Mythical Three Kingdoms-Chapter 1340 - 1292: The Insane Fifth Question
Sheni Pei, this person, after all, has worked with Xun Yu, so he knows him well. This guy tends to play the role of a "pig teammate" when there are too many teammates, but when he’s alone, he can turn the tide and become a super deity. In simple terms, Xun Yu thinks Sheni Pei is excessively authoritarian.
Or rather, it shouldn’t be said that he’s authoritarian; it’s more that Sheni Pei doesn’t like having people oppose him. When he calls the shots alone, he often resolves most difficult situations.
"So should we now fan the flames and let our internal problems erupt as soon as possible?" Chen Qun frowned and said, "But considering Liu Bei’s method of planning before acting, once they take action, results are bound to follow, and we don’t have much time."
"It’s unlikely that Sheni Pei won’t hold up until this autumn or winter." Xun Yu thought for a moment and said, "If no one under Yuan Tan expresses any different opinions, they might be able to hold on longer."
"That’s actually good news." Cao Cao laughed heartily and said, "Since that’s the case, let’s proceed accordingly. Isn’t Liu Bei’s Army supposed to be strong and formidable? Let’s also let them witness the brave generals under my command, Cao Mengde!"
Immediately, Cao Cao quickly arranged personnel for everyone, and then they began to leave one after another. The situation in the land was gradually starting to become clearer.
After Sima Yi returned to the Sima Family with Sima Lang, Sima Lang felt that there was nothing much to say to his younger brother. He had never understood the other, so the two sat facing each other across the table in silence for a long time.
"Zhongda, since you have made your choice, then so be it. You’ve grown up." Sima Lang patted Sima Yi on the shoulder and said.
"Elder Brother..." Sima Yi opened his mouth, almost wanting to reveal everything, but after hesitating several times, he finally gave up. It was not yet the right time.
On the other side, in Ye City, Chen Xi unsurprisingly received the letter sent by Sima Lang. He couldn’t help but feel a little smug. Sima Yi ultimately didn’t escape from his, the Tathagata’s, palm, and his mood improved greatly.
"Zichuan, it seems your mood is quite good." Li Youu glanced at him and said.
"Yes, I brought a rival for Kongming." Chen Xi said with a smile.
Li Youu was speechless, then looked at Chen Xi and solemnly said, "If that’s truly the case, it’s a great joy."
"How many have signed up now? The mathematics examination is tomorrow." Chen Xi turned his head to look at Li Youu and asked, since Liu Ye wasn’t there, the mathematics examination was also Li Youu’s responsibility.
"The test has been prepared." Li Youu said expressionlessly, handing the paper to Chen Xi.
The first question is the chicken and rabbit in the same cage, fine, a giveaway; the second question, the Pythagorean theorem, is not too hard; the third question, the field ratio, Chen Xi solved with a swift stroke, but this one is a bit tricky, the answer is not an integer; the fourth is a modified version of the Nine Chapters on the Mathematical Art’s five families share a well, not too difficult.
After all, among those examinees, some have reached a level equivalent to the second or third year of junior high school in future generations. Although these questions are relatively difficult, Chen Xi being able to solve them in a snap means they definitely won’t be too difficult for those legitimate daughters. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
"Why only four questions?" Chen Xi looked at Li Youu in confusion; wasn’t it agreed that there would be five questions before? Quite a few people could score full marks on these four.
"If you look over, there’s one question left for you. I thought, although my numerology isn’t bad, it’s still not easy to completely dominate those girls, so you can make one question." Li Youu stroked his beard with a matter-of-fact expression.
Which makes sense, since Li Youu learned at around the same level as that group, it wouldn’t be easy to firmly suppress them now.
"Oh, how about a simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division within a hundred?" Chen Xi had a sudden thought, recalling a maddening question, and thus spoke to Li Youu.
"Might as well have me make a question about calculating the changes of the sunny and shady sides of a mountain." Li Youu said grumpily.
"As if you could calculate addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division within a hundred." Chen Xi chuckled, recalling how that question had once given him a headache.
Li Youu gestured with an inviting motion, with a "bring it on" expression.
"Guiguzi has two disciples, one called Sun Bin, another called Pang Juan." Chen Xi began the outline, but before he could continue, Li Youu interrupted him.
"When Pang Juan set out, Sun Bin and Pang Juan thought they were old enough without ever celebrating their master’s birthday, so they planned to give Guiguzi a birthday celebration." Chen Xi continued his narrative, disregarding Li Youu entirely.
"In the end, they suddenly realized they didn’t know their teacher’s birthday at all, so they asked the teacher. Guiguzi laughed and posed a problem, saying he’d tell them if they answered correctly." Chen Xi completely ignored Li Youu’s angry gaze and continued spending time.
"Guiguzi picked two numbers between two and ninety-nine, telling Pang Juan the sum and Sun Bin the product." Here, Chen Xi’s expression turned slightly serious, recalling how this problem almost stumped him—fortunately, no one was able to solve it...
"The next day, Pang Juan saw Sun Bin and arrogantly said, ’I may not know the two numbers, but I’m certain you don’t either.’ Sun Bin rolled his eyes, ’I didn’t know before, but now I do.’ Pang Juan, with a gloomy face, calculated and quickly said, ’I know too now.’ Sun Bin shrugged, ’I can celebrate the teacher’s birthday.’ Thus, Sun Bin happily went to celebrate Guiguzi’s birthday." Chen Xi smiled at Li Youu.
Li Youu felt bewildered; though he remembered every word, for some reason, when strung together, Li Youu felt he couldn’t understand what the problem was about.
"Is this a question?" Li Youu felt his mind turning to mush.
"Yes, this is the question: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division within a hundred." Chen Xi chuckled, knowing this maddening question leaves ninety-nine point nine percent of people baffled, and the remaining point one percent clueless on where to start.
"Sun Bin and Pang Juan are truly exceptional." Li Youu said with a twitching eye, feeling utterly lost.
"Whether they’re exceptional or not, I don’t know, I just know you can’t solve it." Chen Xi said grumpily, "Alright, let it be. This question will be the final one in the mathematics exam, the first four questions each worth ten points, and this last question sixty points; simple and straightforward."
"..." Li Youu felt Chen Xi was quite inconsiderate too, "I don’t believe anyone will be able to solve this question then, especially with the requirement to write out the solution process."
"There might be someone who can solve it, who knows." Chen Xi shrugged and said, "Just to put Mi’er and her group in their place, do they really think their math skills are unparalleled? This question doesn’t need to be printed, just write it on the board during the exam to avoid leaking it."
Li Youu nodded in agreement; whether or not the first four questions get leaked isn’t a big deal, as someone will surely score full marks; as for the last question, leaking it wouldn’t matter either, Li Youu deeply felt this—after all, Li Youu didn’t believe any normal person could solve it.
