Chapter 190: Chapter 184: Here Comes the Scheming Girl

Seeing that Aurora seemed to have frozen, Benjamin Morgan explained nervously, "Miss Guthrie is a goddaughter our madam acknowledged a while ago. So, she’s technically the master’s sister."

Joyce Guthrie glanced at him, her smile sweet. She walked up, grabbed Aurora Sinclair’s arm, and said in a playfully demanding tone, "Mr. C, why are you so nervous? Could it be that Aurora is Morgan’s girlfriend?"

Benjamin Morgan looked at Aurora Sinclair awkwardly, coughed twice, and opened the lid of the food container on the table for her.

"That smells amazing! I didn’t eat lunch. Can I have a little?" Joyce Guthrie said with a smile, looking at Aurora Sinclair.

Aurora Sinclair nodded and pushed a food container toward her.

Benjamin Morgan opened his mouth to speak, then stopped himself, his heart leaping into his throat.

’This young lady is very calculating. Aurora is probably going to get taken advantage of this time.’

Joyce Guthrie didn’t eat much meat to maintain her figure, so when she saw Aurora Sinclair ungracefully gnawing on a chicken leg, she was taken aback.

Across from them, Benjamin Morgan even opened Alvin Morgan’s food container and placed the chicken leg from inside into her bowl.

"Aurora, do you really love chicken legs?"

Aurora Sinclair nodded.

"You stay in such good shape, then."

Aurora Sinclair swallowed the meat in her mouth and replied with two words: "Martial arts."

Joyce Guthrie looked surprised. "You practice martial arts? I never would have guessed..."

Aurora Sinclair nodded.

Benjamin Morgan suddenly interjected, "Aurora is a member of The Martial Alliance."p>Joyce Guthrie stiffened for a moment, then smiled and replied, "How impressive."

Aurora Sinclair gave a shy nod.

After eating, Aurora Sinclair did her homework in the office as usual.

Even though it was university, the homework load was no lighter than in high school. Subjects in her physics and engineering major, like advanced mathematics and university-level physics, assigned homework almost every class.

Joyce Guthrie asked curiously, "Aurora, aren’t you going back to your dorm to rest?"

Benjamin Morgan said, "Aurora doesn’t live on campus."

"Oh, I see! Aurora, I have a dorm. If you want to rest, you can come over anytime." Joyce Guthrie pulled a key from her pocket.

Benjamin Morgan’s heart tightened. He immediately refused, "Miss Guthrie, that won’t be necessary. There’s a bed in the master’s office. Aurora usually rests there."

Aurora Sinclair thought for a moment and nodded.

The smile in Joyce Guthrie’s eyes faded a little. "Doesn’t Morgan forbid girls from entering his office?"

"This is different," Benjamin Morgan replied meaningfully as he opened a carton of milk for Aurora Sinclair.

Alvin Morgan didn’t return to the office all afternoon.

Aurora Sinclair thought he was busy, but when she got to the classroom, she found Alvin Morgan already standing at the lectern.

The front-row seats were already filled with female students from the physics major.

She had no choice but to head toward the back.

Alvin Morgan pursed his lips, glanced at the girls in the front row who had taken Aurora Sinclair’s usual seat, and announced, "All girls in the front row, I’m spot-checking your homework."

Everyone’s expression changed. They tremblingly took out their textbooks. Alvin Morgan checked their homework one by one. Some hadn’t even had time to do it, and he directly gave them a zero for their entire homework grade.

Everyone was on the verge of tears.

During the first period, the front row became a nightmare. Everyone was called on one by one to answer questions, and points were deducted if they couldn’t answer.

By the end of the period, the girls were physically and mentally exhausted. During the short break between periods, they grabbed their bags and fled to the back rows as if their lives depended on it.

Seeing this, the boys in the second row got scared and also quickly packed their bags and ran to the back.

"Class rep, you’ve gotta go sit in the front." A quick-witted guy immediately started gathering Aurora Sinclair’s books and pencil case for her.

"Huh?"

"Don’t ’huh’ me, we desperately need you to put out the fire..."

Under everyone’s expectant gazes, Aurora Sinclair sat back down in the front row. But with no one sitting next to her, she looked conspicuously isolated.

The second period finally returned to normal. Alvin Morgan didn’t call on anyone or spot-check homework.

Everyone relaxed.

After class, Joyce Guthrie came running over again.

She had waited in Chester Greene’s office for a long time. It wasn’t until he returned that she learned Alvin Morgan had already gone to class.

Her expression changed slightly, and she ran over, carrying her things.

