Narika: The Ghost Bride-Chapter 223 - Two Hundred And Twenty-Three:It Wasn’t His Business Until He Fell For Her.
"you promise to let him go right?" Marilyn asked for the umpteenth time, as Lucifer’s patience was now running low with her. He gave her an ultimatum if she wanted Jason back in one piece, to which he’s going to keep his word this time around.
What he asks of her was too important for him not to keep his promises, but then she would have to warn Jason to mind his tone with him if he doesn’t want to leave her unscarred. His promise was to let him go when she has done what he asked of her, he didn’t promise not to hurt him.
"Lucy.." Marilyn called his name, as they stood outside the dungeon where he briefed her on what exactly he wanted her to do.
The look he gave her for using the name she usually uses in the bedroom, out here where his guards were were enough for her to know that he’s serious on what he asked of her, but then she wasn’t sure he was going to keep to his end of his deal.
She’s scared.
She’s scared of what he asked of her, Lucifer is getting suspicious of Erin, his best friend and he wants her to get closer to him, entice him enough to find out if he’s working against him.
Like how on earth did she turn into a detective?
She’s nothing but a business woman, but here he’s trying to turn her into a spy, he was the very same person that has accused her of sleeping with Erin and now the table has turned. He wants her close enough with him, like how close?
She didn’t come here to whore herself to these demons, all that matters is her twin girls, Adrik and Jason. The rest of the others could rot in hell for all she cared.
"Fine, I will keep to my end of my promise, but let it be known to you that Erin shouldn’t know about our deal, and try not to whore yourself out to him this time around." He said, his words bringing tears to Marilyn’s eyes. He derived pleasure hurting her, calling her names and she’s not surprised why the mother of his children were all dead.
Like who the hell would want to stay with the likes of him. Jason might be a liar, but Lucifer is the boss of all liars, and he doesn’t hide his own, not at all.
She cleaned the tears that fell on her eyes, she didn’t want him scooping it up to his lips, before moving away from him.
"Where are you going?" Lucifer asked, not asking the sudden detachment from him.
"I need to talk to him, it’s been ages since we last saw and..." Marilyn tried explaining, but shevwas yanked close to him by his hand wrapped around her neck.
"The liberty i gave you doesn’t include reminiscing about old times. I told you to forget about him if you truly care for your daughter on earth, do you have a death wish, woman? Why do you do like provoking me?" Lucifer roared, her cries did nothing to him if nothing it fired his anger more that she’s thinking of another man in his presence.
He pushed her back, as she staggered until the wall was the safe place holding her from hitting the floor, then she wiped her tears before turning to leave.
She didn’t want to give him any more ideas about hurting her, since he doesn’t feed on anything else but her misery, she only prays that she gets to see the end of all these because at this rate she’s going to lose it one day.
But that would be if there was truly an end, yes the war that involved her grandson. Lucifer sees the little bud as nothing but a war machine, which she hasn’t seen anything yet for her to say that he’s special.
She hoped that he’s nothing like everyone thinks of him to be, he’s just a young child, a young demon child whose grandfather deserves to die, no!
She didn’t actually want him dead, she didn’t know how to go about the twins without him because everyone here doesn’t recognize them. She’s sure that if something mistakenly happens to him, that his opposition wouldn’t waste any minute getting rid of her and her girls.
His demon council hasn’t fully accepted the idea of her, a mere human being their queen and the last thing she wished for was to be anything like them. So, she would rather die protecting her girls, Vanessa and Jason because everything is all her fault.
She brought this upon herself, Marilyn cursed the day she met Lucifer at the club. Yeah, she hasn’t taken his word for it when he told her what he was, but maybe if she had listened, all these wouldn’t have happened.
She would have had a normal life on earth with her family, but then Adrik wouldn’t exist and she owes her son everything because she failed him as a mother.
She was walking towards
the girls room, until she bumped into a wall, not wall, someone.
"Marilyn, are you okay?" Erin’s worried face was the first thing she saw when she looked up to acknowledge him who was in her presence. Unlike Lucifer, Erin was more human but she didn’t know if he’s pretending but even if he was, it was good while it lasted.
He grabbed her face between his hands, as his red eyes that didn’t scare her anymore tried to read her mind without her knowing, but it was sealed off as if someone was preventing him from breaking in.
Her being the naive woman who didn’t know the real reason why he approached her, washed no time to do as Lucifer had demanded of her. She hugged him immediately while bawling her eyes out on the black frock he was wearing.
"It hurts, everything hurts." She said, hitting her chest with her right hand but Erin held her from hurting herself further.
"It’s alright, i’m here now." Erin consoled her, he didn’t know what Lucifer had done to her but then it wasn’t his business.
That’s what he told himself.
It wasn’t his business when he started getting close to her, or wasn’t his business when he was watching her smile when she’s around him. She seemed carefree and happy and watching her that way without her being burdened about her relationship with Lucifer made him content.
Whenever he’s with her, he forgets about why he was here, about why he’s close to Lucifer. About him he’s slowly seeping his way into the council of demons trying to dethrone Lucifer, using his children against him to cause a revolution on hell.
He couldn’t explain why, but he’s not stupid. Marilyn has found her way into his heart, that would be if he had one and that is affecting his mind daily, threatening the side he was in this soon coming war that would be coming soon, sooner than Lucifer expects.
Everyone expects it on day of the red moon, that the crystal palace would go berserk on the angels of the dark, but it was far from that.
Marilyn wasn’t involved in the plan, his plan but right now he’s trying to figure out a way for her out of these, although he knew that he would be digging his own grave and downfall. He has watched Lucifer slaughter half of his councilmen and guards who treated her no less than they treat him.
She doesn’t even know what he’s planning for her, she has no idea that he’s seeing her beyound what she takes him as, Erin couldn’t help to hide his feelings anymore that he has eaten the forbidden fruit.
He couldn’t hide it anymore, his feelings for Lucifer’s woman, Marilyn and when he was confronted about it by him, it was mere luck that Lucifer let him live.
"He...h..he has Jason, he’s keeping him here to keep me in check, I’m scared of what..he’s going to do to him." Marilyn stuttered, she was finding it hard to breathe. She’s having a panic attack and he held her close.
"Breathe, Marilyn. I’m here, breathe for me." Erin cooed, he fell to his knees on the floor while cradling Marilyn’s head to his chest, he didn’t care who walked in on them, he doesn’t care anymore.
Lucifer is one lucky motherfucker to get good things, but he doesn’t know how to treat them so it wouldn’t hurt if one steps in to do what he wasn’t doing.
"He’s not going to hurt him, I promise." Erin said, as stupid as it sounds that her heart belongs to another man he doesn’t care, all that mattered to him was seeing that she’s safe away from where Lucifer would hurt her.
"He will take..the girls away from me, I don’t want to lose anyone again." Marilyn cried, but he shushed her this time to weave his hands through her hair to calm her down.
While they were in such an affectionate position, It didn’t really occur to any of them that Lucifer was watching with angry eyes.
Keep calm and write something...
