Mystic Calling:Stone of Glory-Chapter 80: A god-tier mage
Chapter 80: A god-tier mage
"Hero quest? What hero quest? You mean that Blazing Griffin Knight hero you mentioned last time?"
Ethan asked curiously.
"Not him. Me." Emily shook her head.
"You?"
Ethan was stunned for a moment, then his eyes lit up with excitement. "A personal hero advancement quest?"
"Mhm..." Emily nodded, then leaned in mysteriously. "Hey, do you know about Radiant Spirit?"
"Radiant Spirit? Never heard of it." Ethan shook his head.
"Radiant Spirit is a Tier 9 special hidden unit from the human faction in the Castle alliance!"
Emily explained briefly before continuing. "With Aeliana’s help, I managed to get in touch with the Radiant Spirit Grand Magister in Dunmire’s main city! And I got a B-rank personal chain quest."
"If I complete it successfully, I can advance into a Radiant Spirit hero and learn Tier 1 to Tier 3 Light Magic!"
A Tier 9 special hidden unit.
A B-rank personal chain quest.
A Radiant Spirit hero?
"That actually sounds pretty solid..." Ethan rubbed his chin, murmuring thoughtfully. "A hero based on a Tier 9 special hidden unit... that’s gotta be at least an Epic-tier hero, right?"
"Of course!" Emily rolled her eyes at him, then sighed. "This is a B-rank personal chain quest! No one in the world has completed one of these yet. If it weren’t for you being some kind of chosen one, I would’ve just given up or sold the quest to a guild."
She paused for a moment, then looked at Ethan, her eyes gleaming.
"Hey, why don’t you hatch that Tier 11 Unicorn hero egg first? I’m really curious to see what tier its hero form will be and what kind of innate skills it’ll have."
As soon as she said that, Ethan glanced at Emily.
Of course, he could tell she had ulterior motives.
But he didn’t call her out on it.
The next moment, Ethan carefully picked up the Unicorn hero egg, cradling it in both hands.
[Unicorn Egg]
Status: Ready to hatch
"Unicorn egg detected. Would you like to form a contract and hatch it?"
Ethan took a deep breath and nodded. "Hatch!"
"Crack..."
The sound of the eggshell breaking echoed in his ears.
"Gulu-lulu."
"Gulu-lulu..."
A tiny head, covered in a thin layer of sticky fluid yet pristine white, poked out from the eggshell. Its eyes were still shut, giving it a clueless, newborn look.
The little creature let out a soft whimper.
Ethan immediately understood what it was saying.
It was hungry.
Well, this wasn’t his first time dealing with this.
Carefully, he picked up some of the broken eggshell pieces scattered around and held them out to the little one.
"Crunch! Crunch! Crunch..."
The baby unicorn eagerly chomped down on the eggshells Ethan offered.
"Gulu-lulu! Gulu-lulu..."
A happy sound escaped from the tiny creature as it seemed to regain some strength.
Its gem-like eyes, pure and flawless, struggled to open. It blinked a few times, looking around curiously before finally locking onto Ethan’s face.
Then, with a delighted squeal, it wobbled toward him, stumbling over its own tiny legs.
"Whoa, careful! Don’t fall..."
Ethan reacted quickly, catching the little unicorn just in time.
"Gulu-lulu!"
Nestled in Ethan’s arms, the baby unicorn let out a joyful sound, like the melody of a forest song.
In its eyes, Ethan saw nothing but warmth and trust.
And strangely enough, he felt the same way.
It was the same feeling he had when he first met Cicero and Seraphina.
A rare, genuine smile spread across Ethan’s face.
He gently ran a finger over the unicorn’s soft head and chuckled. "Hey there, little one. Nice to meet you. I’m not your dad, but you can think of me as your closest person... It’s really nice to meet you, cutie."
"Gulu-lulu! Gulu-lulu! Gulu-lulu!"
The baby unicorn seemed to understand his words. It got so excited that it started nuzzling against Ethan, nodding its tiny head repeatedly.
Just then, a system notification popped up in Ethan’s ears.
"Congratulations, player ’Valkarion,’ for becoming the first player in Glory Lords X to contract and recruit a Tier 11 unit hero. Reward: +10,000 Light Alliance reputation, 100,000 gold, and 5 units each of wood, ore, crystal, mercury, gems, and sulfur."
