Chapter 580: Dinner introduction [2]

"We haven’t seen them since last night." Heiren answered, taking a spoonful out of his food.

"Mhmm, when we were preparing some food for you, they were here and were busy cleaning up some of our mess." Quizen added, scraping his spoon against his plate to get the savory broth.

"And no one has seen them since?" Coco asked, her eyebrows furrowing.

"I’ll check the basement later." Zaque spoke up and flashed Coco a soft smile, hoping that it would calm her down for a while. "They are probably sleeping. Lala looked quite tired when we came back."

"That’s true.." Coco mumbled, frowning. "Okay, let’s eat for now."

The mediators exchanged glances, slightly concerned about the king beast and the fairy now that Coco brought up their absence.

The reason they weren’t worried where they were was because they thought that Coco brought them with her somewhere, considering that she was ambushed by someone.

When Coco arrived, Heiren and Zaque didn’t notice the two magical creatures because they were more startled at the appearance of her mother.

Alhai and Quizen, on the other hand, were gone for almost the whole day because they went to work.

Truly, how would they be able to know that Coco’s companions were missing? They were hammered almost all morning because of the wine they were drinking in the middle of the night.

Halfway through dinner, Coco took it upon herself to ask the mediators to introduce themselves.

Talking while eating— it was a practice that was considered rude from where she came from, but in their household back on earth, during dinner was the only time of day the Coison family were able to converse with one another.

So why not do it in this world, too?

"Guys, please introduce yourselves." Coco spoke up, catching the attention of the three mediators.

"Mhmm, mother already knows who I am so it’s your turn." The third husband hummed, not looking up from his meal and cutting the pork on his plate meticulously.

"Oh, in that case, allow me to introduce myself." The red haired mediator said, halting on scooping rice onto his spoon. "My name is Zaque, and I’m the first husband of your daughter.."

Cleora nodded her head and chewed her food before she responded. "You look like a gentle young man. Please continue to take care of my daughter."

"I will do my best." Zaque said, smiling softly.

Quizen cleared his throat and everyone knew that it was his turn, causing them to look at him— well, only Cleora and Coco looked at him, the others opted to focus on finishing their food.

"I’m Quizen, mom." The fourth husband introduced himself and bobbed his head once. "I’m the fourth one, and she takes care of me very well."

Coco hummed and swallowed the food inside her mouth, her hand clutching the glass of water and drank the liquid down in one gulp. Once she was done, she placed it back on the table and nudged her mother.

"He has a good singing voice, mama." Coco giggled, grinning widely. "He also knows how to play instruments."

Cleora’s eyes widened in delight. "Seriously?"

The older woman turned to Quizen, asking him directly, to which the mediator nodded his head in response.

"We have a music room and it’s mine.." Quizen said, staring straight into Coco’s mother’s eyes to show that he’s sincere and telling the truth. "We have a couple of instruments that Coco bought, and if you would like, I could play some of the music I composed after dinner."

"You better pay him after, mama." Coco joked, nudging Cleora again. "That’s his job. He sings for people."

"Ooh! So like, a private show? Just for moi?" Cleora grinned, causing Coco to shake her head and laugh again which made Cleora huff.

"A private show? Nah, I’ll be there, too." Coco snorted, rolling her eyes.

"Boohoo, how am I going to ask them about you then? Are you going to keep getting between me interrogating them on how much of a handful you are?" Cleora asked, but the playful tone in her voice was obvious.

"What do you mean? I have been nothing, but a good lady!" Coco shot back, the same playful tone evident in her voice.

"She is correct, mother." Heiren chimed in, making Cleora turn away from Coco with a small, fond smile. "She has been a good lady to me, to us, and to the people around her."

"That, I agree with." Sinclair spoke up, chuckling. "Though, I do also agree that master can be a handful."

"Hey! I was never a handful!" Coco denied quite loudly, shoving a spoonful of food inside her mouth, all the while shooting a playful glare towards Sinclair.

The hybrid rolled his eyes, a small smile on his lips. "Very well. Whatever makes you happy, master."

Cleora laughed softly at the interaction of Sinclair and Coco, but she turned to Heiren. "How about you, boy? What is your name? I believe you haven’t introduced yourself just yet."

Heiren brightened up and quickly lowered his head, chewing the bite of pork he just had.

Once he swallowed it, he cleared his throat and introduced himself. "My name is Heiren, mother. I’m the second husband of your daughter, and I’m the one who cooked the dinner. I hope it is to your liking."

"To my liking?" Cleora asked, raising an eyebrow. "My boy! I’m honestly pleased and obsessed with this adobo!"

The corner of Heiren’s lips quirked up, a glint of excitement crossing his eyes. "Really? I only followed the recipe Coco showed me so I’m really happy that you like my cooking."

Cleora waved a dismissive hand and laughed. "With this, I am relieved to know that my daughter is really in good hands. It lessened the worries I have as her mother, so please, continue putting up with my baby."

"You’re being dramatic again." Coco groaned, covering her face, but the mediators could see that the tip of her ears were turning red.
