Chapter 477: Chapter 315: On the Eve of the Spring Festival Gala

After the last dress rehearsal ended, there was a brief period of free time before the recording of the backup broadcast, which was also the last full-costume, full-scene, and full-process practice.

According to the director’s requirements, although this wasn’t an actual performance, everyone needed to give one hundred percent of their attitude and energy to ensure there were no problems.

If perfection couldn’t be achieved during rehearsal, how could one expect a flawless live performance?

There were still a few days left before the recording of the backup broadcast, and it was just six days until New Year’s Eve.

In the midst of the hustle and bustle, Unlimited Entertainment and Xu Qingqiu’s studio held a lively company party together.

The party was held in a hotel banquet hall. It was a relaxed affair without many complicated or serious procedures; the two bosses, President Chu and Xu Qingqiu, just said a few auspicious words on stage before things kicked off.

The meal was served first. After everyone had eaten and drunk their fill, and the fruit platters and snacks were set out, the performances began.

A few actors from Unlimited Entertainment put on a skit, told jokes, and performed dance routines; even Li Suyao, who played Meijia, surprised everyone by singing a song on stage.

After Unlimited Entertainment’s actors finished their performances, it was time for the various departments to present their own skits. These included TV drama imitations, crosstalk imitations, violin and piano duets, and, to everyone’s astonishment, even an erhu performance.

To say it was a gathering of hidden talents would be an understatement. Of course, that didn’t include the mock rock band from the production department. President Chu laughed so hard his face cramped, terrified their act might get them slapped with a subpoena if it ever made its way online.

Once Unlimited Entertainment’s acts were over, it was Xu Qingqiu’s studio’s turn.

In contrast to Unlimited Entertainment, where actors were the focus, the studio was much more professional. After all, for small theater performances like these, actors weren’t as versatile as Singers; a Singer could hold an entire show with just a microphone and their voice.

There really was no comparison.

First to take the stage was naturally Li Guang. As the youngest, he went up and, without saying much, sang "Dalabengba," the song Chu Tian had written for him. He had new songs too, but it wasn’t time for those yet, so Chu Tian hadn’t released them.

As for Yang Lin and Chen Feng, the Phoenix Legend duo, their rendition of "The Most Dazzling Ethnic Style" nearly turned the venue into a chaotic marketplace.

Chu Tian could never have imagined that there were actual fans of Phoenix Legend within his own company. The moment they heard their favorite Singers performing live, several young girls shrieked so loudly they attracted the bewildered waitstaff from outside the hall.

The atmosphere was electric. A gaggle of young girls chased Li Guang for autographs and photos, while the cleaning ladies gushed over Yang Lin, holding her hands and praising her endlessly. This scene had Chu Tian and Xu Qingqiu roaring with laughter.

Yang Lin’s utterly resigned expression as she dealt with the adoring cleaning ladies only added to the hilarity. It was priceless.

The final act was Wu Ya performing his new song, "Dusk." Surprisingly, many of his male colleagues turned out to be long-time fans. They were so moved they wept openly, which left Wu Ya quite flustered.

After his performance, he found himself having to comfort these fans. It was unclear whether their tears were genuine or if they were just trying to trick him. Wu Ya kept insisting he wouldn’t drink, but he was eventually pressured into downing two glasses of alcohol anyway.

If Chu Tian hadn’t stepped in, explaining that Wu Ya still hadn’t fully recovered his health, he might not have escaped the hall that day.

Once all the departments from the studio had finished their acts, Xu Qingqiu, who initially hadn’t planned to go on stage, was urged on by the crowd and eventually relented.

Feeling she couldn’t refuse, she walked up boldly, and as she went, she impulsively grabbed Chu Tian and pulled him along with her.

"I’m thrilled we can all be together today. I’ve been incredibly busy lately and haven’t had time to prepare anything, so I’ll just do something simple," she said. Then, glancing at Chu Tian who stood beside her with an amused smile, her tone shifted playfully as she asked, "What do you suggest we perform, President Chu?"

"Um... huh? Weren’t *you* the one performing?"

Even though I knew it was trouble the moment she dragged me on stage, I figured I’d play dumb for as long as I could. If she doesn’t spell it out, I’ll just pretend I don’t get it. Best to bluff my way through if possible.

"Great! Thanks for the suggestion, President Chu. In that case, we’ll perform ’Wanna Sing My Song For You’." 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

"Eh? Wait, when did I make that suggestion?"

A setup! This is a total setup!

Chu Tian stood there, dumbfounded, watching Xu Qingqiu speak into the microphone as if everything she said was perfectly true.

I never would have guessed! My girlfriend, who looks so innocent and kind with her earnest face, actually knows how to play these games!

Unfortunately, when they went on stage, only Xu Qingqiu had a microphone; Chu Tian had nothing.

I originally thought this meant I wouldn’t have to perform. I never imagined this would be my undoing!

How could I not be at a disadvantage? This was a grand banquet hall, the kind used for wedding receptions, capable of holding one or two hundred people. Standing on stage, unless I shouted at the top of my lungs, the people at the back wouldn’t hear a thing.

And Xu Qingqiu was clearly taking advantage of this. No matter what he said, she only conveyed what *she* wanted them to hear, leaving the audience completely oblivious to his protests.

As for the people in the front? They were either executives or artists, most of whom knew Chu Tian well. By now, they were all roaring with laughter at Xu Qingqiu’s clever maneuver, not caring in the slightest that he was being thoroughly tricked.

While he was still reeling, Xu Qingqiu gave a subtle signal to someone nearby. Just like that, a microphone was mysteriously thrust into Chu Tian’s hand.

"Fine, fine. You’re really something else."

My confusion was feigned; my speechlessness was real.
