New World with Four Husbands-Chapter 549: A goleter and a fairy [2]
"The puny human got caught by my little brother, the king of the flying pig, as humans call them, and received a lot of his feathers." Richard answered, setting aside his own pride.
He may not like the fact that he was being interrogated like this, but he understands that the fairy had to go extra measures because he was being a pain in the ass.
"Is that why her clothes are torn?" Lala asked, her voice timid and weak.
Richard didn’t answer right away and could only stare at the wall, letting the vine curl tighter around his ankle.
"It may be the reason, but I can’t be too sure." Richard stated with a frown. "When I got there, she was being carried by my little brother and it looked like they were on their way back to the city."
"Oh.." Lala murmured, her lips pursing. "Does this mean you didn’t get into a fight with the other king beast?"
Richard couldn’t help, but arch an eyebrow at the tone of disappointment Lala had. "I tried to, but the human stopped me so I withdrew before I could land a hit."
"Coco is just too kind for her own good." Lala grumbled, rubbing a hand down her face.
"I don’t think so." Richard disagreed half-heartedly. "She stopped because the human woman was there and she saved Coco. I believe that if she wasn’t there, your human wouldn’t have stopped me."
"What?" Lala perked up, eyes widening. "It wasn’t just the king beast, but a human woman, too?"
"That human woman was the king beast’s master." The goleter grunted out, fidgeting against the vine that wrapped a little too tight for his comfort. "Coco was mine and he hurt her so I wanted to hurt him, too, but Coco stopped me."
Richard was so occupied with shaking himself off from the vine’s grip that he didn’t see the look of horror on Lala’s face.
The garden fairy placed a hand on her mouth, eyes wide in disbelief.
Don’t tell me.. Lala thought, swallowing thickly.
For a long beast to become a familiar, they were supposed to meet someone who is incredibly stronger than them.
Those who can defeat and make a king beast their familiar is required to not be from this world.
With that in mind, Lala could only feel her body tense with all the possibilities and thoughts running through head.
What’s going on? Lala mused in panic in her mind.
Did Brother Kiki or Lulu take another person from Earth? Lala wondered, grabbing sides of her head as she pondered about it.
It was me who transferred Coco’s soul into Coco Hughes’ body.. And I haven’t gone back to Earth to get another one. The garden fairy bit her thumb and started nibbling on it, anxiety coursing through her veins.
To transfer a soul to the youngest dimension, it is a requirement for the soul’s original body to take its last breath and has been in an accident with a fairy.
Coco died because of Lala’s mistake— the black dust she was supposed to deliver to another dimension fell onto Coco’s resting body and ended up killing her.
Then, to compensate for being killed, Coco got transmigrated into another body of hers.
The requirements were all met.
That’s why, the thought of another earthling being in the same dimension of Coco made Lala nervous because what if the woman’s soul was somehow related to Coco’s?
It’s not impossible. Lala thought, her teeth cleaning down on her nail.
Just imagining Coco befriending another person from Earth and abandoning Lala made her scared, and the percentage of it happening gave her a feeling of dread.
Lala doesn’t want Coco to abandon her, but a part of her wants Coco to experience a good life in this new life of hers.
Lala groaned and pulled her hand away from her lips, instead of biting onto her finger, she resorted to pulling on her own hair to maximize her distraction from her thoughts.
It worked, sure, but she was stopped when a hand reached out and grabbed her.
"Can’t you hear what I said?!" Richard growled and glared down at Lala. "Stop hurting yourself! It wasn’t your fault, okay?!"
The garden fairy flinched when Richard’s raised voice reached her ears, almost bursting her eardrums open with how loud it was for her sense of hearing.
"And why are you crying again?" The goleter hissed, his crimson irises glaring at Lala’s strawberry colored ones.
Lala sniffled, her lips curling down into a frown before her tears fell down again and again and again, making it seem like it was never ending and wouldn’t stop any time soon.
Richard’s lips parted in shock, the glare in his eyes vanishing as he raised the fairy to his face. "Why are you crying?! Stop crying!"
However, the garden fairy continued to cry.
"I have been by Coco’s side since day one, but with what happened I might as well be cast aside!" Lala cried out, her voice high-pitched with sadness and hurt. "I couldn’t protect her and be there for her when she needed me! What good am I to her?!"
A bead of sweat appeared in Richard’s forehead and stared at Lala’s crying face, with his hands started getting clammy.
He quickly put Lala down on the vine and looked around. "Uh— uh! How about I bake you some cookies? Heiren and Zaque taught me how to bake a batch!"
Lala immediately stopped crying, but the tears were still there, and looked at Richard. "Cookies? You’ll bake some for me?"
Richard fervently nodded his head and turned in his heels, his movements stiff. "I get it, I get it. Cookies, cocoa, food, or whatever that comes in our mouth and fill our stomach cheers one up, right?"
Lala’s eyebrows furrowed. "Huh?"
"Do you only want cookie? Would you like something to drink it with?" Richard asked, disregarding Lala’s confused noises.
"If it’s not too much trouble, then yes, please.."
