In short, meeting Danzo or the Third Hokage alone was out of the question. They couldn’t treat him like Shisui, who could be easily manipulated.

"Take them away!" Kazuki ordered.

Since the captain had demanded their detention, Kiyama led the group away to imprison them until the morning.

After the crowd dispersed, Fugaku emerged. Kazuki stopped once again, smiling as he asked, "Why is the clan leader here? Did I do something wrong?"

"Search your conscience and answer honestly," Fugaku said, taking a deep breath. "They were Danzo’s men."

"And so what?" Kazuki laughed, pointing to the ground with his right index finger. "This is the Uchiha Police Force’s territory. Unknown individuals attacking me should be arrested. I don’t care if they’re Danzo’s men—they’re spies for sure. They were wearing ANBU gear without ANBU insignias."

Kazuki had the audacity to arrest them because Root operatives worked in the shadows. Even if they wore ANBU gear, without proper identification, they were just unknown assailants. If they tried to reveal their association with Danzo, Kazuki could deny it, claiming he didn’t hear or see any proof.

Even if this went to the Hokage’s office, Kazuki wouldn’t be worried. He had already labeled them as unknown attackers, and no matter who intervened, they would still be considered unidentified individuals.

"Clan leader, I’m not a hardliner, but I believe that constant retreating is not a solution. Some people, when you give them an inch, will take a mile," Kazuki said, staring directly into Fugaku’s eyes. "We have no room left to retreat."

"Do you want to lead the clan against the village?" Fugaku activated his Sharingan, the three tomoe glowing ominously in the dark.

Spreading his hands innocently, Kazuki replied, "How is arresting unidentified criminals going against the village?"

Fugaku didn’t answer, and Kazuki fell silent as well. They stood in the street, staring at each other.

After a while, Fugaku deactivated his Sharingan and turned to leave, saying over his shoulder, "I hope you know what you’re doing. The Uchiha cannot stand against the village, and I will not allow anyone to lead the Uchiha into the abyss."

The Uchiha might not stand against the village, but they could stand against an individual, like Danzo.

Kazuki smiled.

Tonight’s ordeal wasn’t all bad. At least Fugaku, the clan leader, chose to compromise again. But constant retreating—how far could they go?

A pity for the Uchiha to have such a clan leader. Fortunately, there was still hope to turn things around.

Danzo, will you enjoy this surprise?

Meanwhile, Danzo, waiting with his subordinates for Kazuki to fall into the trap, realized as time passed that the capture had failed. Kazuki hadn’t taken the bait, and his men hadn’t returned.

His operatives were either dead or captured.

"That evil Uchiha brat!"

"Fall back!"

Since the capture plan failed, waiting around was pointless. As for his men’s fate, he’d find out tomorrow.

What Danzo didn’t expect was Kiyama’s efficiency. Instead of waiting until the next day, Kiyama had already thrown the captives into prison that very night.

"We’re Lord Danzo’s men!" they kept protesting as they were incarcerated, but no one listened.

Without proof of identity or ANBU insignias, wearing ANBU gear was already a major offense. Especially since they were charged with attacking a police squad captain.

Thus, Danzo’s men were imprisoned, awaiting their fate depending on Danzo and the Third Hokage’s response.

The next morning, the Third Hokage received news just as he arrived at his office.

"Unidentified individuals, wearing ANBU gear, attacked a police squad captain?" His expression turned strange.

It was undoubtedly Danzo’s men. Only Root operatives could cause such a mix-up, wearing ANBU gear without proper identification, and then getting caught.

The Third Hokage was speechless. Since when had Danzo’s operations become so ridiculous?

"Go fetch them and hand them over to Danzo. Tell him to be more careful next time."

There was nothing else the Third Hokage could do. He had to release them quietly. He couldn’t blame Kazuki since he had done nothing wrong, and Root couldn’t be exposed.

This dark secret was something Danzo had to swallow.

What irritated the Third Hokage more was that an ANBU reported Uchiha Kazuki was again eating at the ninja academy’s gate.

"Successfully copied part of Indra’s chakra. Would you like to merge it?"

Kazuki had received numerous critical rewards recently, including part of Indra’s chakra, which was not a small amount.

"Merging."

As he merged the chakra, Kazuki felt a strain in his eyes, a sign of impending evolution.

Previously, his Sharingan’s evolution had been smooth and natural, with increased mental strength and ocular power.

Others required intense training or emotional triggers to evolve their Sharingan. Kazuki just needed to wait.

It felt incredibly satisfying.

’Effort and hard work can’t compete with talent, and even talent can’t compete with a cheat.’

Having achieved his goal, Kazuki left some money and returned to the police headquarters, content. Meanwhile, Sasuke, oblivious to being one of Kazuki’s tools along with Naruto, walked into the ninja academy with his little backpack.

"Captain!"

The synchronized greeting from his team members in the third squad’s break room almost made Kazuki do a double-take.

Since when did these troublemakers become so coordinated?