"Ding! Player ’Valkarion’ has reached 51,000 Light Alliance reputation. You are now eligible to claim the title of Viscount in any main city within the Light Alliance (Castle, Forest, or Tower factions)."
Ethan raised an eyebrow. "That’s it? The rewards seem kinda underwhelming."
Becoming the first player in Glory Lords X to contract a Tier 11 unit hero should’ve come with a much bigger reward.
There was only one explanation for this.
Someone had already claimed the first-ever contract for a Tier 13 unit hero, which had set the bar ridiculously high for similar achievements.
Ethan shook his head, brushing the thought aside.
Instead, he focused on the second notification.
"I can claim a Viscount title now?"
Now that was good news.
Noble titles in the Light Alliance were incredibly valuable. If used wisely, they could lead to some unexpected and massive benefits.
"Gulu-lulu! Gulu-lulu..."
Meanwhile, the baby unicorn started getting anxious when Ethan stopped paying attention to it.
It tugged at his clothes with its tiny teeth, letting out pitiful little cries.
It looked so wronged.
"Alright, alright, come here. Let me hold you."
Ethan expertly comforted the little unicorn while pulling up its status screen, eager to see what kind of abilities it had.

"These stats are insane..."
Ethan stared at Elyra’s status panel for a long moment, completely stunned before finally blurting out his amazement.
If you asked him right now what his impression of this little unicorn was, he’d have only one answer:
A god-tier mage.
A god-tier mage wielding both Lightning and Light magic!
Her ridiculously high Spell Power and Knowledge stats meant insane magic damage and a massive mana pool. And on top of that, talents like Divine Storm, Sacred Resistance, Thunder Resistance, Avatar of Light & Thunder—all of them were pure magic-based abilities!
And Divine Storm? That had to be on the same level as Venomous Dragon Breath—a massive area-of-effect attack! That alone was incredibly rare and valuable. Because in magic combat, AoE spells mean power. They mean destruction. They mean rarity.
Just imagine—if a large-scale war broke out, and a god-tier mage like Elyra stood on the battlefield, casually throwing out high-level AoE spells...
What would that even look like?
Probably pure despair for the enemy.
Lower-tier units wouldn’t even stand a chance. One spell, and entire squads would be wiped out.
A walking battlefield sweeper.
In fact, in some ways, a god-tier mage of the same tier was way more terrifying than a single-target warrior powerhouse.
But of course, even a god-tier mage has some pretty obvious weaknesses.
The biggest one? They suck at one-on-one fights.
In a duel, a same-tier war god would absolutely wreck a god-tier mage.
Hell, even if the mage had the numbers advantage, winning would still be tough.
Why?
Simple.
God-tier mages are glass cannons. Their HP is way too low.
Meanwhile, war gods? They’re tanks. Thick-skinned, heavily armored, insanely fast, and their attack power is off the charts. That’s why, unless a mage can keep their distance, the moment a war god gets close—it’s over.
But on the flip side, a god-tier mage and a war god together?
That’s the ultimate duo.
The mage wipes the battlefield clean with massive AoE spells.
The war god takes out high-value targets or protects the mage.
Once this deadly combo gets rolling, it’s an absolute nightmare for the enemy. Lower-tier units? They’re nothing but free EXP and cannon fodder.
And that’s not even the scariest part.
Elyra can learn and create Tier 1-3 Lightning spells and Tier 1-4 Light spells.
That’s insane.
In the world of Glory Lords X, magic is ridiculously hard to come by. Especially high-tier spells. Most of them are tightly controlled by the major factions, locked away like priceless treasures. If you don’t have the right connections—or a ton of luck—even getting your hands on a Tier 3 spell is a pipe dream.
And then there’s the Wisdom restriction on high-tier magic.
That’s the real killer.
Even if you somehow get a high-tier spell, you can’t use it unless your Wisdom stat is high enough. It’s like having a treasure chest full of gold but no key to open it.
Frustrating as hell.
To actually learn and cast high-tier magic, your Wisdom level has to reach a certain threshold. That’s why any ability that bypasses the Wisdom requirement is basically a god-tier skill.
"Bro, well? What Tier is it? Let me see!"
Emily couldn’t hold back her curiosity any longer. Ethan had just muttered something about Elyra’s stats being insane, then completely zoned out.
She needed answers.
"See for yourself."
Ethan didn’t bother explaining. He just shared Elyra’s status panel with her.
