear of damage.
The snow had stopped, and the night became a little lighter, this was what a "sunny day" looked like in the age without a sun.
Qin Ming delved into the silk scripture, though he had only seen two pages, the records were dense with small text and numerous patterns, with much of the second page containing completely new material for him, the resurfaced memory required careful consideration to master fully.
"It's very ingenious, a pity, it can't be compared with Intermediate Meditation Technique and Advanced Will Power, it's unclear what level it truly is."
In this remote place, Qin Ming lacked the Xinsheng Skill, apart from the silk scripture, he had only read the widely circulated Night Meditation Technique Introduction.
The silk scripture mentioned "Heavenly Light," but only briefly, without explaining how to cultivate "Heavenly Light Force," let alone having the exalted "Ru Lai Power."
Qin Ming frowned, the silk scripture was doubtlessly extraordinary, but why was there no detailed explanation of the very important Heavenly Light?
He read carefully, rehearsing repeatedly in the courtyard, and eventually formulated some speculations; the silk scripture aimed to convey more with the most concise strokes, if he continued to practice, Heavenly Light would naturally emerge in the flesh and blood of the body, thus strengthening spirit.
