Netori SSS-Emperor: All Queens Shall Be Mine!-Chapter 79: The Emperor’s Landing
Chapter 79 - The Emperor's Landing
The world of Hellmaria, separated into five conquering nations. Aestinoa–the meritocracy that governed itself through the weeding of the weak and the nurturing of the strong. A nation built on the pursuit of perfection The pursuit itself fueled the drive of its people, and although they knew they would never see the utopia that they envisioned, the mere knowledge that someone along the line was bound to inherit the fruits of their sacrifice–was more enough reward lay their very lives on the line.
Then there was the autocracy of Lanthareuim; as the name suggests, it governed itself and relied on itself alone. With no reliance on anyone else, there was little need for trade and diplomacy, thus making Lanthareuim a hermit nation.
'Then there's 'The Republic Of Famuthian', 'Gran Summit Theocracy', and 'Hemare–the anarchy ruled by the plutocrats'...' Laying pondering in his bed, his body laden with the heaving bosoms of many women, Wolf descended into deep thoughts trying to figure out what the kingdom's next move would be.
The news about Leviathan had just hit his ears today as well. It served as added tension since the vessel was loaded with magic cannons, each powerful enough to blow the entirety of Aestonia's mainland. Upon hearing of such a weapon, Wolf was stunned that the late king would even attempt to make such a thing and then to go ahead and execute the person helping him make it?
"What the hell was he thinking?" Wolf muttered to himself.
"Who are you talking to?" Waking up to his voice, Astoria looked up into her son's eyes.
Worry has creased his charming face. Easing them with her fingers, she climbed up his body and placed her head right next to his.
"Is something wrong?"
"No...I was just thinking about what we need to do next. The other nations, we're not exactly their friends, but we're not allowed to attack them, are we?"
"No, not unless the seat of the emperor has been filled." Reciting a commonly known law, Astoria took a deep breath and decided to hone in on the matter. "Unless the emperor can ensure a fair battle, we can't do anything, but then again, the emperor's seat has been empty for a decade."
Speaking of the emperor, Astoria was reminded of her secret. It was closely bound to that seat of the world's lord, but was it time yet to reveal it? Maybe–maybe not.
"Who even decided that the kingdoms have to vote the emperor in? Nobody's gonna vote for anyone else but themselves, no wonder the Emperor's landing has been empty." Wolf complained, and to a degree, he was right.
"Each nation has their own god, and it is the council of gods that decided so–and thus it became a tradition." Watching him getting closer and closer to that secret by himself, Astoria grew worried. She was tasked by the goddess through a vision long ago to choose a man that shall rule the five nations, but..."Isn't it too late to worry about something like that? The next time a vote is meant to be cast is in four years, so we have plenty of time to plan our next move."
"Sure, but what about Leviathan?" Turning his head to look at her, Wolf stared deep into her eyes with a serious look on his face. "All we know is that the craftsman's daughter stole that ship and we've been chasing it around Aestonia for the entirety of the time that it had been gone."
"That...is a problem, yes."
Although the three islanders were now under Aestonian possession, the king's problems had yet to lighten. To a certain extent it was the fault of the late king that Aestonia was left in such a horrible state past his death. Astoria may have been learned in the matters of wars and geopolitics, but in the end, it was the king's orders that directed troops on the sea line.
"I'll have Kayla prepare another report about that front; maybe we can still find a solution to this problem." Taking a deep breath, Wolf pulled Astoria closer and tried to go to sleep. "Sorry about worrying you so late."
And that was where Astoria's mind changed. His worrying over the smallest inconvenience to her showed more compassion than the last king. Thus, vowing in her heart to finally reveal the truth the next morning, Astoria slept in his arms along with the faunan girls.
The emperor, the king, and the vote that must be cast–bound by a silver thread, the very fate of the world rests on that thread. To think the goddess would choose a witch's child to take on that role, at first not even Astoria believed it, but now as she laid in his arms, it felt real, and the curses on his body turned into a nightmare.
A bittersweet taste swam in her mouth. But at least for now, there was peace–for the next four years, that is. As for the Emperor's landing–a land protected by a wall of giants, it was once a bustling city with the emperor ruling from the highest peak on Hellmaria itself. His rule would be final, and the gods set him to be their voice of reason to keep the peace between the nations.
But alas, nobody's rule lasts forever. A childless man, he died, and his legacy was quickly forgotten. The kingdoms fell into chaos and divided themselves into continents and islands. And in that chaos, Aestonia's expansion took a massive leap. Unhindered by the other nations, the late king of Astoria annexed as many territories as possible.
And now, with everything around them being their own, the next leap–the seat of the Emperor was the only logical step. Not to mention, the queen had already been shown a vision. But even now, something was amiss, there was purpose to her reprehension. She couldn't have let the truth leap into the hands of the unworthy. But with Wolf having proven himself, all that was left was to take out the remaining trash and start with diplomacy with the other nations.

An absolute compliance had to be reached between the kingdoms, for if even one of them votes for their own leaders to become emperor, the entire event would be null and void. But was it even possible to do such a thing? To intentionally vote to disadvantage yourself? The event to choose the king had already proven just how impossible that would be...
