Chapter 77: Chapter 76: No More Saintess After Jiu Xi

Jiang Zuo went straight to bed the moment he got home. He was completely exhausted today.

Not getting enough sleep was one thing, but beating up Steward Liu had also worn him out.

He wasn’t in bed for long before he got up again. He’d just bought a planter and needed to sow the Forget-me-not. Keeping the Forget-me-not in his room would be somewhat beneficial for him.

As for the other Magical Treasures, Jiang Zuo didn’t pay them much mind. They were all things he couldn’t use anyway.

What he cared about most was the Bright Moon Bead. The Bright Moon Bead and the Sun Flame Stone were practically on the same level, and they were his most crucial assets for breaking through to the Innate Three Qi realm.

If he hadn’t placed two seals on himself before, he could have very likely used these two items to directly break into the Innate Three Qi realm.

Unfortunately, his chances of success were much lower now.

He would have to gather the Essence of Sun and Moon and the Five Elements Power before trying again. That would significantly increase his chances of success.

And by the looks of it, he would need the absolute best materials for the Five Elements Attribute Power. Something like Profound Iron Wood was no longer high-grade enough.

The Ice Crystal Wood Lotus would work, which meant he still needed four other sources of Five Elements Attribute Power.

Theoretically, he could try to buy them from Liuyue Xue, but unfortunately, he had no money. Besides, there was no guarantee they would even have items of that quality.

Take the Sun Flame Stone and the Bright Moon Bead for example—they might not even have something like the Ice Crystal Wood Lotus.

After sorting everything out, Jiang Zuo lay back down on his bed. This time, he planned to sleep until he woke up naturally.

In some unknown, faraway place stood a mountain peak that soared into the clouds, its slopes blanketed in white snow.

Yet at its very peak, flowers, grass, and trees bloomed in defiance of the frost.

Atop this mountain was a peculiar lake.

The surface of the lake was starkly divided. One half was crystal clear, while the other was as dark and gloomy as the abyss.

By the shore of the clear half, a young, beautiful woman with an ethereal air sat like a girl, her bare feet playfully splashing in the water.

"Trespassing in the Forbidden Land and now washing your feet in the lake... Aren’t you afraid of being caught?" A watery silhouette in the shape of a young girl rose from the clear surface of the lake.

Made entirely of water, her features were impossible to make out, but her voice was sweet and pleasant to the ear.

"What is there to be afraid of? You know as well as I do that this is the Forbidden Land. Who would dare trespass? Since they don’t dare, no one will know I was here," the woman said nonchalantly.

"The Saintess will know," the watery silhouette said.

"Then I have even less to fear. If she dares tattle on me, I’ll just string her up and give her a good thrashing," the woman said with a hearty laugh.

"Jiu Xi is destined to be the Saintess, and no one can stop it! HAHAHA, HAHAHA! You’re all doomed! Jiu Xi is about to become the Saintess, and you will all be doomed! HAHAHA!" A black, watery silhouette suddenly burst from the gloomy depths, its laughter tinged with madness. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

The woman glanced at the black silhouette, then turned back to the clear one. "Don’t you think there’s something wrong with her? Always screaming nonsense for no reason."

The clear silhouette said, "Speaking as pure malice, I think she’s just an idiot."

The woman splashed the water with her hand. "That just proves you were a silly girl in your past life, too."

The clear silhouette replied, "The ’me’ right now is one of pure goodness. If my original, conscious self were here, I would’ve dragged you into the water long ago."

"Haha," the woman laughed. "And that’s exactly why I dare to play around here. You can’t do a thing to me. Good people are just so easy to bully."

Just then, the clear silhouette asked, "Are you here to say goodbye?"

The woman’s laughter died down. She then said, "I have a faint feeling my end is near. I think I’m going to die, and Yue’er might die as well. It’s such a hateful feeling."

"Will Jiu Xi become the Saintess because of this?"

"If we both die, all the Candidacy Saintesses will be forcibly brought back, and a new Saintess will inevitably be chosen. It should have been Xiaojiu last time, but I was able to interfere once. I won’t be able to interfere a second time."

"Because I’ll already be dead."

After a long silence, the clear silhouette said, "Jiu Xi is, indeed, the most suitable person to become the Saintess since the founding of the Holy Land."

The woman fell back onto the shore, kicking her feet hard against the water’s surface. In a slightly mischievous tone, she said, "But the Holy Land doesn’t need the *most suitable* Saintess. It will be the end of Xiaojiu, and it will be the end of you, too."

"Jiu Xi is destined to become the Saintess! You can’t stop it! You’ll all be finished! After Jiu Xi, the Holy Land will have no Saintess ever again! HAHAHA!" the black silhouette cried out once more.

The woman said helplessly, "Do you have any way to make this idiot shut up? The sight of her is infuriating."

"She is me, and I am her. Although the primary consciousness and intellect reside with me, we were ultimately separated and can no longer connect," the clear silhouette explained.

The woman sighed. "If Xiaojiu really does become the Saintess, what will the final outcome be?"

"I do not know the other consequences, but one thing is certain: after Jiu Xi, there will be no more Saintesses."

The woman was puzzled. "How am I supposed to interpret that?"

"You were once a Saintess yourself. I believe you should know."

"I don’t believe it. If that’s the case, one of you two will disappear, won’t you? Or maybe you’ll both disappear. Besides, Xiaojiu has a husband. What’s supposed to happen to them?

AAAAH! I refuse to accept this! I already changed her fate once, why can’t I change it a second time?

And what about my Yue’er?"

"Jiu Xi is destined to be the Saintess. All obstacles will vanish. HAHAHA!" It was the black silhouette’s voice again.

The woman completely ignored the rambling creature. If it weren’t impossible to kill it, she might have already made her move.

"No one knows the true outcome. Not unless *he* returns. But ever since he sealed me here... he has never come back."

"He... has fallen."

As these words were spoken, a faint sadness touched not only the clear silhouette but the black one as well. The black silhouette’s madness subsided, and it silently vanished beneath the water’s surface.

The woman sighed as well. She rose to her feet and stood by the lakeshore. "If... if Xiaojiu really does become the Saintess, please help me take good care of her. She might be the one who suffers the most."

’Her master has fallen, her senior sister is gone, she may never see her husband again, and in the end, she might not even be herself anymore.’

’Will the final Saintess of the Holy Land be the most glorious, or the most tragic?’

’No one knew.’

The woman sighed. ’If she could trade her own life for those of her two disciples, she would do so in a heartbeat.’

"I am the embodiment of pure goodness. I will treat anyone who appears here with kindness. You need not worry," said the clear silhouette.

The woman smiled. "Well then, I’m off."

The woman turned and walked away. The clear silhouette watched her go, murmuring to itself, "He left just like that all those years ago... and he never came back. He never came back."

Then, the clear silhouette called out, "Wait!"

The woman turned in surprise. "What is it?"

"Next time... next time you come, if you wash your feet here again... my original self won’t want to pull you in either. So, you can come back."

The woman waved and laughed. "Just don’t go reporting me to our little Saintess then, you hear?"
