Naruto: Starting with Infinite Chakra-Chapter 206: Competing for Recognition
Chapter 206 - 206: Competing for Recognition
As soon as the words fell, Jiraiya immediately created a large number of shadow clones, each of them preparing their own jutsu.
First, his real body, with the assistance of two shadow clones, unleashed the Fire Release: Five Guardian Gate. A towering wave of fire surged forward, carrying the power to incinerate the heavens.
"Sage Art: Magnet Release Rasengan."
"Sage Art: Great Flame Rasengan."
"Sage Art: Thousand Hair Needles."
"Sage Art: Myriad Thunder Prison."
...
Jiraiya's shadow clones unleashed a barrage of jutsu, bombarding the battlefield with an overwhelming storm of Rasengan variants and other powerful techniques. It was even more intense than when he had fought Hanzo of the Salamander. The combined Rasengan attacks merged into a sea of devastation, while the other ninjas spread out, attacking from multiple angles.
"No wonder he was able to defeat Hanzo... This level of attack is beyond terrifying. The Hokage won't stand a chance."
"The Hokage is going to lose. This level of power surpasses the Kage rank!"
"How does Jiraiya have so much chakra? He's launching so many jutsu at once!"
"These techniques are nearly all S-rank! This is like a natural disaster!"
The watching Konoha shinobi gasped in shock and fear. Their eyes, filled with disbelief, were fixed on Jiraiya as though he were some kind of monster. Such an immense chakra reserve was beyond human.
"Iron Sand Burial."
Jiraiya swiftly formed hand seals, gathering a vast amount of Iron Sand, shaping it into a massive tidal wave before sending it crashing forward.
He had no intention of lightly wounding Hiruzen Sarutobi. If he only inflicted minor injuries, the Hokage would simply recover and return to power. Hiruzen was too stubborn—only overwhelming force could make him submit and change his mindset.
Seeing the incoming jutsu, Hiruzen's expression changed drastically. He swung his Adamantine Staff and created four shadow clones, each countering with their own jutsu.
"Boom!"
A series of deafening explosions erupted. The ground shook violently, parts of it caving in, while dust and debris filled the air.
When the dust settled, the Adamantine Staff was nowhere to be seen—Enma had taken too much damage and had been forced back to his realm. Hiruzen's armor was in tatters, his body covered in wounds. Blood dripped heavily from the corners of his mouth, and most critically, a deep gash marred his abdomen.
"You've lost. From now on, I will lead this village."
Jiraiya gazed coldly at the battered Hiruzen, his voice devoid of emotion.
Looking at Jiraiya—completely unscathed—Hiruzen could only nod. He knew that if he refused, Jiraiya would not hesitate to kill him to ensure his rule.
Hiruzen wanted to live. As long as he remained alive, he could at least try to mitigate some of Jiraiya's decisions and prevent Konoha from descending into extremism.
With Hiruzen's reluctant acceptance, Jiraiya immediately used the Body Flicker Technique to move to the gathered Konoha shinobi.
"What do you intend to do now?" Jiraiya's cold eyes swept over the shinobi who had previously opposed him.
"Jiraiya-sama, since we have the power to conquer the Land of Rain, there's no reason to hold back. I am willing to assist you in uniting the ninja world."
"Jiraiya-sama, with your strength, leading us to take over the Land of Rain is inevitable. We have no reason not to follow you."
With Hiruzen defeated, none of them dared to defy Jiraiya any longer.
"Go heal the Hokage," Jiraiya ordered Koharu Utatane.
Koharu, now Konoha's most skilled medical-nin, nodded. "Understood, Jiraiya-sama."
Though he was her junior, Jiraiya's overwhelming power left her no choice but to address him with respect.
She quickly administered basic treatment to Hiruzen before he was helped back to the village alongside Jiraiya.
The battle between Jiraiya and Hiruzen remained a secret among Konoha's higher-ups. The village's common shinobi and civilians had no knowledge of it. The key figures within the village knew that Hiruzen had been utterly defeated without Jiraiya taking a single scratch—an acknowledgment from them was enough. Once the higher-ups accepted Jiraiya, the rest of the village would naturally follow.
...
"When do you plan to take over as Hokage?" Hiruzen asked weakly upon their return to the Hokage's office.
He knew he had no choice but to step down. He had once considered Jiraiya as his successor, but after seeing his ambitions unfold, he had abandoned that idea. Now, however, he was left with no alternative.
"There's no rush. First, we will completely seize control of the Land of Rain and eradicate all of its remaining ninja. Only then will I take the Hokage seat."
Jiraiya sat in the Hokage's chair, his voice calm.
"The advance forces have already surrounded Amegakure. If we dispatch another four thousand elite shinobi, we can wipe out the village."
"Who among you wants to handle this?" Jiraiya asked.
He had no intention of returning to the battlefield personally. The Rain ninja had lost all hope—there was no need for him to act. A few elite jonin leading a skilled force would be enough to finish the job.
For now, he would remain in Konoha, waiting for the envoys from the Land of Wind. Having captured Shukaku, he knew Sunagakure would send someone to negotiate.
"Jiraiya-sama, the Uchiha Clan is more than capable of handling the destruction of the Land of Rain."
"Jiraiya-sama, the Aburame Clan is also prepared to take on the task."
...
The moment Jiraiya posed the question, leaders of Konoha's major clans quickly stepped forward to volunteer.
Jiraiya had utterly defeated Hiruzen, proving himself the strongest in the village. Even if they all united against him, they wouldn't stand a chance. If the battle had been close, they might have sided with Hiruzen to oppose him. But now, with no power to resist him, they had no choice but to display their loyalty.
They knew that Jiraiya's victory was absolute. Now, their only option was to prove their worth to him.
