Chapter 96: Tier 4 Magic?!

"You’re seriously incredible!"

Ethan gave Cicero an enthusiastic thumbs-up, genuinely impressed. Curiosity quickly took over, and he asked, "Hey Cicero, what’s the deal with this Forest Realm and Storm Realm stuff?"

"They’re basically two different domain forms," Cicero explained casually. "In Forest Realm, I can severely restrict enemy movements and massively reduce magic damage—70% reduction for anything below Tier 4, and even Tier 4 magic gets a 10% reduction."

He paused briefly, then added with a confident grin, "As for Storm Realm, that’s my strongest combat form!"

"Wait, group magic immunity?!" Ethan’s eyes widened in shock, completely stunned. Sure, it wasn’t total immunity, but a 70% reduction for Tier 3 magic and 10% for Tier 4 was still insanely overpowered!

This guy was practically the ultimate nightmare for god-tier mages!

"Could it be that all the real pros are slackers?" Ethan muttered to himself, still reeling from the revelation. Cicero was the textbook definition of a slacker, yet somehow he always managed to stay one step ahead of Seraphina.

Was this the true meaning behind the existence of slackers?

Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, Ethan turned toward Elyra. "What about you, Elyra?"

Overall Evaluation: Grade B Orange Legendary Hero!

Compared to Cicero’s ridiculously overpowered stats, Elyra’s attributes after reaching adulthood seemed much more balanced and "by-the-book."

First off, no new talents had appeared.

Secondly, aside from Divine Storm, Avatar of Light & Thunder, and Unicorn Highlord upgrading to level 2, Elyra’s other talents hadn’t changed much at all.

What really surprised Ethan was that the devastating Divine Storm he’d seen earlier wasn’t even at Tier 4 Magic damage yet.

"Looks like Tier 4 Magic is way scarier than I imagined," Ethan muttered thoughtfully.

"Tier 4 Magic is considered second only to divine power," Cicero chimed in immediately upon hearing Ethan’s words. "If Seraphina or I took a direct hit from it—even at our current strength—we’d be seriously injured!"

He paused, his tone becoming more serious. "And a fully unleashed Tier 4 Magic—even the weakest one—can easily wipe out an army of millions. On the battlefield, Tier 4 Magic is every enemy’s worst nightmare!"

"Wait, Tier 4 Magic can slaughter millions?!" Ethan stared blankly for a second, then turned to Elyra with exaggerated seriousness, teasing her playfully. "Elyra, looks like you’ll have to work extra hard! The future of Emerald Castle is counting on you!"

"Huh? Wha—me?!" Elyra stammered, clearly flustered and overwhelmed by the sudden responsibility. She quickly nodded earnestly, "Don’t worry, Master! I’ll definitely work hard and master Level 3 Divine Storm as soon as possible!"

Ethan hadn’t expected Elyra to take his joke so seriously.

"Hey, relax, relax!" Ethan laughed warmly, shaking his head to reassure her. "I was just kidding. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. But if you ever need help, Cicero’s magic is pretty impressive too—you can always ask him."

"Understood, Master!" Elyra nodded obediently, visibly relieved.

Just then, Elynn suddenly spoke up. "Master, what about those two Hell Gates? Should we destroy them?"

"Hell Gates?" Ethan paused, turning toward Seraphina and Cicero. "Can you two destroy those gates?"

"Absolutely," Seraphina nodded calmly. "The demonic magic energy on those Hell Gates has already dissipated. It seems they’ve abandoned them completely."

"Then let’s destroy them immediately!" Ethan said decisively.

Leaving the Hell Gates intact would always be a hidden danger. Destroying them now would put everyone’s minds at ease.

"On it!" Seraphina immediately took flight, soaring swiftly toward the abandoned Hell Gates. Moments later, both gates exploded into rubble, collapsing into ruins.

But just as everyone began to relax, something unexpected suddenly happened!

Just then, space suddenly twisted and warped, and an incredibly sinister demonic force appeared mid-air.

A distorted spatial portal opened up, revealing a terrifying scene on the other side—Inferno Castle, a place of scorched earth, sulfurous smoke, and dark flames rising into the sky.

Atop the castle’s highest terrace sat a massive, blood-red demon, lounging elegantly in a chair. His cruel, ruthless eyes pierced through the spatial portal, radiating a terrifying aura of dominance and malice.

Then, with a cold chuckle, he spoke mockingly, "Ah, it’s just the little worms from the Green Dragon clan. It’s been quite a while, hasn’t it?"

"You’ve won this round, I’ll give you that. But next time, the wrath of the great Infernal Lord Baelthar will burn your souls to ashes! Until then, tremble in fear! Hahaha..."

With a harsh, demonic laugh echoing through the air, the spatial portal exploded violently, shattering into dust and vanishing into the sky.

"Infernal Lord... a Tier 13 Devil from the Demon race, huh?" Ethan murmured thoughtfully, staring at the spot where the portal had vanished. Then, a confident smirk appeared on his lips. "Next time, we’ll see who’s beating who!"

