Myths Reawakened-Chapter 237 (1): Master’s Master
That night, forced by Veronica to stay over, Vera could only watch helplessly as Kristen left. Wayne would be away for four months, so Senior was bound to go all out tonight. Thinking about how her crush would soon be abused by Senior thoroughly, Vera couldn’t stop herself from pacing around the room.
Pow!
“Oww!”
Veronica hit the top of her head with a hand chop. “What are you running around for? I’m getting dizzy watching you.”
“Senior, Senior...”
“What’s wrong with Senior? She’s heading back to teach Wayne, so she can’t stay. Don’t you love playing cards? I’ll play with you tonight.” Veronica smiled with self-satisfaction. “Not only tonight, but I’ll also play with you every day. Aren’t you happy about that?”
“Ha, what if I’m happy now?” Vera said sarcastically. “Once Senior gets pregnant, I wonder if you’ll still be able to laugh.”
“Senior has a boyfriend?” Veronica was shocked. While feeling jealousy for the unknown man, she said curiously, “Who is it? Where did you get the news? Why don’t I know about it?”
“Senior told me. It’s Wayne.”
“...”
Veronica rolled her eyes, hitting the top of Vera’s head with another hand chop.
“I’m being serious here, Veronica. Trust me this once, please. Just this once. If we head to Wayne’s place now, the two of them must be kissing.” Vera held her head and felt the urge to break down in tears. It was so frustrating that she couldn’t even find an ally.
“Save your nonsense. I’ve changed. Such terrible lies aren’t going to fool me.” Veronica was confident in her judgment. She had read the scumbag’s diary and learned from the scumbag, so Vera wasn’t going to fool her like she had done before.
“Yeah, you were just a little dense in the past, but now, you’re completely delusional. You keep targeting me when you should be targeting Senior.” Vera sighed nonstop, listing the facts. “Stop hitting me for once. Let me ask you, Veronica, is Wayne a pervert?”
“Of course!”
“Is Senior pretty?”
“Of course!”
“If you put a pervert and a pretty girl together, and they have one-on-one tutoring sessions every day, unsupervised, will the pretty girl not get pregnant by the end of it?”
“...”
“Say something, Veronica.”
“Of course it won’t happen!” Veronica huffed, poking Vera in the forehead. “Both of us know the kind of person Senior is. She’s never going to steal anything from someone else. Although Wayne’s a pervert, he... No matter what, he’s not going to cross the line with Senior. Don’t talk behind Senior’s back again. If she can’t get married in the future, are you going to take responsibility?”
ε=(´ο`*)))
Life was hard. Vera sighed deeply.
Knowing where the problem lay, Vera tried to make Veronica see the light with the right remedy, “Love is unpredictable. Wayne’s so good at fooling girls, and Senior’s a little naive in this regard. He only has to save her once, and she’ll fall for him.”
That’s true!
Veronica blinked and then shook her head. “Senior’s different. Wayne can’t fool her. You, on the other hand, raised your hands and surrendered before Wayne even tried to fool you.”
Speechless, Vera said stiffly, “I’ve said what I can. If Senior gets pregnant one day, I hope you won’t regret it.”
“I’ll only congratulate Senior for meeting someone she loves. Why would I regret it?”
“Write it down.” Vera rummaged through the drawers and found a pen and paper. “Words aren’t enough. I need proof to laugh at you in the future.”
“Why would I give you written proof? I only have to put my trust in Senior.”
Veronica didn’t know why she was feeling unsure. It was true that Senior was pure and incorruptible, but Wayne...
She began to see Vera’s point.
“See. You know the risk is too great. Before it’s too late, let me go to Wayne’s residence to keep an eye on him.” Vera spoke like a loyal servant. Veronica should believe her as a best friend. She guaranteed that she would prevent Wayne from losing his most precious essence.
Veronica scoffed. If she let Vera go, Vera would be the one to get pregnant. She wasn’t that stupid.
Her obvious scheme made it seem like she was only lying to Veronica to make her see Senior as a romantic rival. Then Vera would be able to seize the chance to make her move.
“Stop bulshitting. You’ll be staying here with me for the next few days. You’re not going anywhere or talking behind Senior Kristen’s back.” Veronica huffed, hitting Vera with yet another hand chop.
Pow!
“What’s that for?”
“I skipped one earlier.”
Veronica shook her head haughtily, dragging Vera to the second floor to play cards.
“Ahhh—”
“I don’t wanna play cards. Let me go!”

Wayne’s residence.
In the study, Wayne had his tutor in his arms. The one-on-one personal lesson became very up close and personal indeed. Seeing the satisfied smile on Kristen’s face, Wayne chuckled.
