Chapter 204: Episode 204

Could there be another fight that so perfectly fit the expression ‘toying with someone’? The four students watched the battle between Byulya and Wichasha, completely mesmerized.

"From now on, I’m..." Dick suddenly announced. "Majoring in Venomology—Oof!"

"Don’t just decide like that, you moron!" Meirin snapped.

Dick rubbed the back of his head where she had hit him. "Hey, what’s the big deal! Isn’t Professor Byulya so charming?"

Meirin’s reaction went beyond disgust to outright revulsion. "Were you always the kind of idiot who decides his major based on how charming a professor is?"

"Says the one who’s always fawning over Pion."

At that, Meirin’s face turned red, and she stammered, "Hey! Wh-why are you suddenly bringing that up! That’s just liking someone with a pure heart! Deciding a major is a completely different thing!"

"It’s obvious you would’ve followed him into Combat Magic if Pion were a professor."

As the two bickered yet again, Simon sighed internally.

"Professor Byulya’s fighting technique is really unpredictable," Kamibarez murmured, unable to take her eyes off the battle.

Simon nodded in agreement. "She’s fighting him without even deploying a single magic circle."

"Yes, it’s like potent venoms are constantly being assembled inside her body, like an animal."

The drops of sweat, bodily fluids, dead skin, and even the hair falling from her head all became weapons. Wichasha couldn’t land a single proper attack as the poison in his body continued to accumulate.

"Why!" Wichasha shouted in fury, purple saliva drooling from his mouth. "Why did you massacre the women and children of my tribe!"

"Didn’t I explain that a long time ago?" Byulya tilted her head. "After the fight, I was hot, so I just went into a nearby puddle. But that happened to be your tribe’s drinking water, and you idiots drank the water I bathed in. A plague spread. That’s what happened."

"And you expect me to believe that!" Wichasha screamed, swinging his fist, but Byulya easily blocked it with her hand.

"Fucking stupid, right? I think so too. Humans just can’t accept things as they are. They have to assign meaning, exaggerate, pour out emotions, and act like there was some grand cause and effect. I got kicked out of the tribe I lived with my whole life because of that, so what more do you want? You think I’m going to give my life to fucking small-fries like you?"

’Thwack!’ Byulya kicked Wichasha in the abdomen, and he staggered back. "You’re just a monster who can’t accept reality and has been consumed by hatred."

"Don’t make me laugh!" Wichasha charged relentlessly.

Byulya raised her fingertips, and the colorful liquid sweat drops she had shed on the floor floated into the air.

’P-p-pow!’

They all flew at Wichasha and exploded, each one a different kind of venomous blast. Wichasha’s Black Robe was tattered, and spots and hives broke out all over his body.

Wichasha, who had endured all the explosions, finally dropped his arms, his face clearly exhausted.

"How boring. More than anything, you just lack the skill," Byulya said with a yawn, picking at her ear.

Seeing this, a spark ignited in Wichasha’s eyes. "I—!"

His Black Robe came off and gathered in the center, transforming into a giant thorn sword over ten feet long. "I won six times against Hongfeng with this technique!"

Just as he was about to swing the thorn sword with a roar, Byulya blew on the finger she had used to pick her ear. A red spark flew from her finger and set off a chain reaction of explosions. Caught in the blast, Wichasha’s skin turned deathly white and began to melt and drip like candle wax.

"Gaaahhhhhh!"

At the gruesome sight, the four watching either turned their heads or closed their eyes.

"There’s a limit to your bullshit." Byulya appeared in an afterimage and grabbed Wichasha’s face with her palm.

"Ugh!"

Wichasha quickly reached out with both arms and grabbed Byulya’s arm, but it didn’t budge. He was being overpowered. His legs trembled, and soon, both his knees hit the floor. He let out a roar of humiliation and summoned all his strength, but still, she didn’t move. In fact, the more he summoned his Jet-Black, the more his organs were damaged, and the Jet-Black backfired.

’Have I gotten weaker? Or was this woman always this strong?’

"It’s not like I’m close with my sister, or have any family affection, but..."

Wichasha’s face was now touching the floor, his two arms feebly holding onto Byulya’s right arm.

"Just what ancient kid’s story are you talking about? The Hongfeng of today could subdue you with just one hand."

"Ugh!"

Just then, the tattered Black Robe Wichasha was wearing began to ripple once more. Byulya sneered. "It’s useless to enhance your strength with the Black Robe..."

Wichasha’s Black Robe gathered together and shot out like a spike. This time, even Byulya seemed not to have expected it, letting go and stepping back to dodge.

"This one’s good. Did you listen to my lesson, student?"

Wichasha exploded all his Jet-Black into his feet and began to flee with all his might.

’I was wrong. She’s completely different from when we were on the plains!’

This was an opponent he couldn’t possibly win against. For now, he had to retreat and come up with another plan. Watching Wichasha flee, Byulya clicked her tongue.

"What a pain." She got into a charging stance and said to the students, "I’ll go catch that. You guys go find somewhere safe and stay—" 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

Suddenly, a deafening roar echoed. Wichasha’s battered body came flying back, passed Byulya, and crashed into the wall on the opposite side. The impact was so powerful that a whirlwind erupted.