But at the doorway, she saw Aurora Sinclair packing her things in the front row.

She pursed her lips, then put on a smile and walked in. "Morgan, this is a gift for my godmother."

Alvin Morgan turned his head and gave her an indifferent glance, his brows furrowing slightly as if trying to remember who she was.

Joyce Guthrie reminded him sweetly, "Morgan, I was only gone for a year. You haven’t forgotten me, have you? It’s me, Joyce..."

’Only then did Alvin Morgan recall her identity. She was one of the goddaughters his "Empress Dowager" had taken in out of boredom. He’d heard there were several of them, from families both large and small, all for a very obvious purpose.’

Hearing her form of address, the other students were surprised and started guessing at her identity.

Joyce Guthrie chatted and joked with him, occasionally including Aurora Sinclair in the conversation.

"Aurora, do you have another class soon?"

Aurora Sinclair shook her head.

"Perfect! You should join our club! Come on, I’ll take you to The Calligraphy Society." As she spoke, she linked arms with Aurora Sinclair, acting like they were the best of friends.

Ever since she started using Ronan Warner’s new medicine, Aurora Sinclair had mostly stopped using weighted bags, wearing only light armor for protection.

"Morgan, Aurora and I are leaving now. Don’t forget to take the gift for my godmother," Joyce Guthrie said with a smile, looking back to remind him.

The smile in her eyes dazzled the surrounding boys.

’So beautiful!’

Alvin Morgan gave a slight nod and picked up the box.

Seeing this, the smile on Joyce Guthrie’s face deepened.

The two arrived at a classroom in the Academy of Arts, where Joyce Guthrie cleared her throat softly to get the attention of the people inside.

"Guthrie?"

"Oh my god! Guthrie is really back!"

The girls in the room happily shot to their feet and ran over to hug her.

"Wait, put down your calligraphy brushes..." Joyce Guthrie said with a smile, holding out a hand.

The girls immediately and obediently put their brushes away properly.

Joyce Guthrie took out a dozen or so small, long boxes from her bag and handed one to each person. "Gifts from my trip back."

"Whoa, it’s a necklace from The Phantom Trove’s new Snow Lotus collection."

"Thank you, Guthrie. I love it..."

"Quick, help me put it on."

"This is so expensive! Guthrie is so good to us!"

Aurora Sinclair looked at one of the necklaces, and it suddenly seemed familiar.

’Weren’t those the flowers I painted with my master’s wife at the foot of the Kaelan Mountains last year?’

"Aurora, I’m sorry. I only brought enough for the current club members. Can I give you one tomorrow?" Joyce Guthrie said, her eyes full of apology.

Aurora Sinclair shook her head.

Next, Joyce Guthrie introduced Aurora Sinclair to everyone. "This is Aurora Sinclair from the archaeology department. From now on, she’s our newest member. Let’s give her a warm welcome."

The moment the girls heard her name, their expressions turned strange.

Stella Sinclair had been the vice president of The Calligraphy Society. Rumor had it that she was forced to drop out after her reputation was ruined for plagiarizing her younger sister’s paintings—and Aurora Sinclair happened to be that very sister.

’A girl who would even turn on her own sister must be incredibly cunning. We have to be on guard against her.’ 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

After introducing Aurora Sinclair to the club members, Joyce Guthrie invited everyone out to eat to welcome the new member.

Naturally, no one would refuse Joyce Guthrie.

The lively group went to Fortune’s Hearth, a local restaurant near Arcadian University, and even got a large private room.

"Guthrie, will Mr. Guthrie be coming?" a girl asked, blushing.

The boys and girls next to her started teasing, and Joyce Guthrie smiled and nodded. "He’ll be here in a bit."

"Really?"

All the girls got excited and went to the restroom together as a group.

When they returned, Aurora Sinclair noticed their faces were even fairer and they had put on lipstick.

Joyce Guthrie glanced at Aurora Sinclair with a smile. "Aurora, you don’t wear makeup?"

Aurora Sinclair shook her head.

"Your skin is amazing. It’s so smooth, you don’t even have visible pores." As she spoke, Joyce Guthrie reached out and touched her face.

Everyone’s gazes turned toward her. The tips of Aurora Sinclair’s ears turned a little red.

Some of the girls started complaining in a private group chat.

Sisters, watch out! The scheming green tea bitch is here. Guthrie just got back and doesn’t know what she’s like. We all need to protect Guthrie.

That’s right. Even Eve Lowell lost out to her. It just shows how cunning she is.

And there were those rumors about her and Mr. Guthrie before. We can’t let her harm our president...

Sisters, just follow my lead in a bit...
