Narika: The Ghost Bride-Chapter 188 - One Hundred And Eighty-Eight:You Need Me, Sergei.
Jason watched the way Sergei, Marilyn’s father, was shouting at his men on the phone. He didn’t need anyone to tell him that this was about Marilyn, and right now knowing what Alex told him about her, he felt uneasy knowing that there’s a big fat chance that what he was saying was the truth.
Lucifer’s name was the only thing he heard her shout that night, before he walked into an empty room. Besides, there’s no way any human intruder would have walked into this heavily guarded estate, and none of the cameras were able to capture him leaving with her.
So yes, it was time to believe Alex’s words, so without anything else to prove that Marilyn had either run away, or had been abducted by anyone if not Alex. Him mentioning the fact that polina is alive and has been abducted by his stepson, only made this unbelievable for him.
"Stupid! You can’t do anything right." Jason heard Sergei’s voice coming closer to where he sat outside on the foyer, and soon enough he joined him before taking up his coffee from the tray.
"I think there is something you need to know, father." Jason told him, making Sergei raise his brow up at him in suspicion.
"What is it? Have you decided to come clean that you are the one holding my daughter hostage?" Sergei spat, and Jason was forced to keep the information he had to himself, while letting the man believe whatever it is he wants, but then he knew that keeping this to himself wouldn’t help him, not Alex to find his daughter who he claimed was in Adrik’s possession rather would it stop Sergie from insinuating that he’s the one who took his daughter.
With nothing being said about what he said, he pressed on his phone before the recording containing him and Alex’s conversation had him and the old man paying attention, this time around without him harassing him about what this all was.
It took a good fifteen minutes for the record to stop playing, then a scoff left Sergei’s lips. The look on his face was the same look he had when he heard what Alex told him, he didn’t believe it. He didn’t believe what he heard.
"Seriously, you can’t tell me you are buying what that lame ass man just said?" Sergei turned to face him, and he gave him no indication to say that he didn’t believe what Alex just said. They had no evidence that Marilyn was kidnapped from the house, if they tried to involve the police in this.
Besides, it is up to him to believe him when he said that Marilyn was calling for Lucifer, but judging from the man’s statement earlier, it made him know that he’s going to be a difficult force to reckon with, but anyway he’s going to do this without him.
Lucifer can’t take Marilyn away from him, away from her life just because she had his son. Does he not have any regards for the living? Jason thought, but that was a stupid question to ask based on the famous mythology on what sort of a person Lucifer, the king of hell was.
"How long did you know about Adrik not being your son?" Sergei’s next question made him remember that Alex talked about Adrik altogether, but then Sergei’s behavior could show that he knew all along about Marilyn’s secret affair towards him.
Why did he keep it a secret?
Another stupid question altogether, because knowing what sort of a man Sergei was, he loved Marilyn and would do anything she wanted. So why bring up Adrik’s paternity to create a problem between the peaceful family? But what the both didn’t know is that, there’s not been peace ever since he found out that Adrik isn’t his son.
"I have known for a while, thanks to your precious daughter, who am going to risk my life to save from hell." Jason snapped, it was his time to act cocky because his father in-law had this embarrassed look on his face at knowing that he knew that Adrik isn’t his son, and he was an accomplice in keeping that information to himself.
Until when was he planning on hiding it away from him?
Not only that, he still had the right to treat him no less than a member of his family knowing what it’s going to cost him, if he reveals the dirty secret the Ivanovs family were hiding.
"He’s lying, Son. Alex.."
"Don’t you ever call me your son!" Jason snapped at him, seriously? Just because he caught him he’s now trying to buy his way out by calling him his son?
"Whatever i am doing right now, I am doing it just for Vanessa’s sake. I bet you haven’t imagined the fit she’s going to throw at finding out her mother has been kidnapped by her ex lover?" Jason asked with a sarcastic grin hanging at the end of his lips.
Sergei looked away in embarrassment, before finally saying." Fine, I will do well to keep her busy from asking about her mother.."
"She’s not a kid, you have to tell her the truth." Jason cut into his words again.
"You know I can’t do that." Sergei confessed, making Jason roll his eyes.
"Why? Because this time around lts your precious daughter who messed up instead of the son in-law you didn’t want?"
"You know you don’t have to be too corky about this?"
"Oh yes! I have every right to do as i please, your daughter’s life is in danger, believe it or not but you need me, Sergei. That’s why you can’t do anything to hurt me." Jason said everything he knew was running through the old man’s head, that it made him smirk because he knew he had been caught.
But anyway, he’s glad to know that things have changed and this time the ball is no longer in his court.
He stepped closer to him, before patting his face." If you want your daughter back, I guess it’s time for you to know who is in charge here." Jason said, grinning mischievously while it took everything in Sergei not to bash his head against the glass table.
"What do you want?" Sergei asked him, and he hopped up in happiness.
"That’s what i’m talking about!" Jason exclaimed, before coming closer to whisper in his ears which made Sergei know that once Marilyn is back where she belongs, he’s getting rid of this gold digger.