When Byulya turned around, she saw Wichasha’s mangled body twitching before his head slumped down. Soon, a man was seen walking in the direction from which Wichasha had fled.

Simon shouted in a voice full of delight, "Kajan!"

Led by Kajan, three agents from the Thieves’ Guild walked in, wearing robes.

"What, why is Kajan here?"

"Kajan?"

Dick and Meirin also reacted with surprise. Kajan saw the group and gave a slight wave.

"You’re late, Kajan," Simon said, approaching with a bright smile.

"No, I’m not late yet."

"Huh?"

"My mission is not to arrest some loser like him."

Kajan walked over and bowed respectfully to Byulya. "I’ve come to escort you, Professor Byulya."

It seemed Kajan’s purpose was to bring Byulya. She snorted. "Escort what? Get lost. I’ll go to Roc Island on my own, so let them know."

"Including this Hupa tribe incident, there have been more than a few complaints filed with Kizen because of your reckless rampages." His eyes flashed fiercely. "Why did you ignore your escort?"

"Because I wanted to," she smiled back, not backing down. "And what’s with this tone? You said I’m a professor, right? Do you think some lackey can be so damn disrespectful?"

"The Thieves’ Guild is a partner in cooperation with Kizen. And you are not yet a Kizen professor. There will be no problem if I subdue you by force and take you."

"Oh." Byulya’s mouth opened, revealing her sharp, triangular teeth. "Go on, try it."

"You think I can’t?"

The Jet-Black of the two clashed. Unable to watch any longer, Meirin quickly approached. "Hey, why are you two being so emotional? Is this really something to fight over—!"

Before she could even finish, the two’s fists flew at each other’s faces. Their arms crossed as they landed counter-punches on each other, then they started throwing kicks and using martial arts, clashing in earnest.

"Wh-what’s going on?" Kamibarez trembled.

Dick also spoke as if he couldn’t believe it. "Are those people crazy? Why are they fighting!"

"Stop them, Simon!"

Simon shook his head. Unless he wore Pier or summoned Prince, there was no way he could stop a fight between those two. "And I don’t think they’re really fighting to kill."

"Huh?"

"Just watch." Simon was slowly analyzing the battle.

Byulya, who had dodged Kajan’s fist by twisting her waist, grinned. "What, you’re more fun than that chieftain bastard."

The fight between Byulya and Kajan was intense. Of course, Kajan was a powerhouse, but not enough to beat a professor. While Byulya was holding back, Kajan had a resistance to poison. No matter how much poison Byulya threw at him, he was fighting perfectly fine.

"Hahaha! Are you really human?" A venomology professor candidate facing a situation where poison doesn’t work.

It was a seriously disadvantageous matchup, but Byulya was laughing. She dodged an attack and took a few steps back, then took a colorful lump of powder from the belt at her waist and poured it into her mouth. She wasn’t deploying a magic circle or using a potion. The compound was breaking down inside her body, combining with existing compounds to start a reaction. Soon, the color of the sweat on her forehead changed, and the properties of her bodily fluids also changed.

"...Are you truly human yourself, I wonder," Kajan said, charging roughly as the two clashed again.

After exchanging a few martial arts blows, the two simultaneously retreated, and Kajan looked at his own skin. Gray spots were beginning to appear on his body.

"Found it," Byulya said with a smile, licking her lips. Even against an opponent immune to poison, she had continuously changed the combination of her poisons during the fight and had finally concocted a poison that worked only on Kajan. "Is this enough to pass the test those Kizen bastards gave me?"

"...You knew?"

"Their methods are obvious." If a venomology professor candidate gave up on poison just because she met someone with a poison-resistant constitution, that wouldn’t do. Byulya had satisfied even Kizen’s final test. "But the very idea that you guys are evaluating me is arrogant." She cracked her knuckles. "I know you’re not at fault since you received the mission, but I don’t care. I’m going to beat you to a pulp."

"Do as you please," Kajan retorted, raising his fists, burning with fighting spirit, as if he wouldn’t go down without a fight.

Just as the two were about to clash again...

"Alright, stop! Stooop!"

Someone was entering the collapsed ruins. A small girl with silver hair that seemed to hold the moonlight came hopping in. In her hand was a half-eaten ice cream, and her mouth was a mess. "That’s enough!"

’La-Lady Nephthys!’ Simon thought in terror.

Kajan and the Thieves’ Guild members, as well as the other team members, bowed their heads to show respect to the master of Kizen. Following behind Nephthys was a girl with black hair and red eyes, with a calm atmosphere. Lorraine spotted Simon and gave a slight wave, and Simon smiled and waved back.

"Huh...?"

And Byulya was looking at Nephthys with a bewildered expression. Nephthys, who seemed unafraid of the poison, strode right up to Byulya and blinked. Then, she smiled brightly and raised her hand high. "Hiii!"

Byulya just stood there, looking somewhat dazed. Simon suddenly felt anxious. ’I don’t think Professor Byulya recognizes Lady Nephthys.’

Lorraine seemed to think the same and spoke first. "Professor Byulya. Please show your respect..."

’Thump!’

Byulya leaped backward and landed on the floor with both feet and both hands. Then, like a wary cat, she started to hiss. "What is this monster kid! Get her away from me right now!"
