Chapter 40: Chapter Forty:His Bambi.

The night wasn’t so over for the Singh’s family, who arrived home through the courtesy of Hendrix who suggested driving them back home. Even though it was late, and there’s no way he would be able to drive back to the city in this ungodly hour.

But the lovesick youngman didn’t care about that, nor give any actual care that his mother and sister had been ringing his line non-stop for hours now, just so they could know how the case with Mario’s daughter went.

His eyes locked with Narika’s through the mirror, and she’s embarrassed full time. They both were, they were caught stealing glances at each other by her father who didn’t mind.

If anything he was assured that this day was bound to happen, he was worried that his child wouldn’t find someone to settle down with, without looking at the fact that she was no normal human.

But there’s Hendrix, sneaking peeks at his child, and trying so hard to act so manly altogether by feigning that he wasn’t bewitched by her beauty.

Mario was happy, but that was just for the moment until he remembered the name, Adrik. Marya had told him all about what had gone down, just like how Zoe told her.

If anyone had told him that there was going to be a time, where he would he going back to India, to Marya’s hometown to get his daughter back to normal from a psycho obsessed ghost, who he prayed that it isn’t the same Adrik Ivanov, that his father had had some handins with in the past, he wouldn’t believe.

His daughter was innocent, so innocent and naive to the point that she hasn’t done anything about finding out what exactly he wants from her.

But he had to believe that this was her getting all worked up, because it isn’t everyday that one would wake up to realize that she’s being stalked by a ghost.

All these years of keeping his distance away from his father, even after he had clearly disowned him and promised to Kill him the next time he shows up at his doorsteps.

He couldn’t get past the eerie feeling hanging in the air, that his child has been pulled into some revenge rendezvous that would need him, going out of his way to save her life.

Adrik Ivanov.

"Did you say something?" Narika asked her dad, when she heard him call Adrik’s name. She’s sure that it was not just her mind playing games with her, but maybe it was, because she knew that Adrik had done something to her.

Why couldn’t she stop thinking about him after that kiss?

"What?’’Mario sat up in his seat, looking past his daughter to see that they were almost home.

"You called his name, dad."She said, more like asking him a question. Would she be doing the right thing by telling him that he kissed her?

Heck! Of course he won’t believe her, and would think that he had clearly done some voodoo shit on her, but seriously she had to understand that it would be better keeping to herself about that kiss with Adrik.

Just for this time, to save herself the emotional stress it was going to cost her if maybe, it also gets out that a ghost kissed her. Obviously, she’s going to be locked up in some mental hospital by the mayor of the town.

She noticed him trying to deny that he didn’t say anything, but he was stressed out tonight and his shields were down for her to know, that he was worried sick about this just like she was.

"We are going to figure things out dad, there’s nothing to be worried about." She assured him, taking his right hand into her left ones and giving him the best smile she could ever bring up so he can let loose some steam.

If it was this way with him, what would become of her mother? She knew that her mother was going to be the problem, because she’s having a hard time keeping up with her high blood pressure, and Adrik wasn’t helping by framing her up for what she didn’t do.

What if she had lost her?

What if she had fainted just by hearing about him from Zoe, who was supposed to be the best friend and keep things normal until she’s ready to tell her parents.

Well now, not only does she have her mother to worry about. Her father was in the picture too, and the whole town of Suncity is going to make her life a living hell too.

What happened to best friends being there for each other until the end?

She nearly cried, but she held it all in. If there’s anything that painted her much about this, it had to be the fact that someone who she took as a sister betrayed her.

She didn’t come to see her while she was locked up, all she did was to create a room for enmity between the people in town against her and her family.

"We are here"Mario says, bringing the young lady out of her thoughts to see her mom standing outside the cold harsh weather of the night, just to see her.

She pushed the door open, and ran into her warm embrace. Her mother was crying, she noticed when she saw how swollen her cheeks were.

"I’m so sorry, mom." She apologized, without any idea of what she had done to demand the apology. But she had to apologize.

"It’s okay, everything is okay now."She kissed Narika’s temple, before turning towards the two approaching figures.

"Hey baby," Mario, the romantic man he was, pecked her cheek in front of their guests.

"I’m so glad to finally meet you,Hendrix. I’m Marya Singh." The woman moved aside Mario’s affection, to welcome Hendrix and thank him for the step he took for her family tonight.

While he was talking with her mother and father, Narika couldn’t help but fall victim to love the way his eyes showed under the moon tonight.

She was checking him out, but this time she hoped he didn’t catch her looking at him, just like the last few seconds while they were in his car.

Her gaze drifted upwards towards his well defined structure. she’s sure everyone would break their necks just to look at him. Dark silk hair, styled away from his face. A few strands falling in front of his eyes and then birthmarks trailing up his neck, faintly decorating his face beautifully. Damn, he’s handsome.

When he eventually looks up, from her mother, to focus his gaze on her. She felt as if she was in a trance. She was attracted to this guy, and that’s no lie.

Like who wouldn’t fall for someone like Hendrix Qing?

"Please come in, i have had dinner prepared,"Narika’s mother suggested, but he politely declined. He had to get going if he was going to make it into the city before the next morning.

"Hendrix ’’ Mario called him, trying to persuade him but his phone chose to go off at that time, dragging Narika’s attention who wondered who was calling him.

His fiance?

Wife?

Her eyes went for his fingers, and when she didn’t find any ring. She let out a relaxed sigh.

"Another time sir, mother has been ringing me up non-stop. You know how she is," Hendrix said, feeling a little bit sad that he wasn’t prepared to stay the night at their place.

But next time, after all his mission had been accomplished. He had found Bambi, Narika. Sweet name.

"Drive carefully then," Mario said, moving over to pull him into a manly hug while he looked last time towards Narika, who looked away when she realized that he was going to look at her next.

"Stop being shy and tell him off." Her mother told her, maybe out loud that had Narika glaring at her, while Hendrix did nothing but smile.

"Goodnight mister," She said shyly, she’s still finding it hard to call him by his name.

"You too, Bambi" He said lastly, making sure that he was successful in leaving her all flustered up before making way for his car, and leaving the sweet family all to themselves.

He was going to come back, maybe not tomorrow. But soon, and it’s all because of her, Narika Singh. His Bambi.