“Have you been smiling because Vera isn’t here, Senior?”
“That’s one reason,” Kristen said with a smile. “Today, I visited Veronica with Vera and gave her a little gift before her trip, hoping that she would become the Holy Maiden successfully.”
(一`´一;)
You haven’t talked about anything inappropriate, have you? Wayne thought nervously. Such as showing off your extraordinary boyfriends respectively and suddenly realizing that your boyfriends share the same name.
“Don’t worry. I didn’t rub salt in Veronica’s injury, and she’s moved on.” Kristen rested her head on his shoulder, speaking in a pleased tone. “Veronica acknowledged me and entrusted me to take care of her older brother. That’s why I’m happy.”
“Huh?!” Wayne was just about to rub his stiff peak in between her soft hills, but her words gave him pause. He said confusedly, “Be specific. What exactly did Veronica say?”
“She kept Vera at her place and told me to teach you well,” Kristen answered readily.
“Have you considered that Veronica meant it literally?” Wayne’s expression changed a few times. Although he liked her naive, he didn’t want to keep her in the dark. He said bluntly, “Again, I’m not Veronica’s brother. Me being Auston’s illegitimate son is nothing but a rumor. You know how one becomes an heir? It’s also possible through marriage.”
“Have you gotten engaged with Veronica?”
“No.”
“That’s it then. You’re the heir even without getting engaged, so you have to be an illegitimate son.”
Kristen’s argument was so logically sound that Wayne struggled to explain, “There’s some—well, a lot of—bad blood between Auston and me. He recognizes my competence, but he doesn’t like me. The two of us are so similar that he finds me particularly grating. That’s why Veronica and I haven’t gotten engaged.”
“He calls you Wayne Lando in public.”
“Again, it’s because he hates me that he’s still struggling with himself. He doesn’t want to give Veronica’s hand to me personally.”
“I don’t buy it.”
...Fine, you’re cute when you’re naive.
Wayne had told her the truth, but Kristen only believed what she could see. It all boiled down to Wayne and Auston being so similar that there didn’t seem to be any other explanation but them being father and son.
“Yeah, yeah. He’s my father, but I can still cheat on you since Veronica’s adopted,” Wayne made a desperate attempt.
∑(Ő_Ő;)
Kristen jerked up.
“You bought that? Really?” Wayne snorted.
“I suspected that, but Veronica looks identical to Auntie Silvia, which means you and Veronica are half-siblings. Mr. Lando must have another partner before meeting Auntie Silvia.” Kristen laid out her deductions seriously.
“Yes, it’s the Queen.”
“Huh?!” It was Kristen’s turn to be flabbergasted. She stammered stiffly, “Your mother is... You’re...”
She was so cute that Wayne couldn’t help but kiss her on the corner of her mouth. “You refuse to buy any of the truths but believe every lie. No wonder I was able to fool you. I suppose I don’t have to feel guilty.”
I’ll happily fall for your lies. Kristen put her head back on Wayne’s shoulder, saying sadly, “Four months are so long. I don’t want to be apart from you.”
“It’s okay. It won’t take four months. I don’t plan to become the Anointed One.”
“I know. You’re pulling out of the competition after getting rid of Veronica’s rivals.”
...Whatever makes you happy.
Thinking about the next four months she would spend without the man she adored, Kristen could no longer smile. She huffed in displeasure, asking to be coddled.
Wayne was already used to the process. He consoled her the way he had consoled Filomina during the day: distracting her with stories about Auston’s past scandals, involving the royal family. The twists and turns about the Prince and Princess’s questionable paternal lineage left Kristen gasping in shock.
Kristen wouldn’t spread the gossip, but Filomina was another story. Perhaps when Wayne returned four months later, all of Londan would’ve learned of the royal family’s scandals. Actually, once Londan knew, her century-old friend Franc would know, too. Then Prussia would get wind of it.
Sooner or later, all of the Chosen Land would know that Auston had a past with the Queen. How preposterous for a knight to devote himself to charging into his master rather than charging into battles. He deserved to be shot ten thousand times over.
What a great plan!
Wayne gave himself a thumbs-up. He would never miss a chance to set Auston up. It was his favorite sport in which he was more eager than anyone.
Actually, he wasn’t setting Auston up, but giving Auston a taste of his own medicine. It was revenge for the big shot threatening him and forcing him to flee to the countryside. Wayne still harbored a lot of grievances!
The lesson clearly couldn’t be continued, and Wayne didn’t try. He asked his teacher for permission to leave the class early.
With his teacher’s permission, he started his date with his girlfriend.
