Chapter 84: Chapter 79: Doomed

Barron had no idea what was happening. Before he could even finish admiring the God-tier players who had just joined the guild, he was pulled into Master Rory’s party.

The party leader was the guild leader, Young Lord Shawn, and the members were all the newly joined God-tier players.

Guild Channel—

[Young Lord Shawn] Let me reiterate the guild rules. No member is allowed to stir up trouble for no reason. Anyone who violates this will be kicked from the guild. I don’t care if you’re an old member or a new one!

[Madam Whitlock] 1

[Master Rory] 1

No. 1 [Mr. Thorne] 1

No. 7 [BuddhaSays] 1

...

The top players all followed suit, keeping the formation perfectly identical.

The other guild members quickly joined in, creating a spectacular sight.

Some quick-fingered players took a screenshot and posted it on the World Channel to show off, once again attracting the attention and heated discussion of the entire server.

No. 9 [Waiting] Whoa! So many of my bros went over? Count me in!

No. 5 [EyeoftheWind] Not cool, guys! How could you go without telling me?

No. 12 [Rippling Dreams] Mr. Ford, are you really planning to just hand over your guild leader position?

No. 5 [EyeoftheWind] ...I’ll just make an alt.

...

The experts who had left earlier were kicking themselves after seeing the screenshot on the World Channel.

They swallowed their pride and asked the veteran members they had just rejected about the guild’s situation.

But no one replied. Everyone was in the arena watching Master Rory demolish Barron.

As Master Rory’s hand-picked sparring partner, he had just been combo’d to a KO for the fifth time. With tears in his eyes, he typed into a text bubble.

[Barron] Boss, Lord Rory, please spare me! (Crying)

In front of his computer, Beta Morgan couldn’t stop laughing. His fingers clattered across the keyboard as he comforted his new underling.

[Madam Whitlock] You should be glad she’s only crushing you in a game!

[Barron] (Terrified) !!! What do you mean? Could Lord Rory be...

[Madam Whitlock] Be what? (Questioning) I didn’t say anything. (Smiling)

[Barron] ...

Barron chose to withdraw, and Master Rory’s opponent immediately switched to the number-one ranked individual player, Mr. Thorne.

Mr. Thorne activated the arena’s Equalization Mode, setting his Level to match Aurora Sinclair’s. He also unequipped all his gear, wanting a fair duel.

Outside the game, Tanner Sinclair rubbed his hands together, eager to go. "Little niece, are you ready?"

Beside him, Aurora Sinclair nodded while stretching her wrists and fingers.

Zeke Quincy reminded her, "Aurora, your uncle is number one in the server’s individual arena rankings. You’d better be careful!"

Aurora Sinclair nodded again, her expression growing much more serious.

The duel began.

Mr. Thorne took the initiative, rushing toward Master Rory with his sword and rapidly closing the distance. He drew his blade, aiming it straight at Master Rory’s chest.

But Master Rory nimbly hopped back, parrying with both fists before throwing a quick Left Hook that landed squarely on Mr. Thorne, knocking off a tenth of his health.

Tanner Sinclair raised an eyebrow, a lollipop dangling from his mouth. "Not bad, little niece! I’m getting serious now."

A duel between experts was like a battle between gods; the spectators couldn’t tear their eyes away.

At first, the two seemed evenly matched, trading blows back and forth. But halfway through, Master Rory’s attacks suddenly quickened, instantly disrupting Mr. Thorne’s rhythm.

Finally, Master Rory landed a Flame Fist, knocking Mr. Thorne airborne.

Tanner Sinclair yelled, "I’m done for!"

He pushed his mouse and keyboard away, giving up all resistance.

For the next three minutes, Mr. Thorne was juggled relentlessly, never touching the ground. All of his health was depleted, and the screen turned gray. The massive word "DEFEAT" filled the center.

"Little niece, your hand speed is incredible!"

Zeke Quincy calmly replied, "That’s not even her at her peak. When we fought The Flame Queen, her hand speed was even faster than this."

Aurora Sinclair glanced at her fingers and said seriously, "This feels more comfortable."

Zeke Quincy: ...

’Fine, you’re the master!’

The next match was against Madam Whitlock. After just thirty seconds, Aurora Sinclair stopped fighting and put some distance between them.

Two words appeared above Master Rory’s head: Mr. Beta?

