New World with Four Husbands-Chapter 578: Dinner compliments
Coco had rushed to her bedroom to brush her teeth and change into new, clean clothing after what she had done in the first floor bathroom with Zaque.
The poor mediator was left shaking and gasping once she was finished— a beautiful sight for sore eyes.
She was so glad to see that the kitchen door was closed when she ran past it, carrying Zaque in her arms and taking him to his room because he couldn’t walk after.
I think I was a little too rough with him.
She didn’t care though. She needed to be distracted because the realization of her liking Kairo, when she had been firm about him not going to be added to their little family, sent a guilty feeling over her.
It was bad enough that she rejected Kairo because she didn’t want to make the other mediators upset, but now, she wants to claim him as her own.
I feel like I led him on.. I’m such an asshole. Coco groaned, burying her face in her hands.
"I’m done, Coco." A raspy and gruff voice called, snapping Coco out of her thoughts and making her turn to the owner.
"Zaque." Coco breathed out a sigh of relief. "I’m so sorry. Was I too rough earlier?"
She scanned the mediator from head to toe, which made him feel embarrassed and remember what they did in the bathroom a couple of minutes ago.
"I-I’m fine.." He murmured, raising a hand to cover the lower half of his face.
"Come on." Coco cooed and grabbed his hand, interlocking her fingers with his as gentle as she could to not to alarm him. "They sent you to get me because we were about to eat, right?"
"Y-Yeah.." He stuttered out, voice still husky from all the whimpering and gasping he did.
The sound of his breathy voice made Coco want to go for another round and ditch the dinner, but she fought the monster and shook her head.
She can’t skip dinner this time around because her mother and her familiar will be eating with them.
Oh, fuck.. I gave him head while my mother was right inside the house! Just how shameless could you be, Coco?!
Coco felt her face become hot at the thought of her own mother catching her being intimate with her husband and ultimately got teased about it throughout the night.
No, no, no, it will be okay.. I’m sure she didn’t hear a thing. Coco decided to be just optimistic about it and dragged Zaque down the stairs.
Once the two of them reached the first floor, she could hear Sinclair and Cleora murmuring quietly to each other, obviously engaged in a conversation, so she decided to not bother them for now.
She turned in her heels and proceeded to guide Zaque to the kitchen, opening the door and pushing it open.
The three mediators inside perked up, their attention snapping to the doorway.
"What took you so long to get her, Zaque?" Quizen complained as soon as he saw that it was his wife and his friend. "Her cocoa is cold now. I had to reheat it because of you."
Zaque didn’t bother rebutting through the fourth husband’s blaming and walked over to the table, pleased and happy that something had happened between him and his beloved wife— no one would be able to ruin this cheery mood of his for the rest of the night.
"Did you take a bath, Coco?" Alhai asked, his eyes snaking to her form and taking note of the change of clothes.
"No, I just changed my clothes because it got dirty." Coco answered, half truth and half lie.
"Well, since you’re here.." Heiren said and turned to the table, picking up a saucer and handed it to her. "Have a taste. It’s been a while since I cooked that dish you like so I’m not sure if I got the taste right."
Coco accepted the saucer and took a sip of the broth on it, humming immediately in approval.
"Wow." Coco breathed out, her eyes wide as she pulled the small plate away from her lips. "That tastes very delicious, Heiren. You’re seriously amazing."
The second husband’s face bloomed with warmth, coating his cheeks red.
"T-Thank you." He mumbled, drifting his gaze down on the floor and fiddling with his fingers, unable to meet Coco’s eyes. "I was a little nervous because it had been awhile since I cooked it."
"Mhmm, but you’re still amazing with it." Coco giggled and placed her hand on Heiren’s hip, pulling him close.
Heiren’s eyes snapped up to look at Coco, a puzzled look flickering in his gaze, but it instantly got replaced with surprise when Coco’s lips crashed into his gently.
It was quick and light, but filled with gratitude.
Coco pulled away and smiled at him. "You’re an amazing cook, Heiren. Please don’t ever doubt yourself, okay?"
Heiren’s face became as hot as the stove, red colored the mediator’s face that soon traveled to his ears and down to his neck, coating his skin and pulling a laugh from Coco’s lips.
"You look so cute." She giggled, placing one more quick kiss on his lips before turning in her heels.
"I’ll call Sinclair and mama now." She called over her shoulders, making the mediators nod their heads, only for Alhai and Quizen to freeze.
"Mama?" The two simultaneously repeated, confused.
"It’s Coco’s birth mother." Zaque answered, separating the plates from the utensils and arranging them on the table.
Alhai and Quizen exchanged a glance, their eyebrows furrowing.
Slowly, the information got processed into their brains and once again, they simultaneously let out a reaction. "Mama?!"
"Yes, so be in your best behavior." Heiren answered this time, having recovered from Coco’s compliment and kisses. "I don’t believe it yet, but don’t want Coco to be upset so if you doubt it, don’t show it on your face."
Heiren finished speaking just in time for Coco to walk through the door, catching him off guard.