If the Infernal demons wanted to enter the main plane of the "Glory Lords X" world, they’d either have to sneak in unnoticed or launch a full-scale invasion, triggering a planar war.

Otherwise, once discovered, the top-tier powerhouses of the Light Alliance—those legendary big shots—would never let them leave alive.

In other words, Infernal Lord Baelthar’s threats were nothing but empty bravado to Ethan.

On the contrary, once Emerald Castle’s own elite forces grew stronger, maybe they’d pay Infernal a little visit themselves. It’d be interesting to see just how powerful this so-called Infernal Lord Baelthar, a Tier 13 Devil hero, really was!

Just then, a series of system notifications suddenly rang in Ethan’s ears:

"Player ’Valkarion’ has destroyed the Hell Gate. Gained 20,000 Light Alliance reputation points, 1,000,000 gold coins, and 30 units of each of the six major resources."

"Player Valkarion, your S-level storyline quest—’Infernal Outpost Battle’—has been completed! Rewards have been calculated as follows:"

"4,000,000 gold coins, 100 units of each of the six major resources. Choose either six Tier 11 units (specific or random) or two random Tier 12 units. Additionally, you receive one specified Level 3 Strategic Artifact, one random Level 3 Strategic Artifact, and a Tier 4 Magic Scroll—’Armageddon Tempest’ (Incomplete, 1/3)."

"Tier 4 Magic—Armageddon Tempest?" Ethan froze for a moment, then excitement surged through him.

Talk about perfect timing!

They’d literally just been discussing how insanely powerful and terrifying Tier 4 magic was, and not even a minute later, one had actually appeared in his hands!

"But what’s this ’Incomplete’ supposed to mean?"

Ethan glanced at the reward description—"Incomplete, 1/3."

Without hesitation, he took out the magic scroll and handed it directly to Cicero. "Hey Cicero, take a look at this for me."

In the world of "Glory Lords X," magic scrolls and magic blueprints were two entirely different things.

Magic scrolls were basically spells inscribed onto parchment—usable only once, and impossible to learn from.

Magic blueprints, on the other hand, were the exact opposite. You couldn’t directly cast the spell from them, but you could study and permanently learn the magic they contained!

"What’s this?" Cicero took the blueprint Ethan handed him, eyes widening in surprise. "A Tier 4 Magic blueprint—Armageddon Tempest?"

"Tier 4 Magic?!"

"No way, seriously?"

"A magic blueprint? Doesn’t that mean we can actually learn it?" freewёbnoνel.com

As soon as Cicero spoke, Seraphina, Elynn, and Elyra all gasped in shock and excitement.

"Yes... it’s definitely a Tier 4 Magic blueprint. Unfortunately, it’s incomplete," Cicero nodded slowly, then shook his head regretfully.

"Incomplete?" Seraphina blinked, confused. "What does that mean exactly?"

"Incomplete magic blueprints are almost impossible to learn from, and even if you manage it, the spell’s power and damage will be significantly weaker than the complete version," Cicero explained patiently. Then he paused, a thoughtful look crossing his face. "But I might be able to try restoring it."

"You can restore it?" Ethan asked, excitement lighting up his face.

"I can give it a shot," Cicero replied cautiously. "Armageddon Tempest happens to be a Storm-attribute spell, and I have the Storm Magic Mastery talent..."

But then Cicero shook his head again, looking at Ethan seriously. "Still, Master, I can’t guarantee success. If we manage to find another fragment of this Armageddon Tempest blueprint, though, I’m pretty confident I could piece it together."

"No worries, Cicero. Don’t stress about it," Ethan reassured him immediately. "We’ll take it step by step. If it works, great. If not, no big deal."

Even though this S-level quest reward might seem less generous than the last one, that was just an illusion.

A Tier 4 Magic blueprint—even an incomplete one—was worth far more than all the other rewards combined, multiplied several times over!

Why?

Simple.

Because this blueprint was essentially a ticket—a pass into the realm of Tier 4 Magic, a power hailed as "second only to the gods themselves!"

If they succeeded, Emerald Castle would possess military strength comparable to an entire nation. A fully mastered Tier 4 Magic spell would allow them to go toe-to-toe with first-rate kingdoms like the Unicorn Duchy!

Cicero smiled confidently and nodded. "Leave it to me."

Meanwhile, Ethan’s eyes fell onto the second quest reward:

"Choose either six Tier 11 units (specific or random), or two random Tier 12 units."

Without hesitation, Ethan declared, "I’ll take the Tier 12 units!"

He’d seen firsthand today just how powerful Tier 12 units could be—the Wyvern Monarch and Cyclops King had both been absolutely incredible, far surpassing any Tier 11 unit.

Tier 12 units were clearly the superior choice, even if they were random.

"System notification: Player ’Valkarion’ has selected two random Tier 12 units. Randomizing now... Randomization complete!"

"Congratulations! Player ’Valkarion’ has received the following random Tier 12 units: Cyclops King (Tier 12) x1, Naga Queen (Tier 12) x1. Please check your rewards..."