Beta Morgan was startled and guiltily typed back, "It’s me, he’s busy."

Seeing this, Zeke Quincy asked in surprise, "Isn’t Madam Whitlock a woman?"

Aurora Sinclair shook her head. "He’s a man."

At that moment, Tanner Sinclair suddenly recalled the man named White who had visited the Sinclair Family before. His expression tightened, and he gave Aurora Sinclair a complicated look.

Zeke Quincy continued to ask, "Then who is he?"

"A friend."

"Then..."

"Little niece, hurry up and finish the fight. Let your uncle try out this character’s Skills when you’re done," Tanner Sinclair said, quickly cutting off Zeke Quincy’s questioning.

Zeke Quincy looked back and forth between Tanner Sinclair and Aurora Sinclair for a long moment. He couldn’t shake the feeling that the two of them were hiding a secret from him.

On the other side, Lorraine Morrison had assumed that after she quit the guild, Young Lord Shawn would compromise and beg her to return. To her surprise, she waited for a long time but never received a message from him.

Instead, she saw the screenshot on the World Channel, and her face instantly turned ashen with rage, her expression as foul as if she had eaten shit.

She found the message Mr. Newman had sent her five minutes earlier and, pursing her lips, began to type resentfully on her keyboard.

[Lorraine] I’m not angry, just disheartened. Is our friendship of all these years worth less than some woman you’ve only known for a few days?

[Lorraine] It’s not that I was dead set on quitting the guild; I just felt wronged. I didn’t expect them to quit with me.

She had expected Mr. Newman to reply quickly and have Sandstorm invite her back into the guild. Instead, she ended up waiting for two hours.

「Two hours later—」

[Mr. Newman] Sorry, sorry, I just saw this. I was in the arena watching a battle between gods. It was totally badass! As expected of the God-tier players, they’re just unbelievably good.

Lorraine Morrison gritted her teeth, flicked the ash from the cigarette between her fingers, and quickly replied, [It’s fine, I was watching a show.]

[Mr. Newman] Lorraine, I spoke to Sandstorm. He said you probably can’t come back right now. The guild is full. He’ll invite you back when the guild levels up and expands its member cap.

Lorraine Morrison’s expression turned even uglier. She quickly clicked on the Apex Dominion Guild page, and sure enough, the member roster was full.

A surge of resentment welled up in her chest, and she slammed her mouse down hard.

[Mr. Newman] Lorraine, it’s a shame you weren’t here. Master Rory and Madam Whitlock just utterly humiliated several of the God-tier players. I’ve never seen such an awesome arena match.

[Mr. Newman] Gotta go, they’re starting another round.

Lorraine Morrison slammed her laptop shut. SLAM—

「The Morgan Residence.」

Beta Morgan glanced up furtively at Alvin Morgan, who was now sitting at the computer. He quickly sent a text to Aurora Sinclair.

[Beta: The boss is here.]

[Aurora: K.]

[Beta: From the looks of it, he’s not in a great mood. Remind your cousin and uncle not to face off against him during the PK.]

[Aurora: ?]

[Beta: You’ll see in a minute.]

They were about to start a team battle.

Master Rory and Madam Whitlock, leading a team of newcomers, were facing off against the team of God-tier players led by Mr. Thorne.

Team battles transported players to an unknown map. The map environment was randomly assigned, and to create a strong sense of immersion, the scenery was modeled after the real world.

Leaves rustled in the wind, water reflected figures, and buildings could be used for cover...

Players could use any part of the environment to set traps and ambush their opponents. This added a strategic element to the fights, increasing both the difficulty and the uncertainty.

After taking over from Beta Morgan, Alvin Morgan raised an eyebrow slightly and gave him a cool glance. "Get me my headset."

Beta Morgan immediately went to find the headset.

「Three minutes later」, Aurora Sinclair suddenly heard Alvin Morgan’s rich, magnetic voice come through her speakers. "How did the college entrance exams go?"

The sudden voice startled the two men beside her.

Tanner Sinclair was fine, but Zeke Quincy’s eyes went wide. He pulled his chair over and leaned in to look at Aurora Sinclair’s screen.

Alvin Morgan had no idea his voice was being broadcast to the two Sinclair men.

He continued, "When are you moving? Need any help?"

Zeke Quincy finally spoke, a look of utter confusion on his face. "Aurora, who is that?"
