Chapter 37 -37 Progesterone (7)_1

“I can’t be without Liangnian…”

“Ha…” Liang Chen had no idea what was happening to him. Upon hearing Jing Haohao’s words, it was as if a blazing inferno erupted within his chest, burning him from the inside out.

“You can’t be without Liangnian?”

“Have you ever considered that Shen Liangnian might not give a damn about you?”

“That’s impossible, Liangnian loves me.” Jing Haohao’s eyes radiated an earnest truth. “We love each other.”

Love each other?

Bullshit!

Liang Chen abruptly stood up from his chair. With one swift kick, he sent the dining table sliding across the floor, causing plates and cutlery to crash onto the ground. He turned to face Jing Haohao, his voice simmering with rage. “Jing Haohao, Shen Liangnian is…”

Just as Liang Chen got to this point, he met Jing Haohao’s gaze.

Her face was hauntingly pale, seeming both pitiful and pathetic. But her eyes, they carried a tenacity, a stubbornness.

Deep in her universe-like eyes, a resolute defiance sparkled.

Seemingly representative of her unyielding faith in Shen Liangnian.

Liang Chen fell abruptly silent.

In truth, he wanted to say it. Seethed to confront her with the fact that the man she idealized was unfaithful.

He wanted to see the spectacle of her shattered illusions.

But the words, “Shen Liangnian has been maintaining a little starlet behind your back for two years,” somehow got stuck in his throat. Swallowed back down, bit by bitter bit.

He must be going insane.

Never before had anyone irritated him to such an extent.

And yet, for a woman he’d whimsically slept with on a capricious night, he was sacrificing his pride.

Liang Chen exhaled a slow breath, turning his gaze away.

Jing Haohao hadn’t expected Liang Chen to stop mid-way. After a while, when he showed no sign of continuing, she lifted her gaze to meet his.

She found him turned away, his eyes half-closed, masking their luster. His previously passionate fury had now dissolved into a languid aloofness, making it hard to discern his true thoughts.

Perhaps sensing Jing Haohao’s gaze, Liang Chen slowly turned back to face her. He met her gaze without a word, pursed his lips and then leaped past his previous topic back to the initial one. He said, “Don’t dare to test my limit. Otherwise, I’ll make sure you watch as I bring Shen Liangnian down to his knees slowly but surely. I’ll give you one day. By tomorrow night, I want a call from you.”

Jing Haohao knew that she couldn’t afford to lock horns with Liang Chen.

Rather than prolonging a hopeless argument and risking further harm to both herself and Shen Liangnian, she’d better find a way to vanish from his sight and figure out her next move from there.

With that thought, Jing Haohao seemed truly intimidated by Liang Chen and softening her tone, asked, “Could you give me a few more days?”
