Chapter 180: Chapter 174: Ford Was Also the Pick of the Bunch in the Morgan Family

The appearance of the Windwalker instantly made headlines on every major platform. Players were all asking one question: would Summoner White return?

Reporters had already swarmed the area outside the venue, waiting to interview DAF after the match.

Inside the arena, the horn to start the match officially sounded.

The regular season was divided into 1v1 individual matches and 5v5 team matches.

In the individual matches, players competed according to a pre-determined lineup. The winner of each round earned one point, for a total of five points available.

The team match was a 5v5 with one substitute. Victory was achieved by eliminating all six members of the opposing team, earning the winning team five points.

A regular season match was worth a total of ten points. In Veridia, there were twenty professional teams competing in the league.

Each team would face every other team during the regular season in a series of home and away matches. After all matches were completed, the teams were ranked by their total points. The top twelve teams would advance to the playoffs to compete for the national championship.

These twenty teams were also subject to a relegation system. Every year, the two teams with the lowest point totals had to compete against amateur "grassroots" teams for a spot in the professional league before the regular season began. Only by winning could they remain in the league.

However, generally speaking, once a team reached a certain size and secured sponsors, it was rare for them to be defeated by a grassroots team composed of amateur players. As a result, the league was mostly filled with the same familiar faces each year.

For the first individual match, West Peak sent out their captain, Todd Warren, on his Berserker, Titus. This was no surprise, as it was their standard opening strategy.

Todd Warren had a reputation as a 1v1 specialist. Back when he was on Team PL, he rarely lost an individual match, boasting a league win rate of over 98%. He was currently ranked third in individual power.

The number one spot was held by the former God: White.

Second was the captain of Team PL, Julian Lawson.

DAF’s first player to take the stage was the Mage, Scrappy’s Tail.

This was inevitably a bit of a disappointment for the fans who had been eagerly awaiting Master Rory and the Windwalker.

They had been hoping for a clash of titans. While Scrappy’s Tail was strong, fans were more excited to see a high-profile player completely dominate West Peak’s star captain.

When the West Peak fans saw that DAF wasn’t opening with Master Rory or the Windwalker, they let out a wave of loud boos.

Some even shouted, "Scared, are you?"

"Some ’ancient god.’ If you’re that old, you should just go home and take care of your kids—"

These words thoroughly enraged the DAF fans, and a fight nearly broke out between them and the West Peak supporters.

On-site security immediately intervened, holding the two sides back. Still, two people continued to brawl and were ultimately escorted away.

Seeing that people had been removed, the fans gradually quieted down.

The first match went, unsurprisingly, to the captain of West Peak. Screams from the West Peak fans erupted throughout the venue.

But Julian Lawson, the captain of Team PL, noted grimly, "Todd Warren’s tempo was thrown off by Scrappy’s Tail."

Felix Lowe smiled. "Scrappy’s Tail is famous for her APM. Sending her out first... the Windwalker really is the tactical master White trained him to be."

The second match pitted the rookie Summoner, Void, against DAF’s former Summoner, Jonas Lawson.

It was a showdown between DAF’s new and former Summoners. Void still lacked competitive experience, and his nerves got the better of him. Jonas Lawson took him out in a single combo. This pushed the morale of the West Peak fans to its zenith, and they all began to chant the two words, "West Peak."

The entire arena was filled with their chanting. Jean Quincy and Luna Jennings couldn’t take it anymore. They leaped to their feet and yelled "DAF!" but their voices were quickly drowned out by the opposing crowd.

In the third match, the Poison Master, Joanna, took the stage, finally giving DAF a glimmer of hope for victory.

Joanna faced an Archer from West Peak. One was a support class, the other ranged DPS. In a class-to-class comparison, the Poison Master was weaker in a 1v1. But Joanna Monroe was a seasoned veteran. She exploited the features of the swamp map, trapping the Archer and letting the environment wear him down to critical health until he lost the match.

The West Peak fans in the crowd cursed Joanna, calling her a "venomous bitch" who only knew how to play dirty. But the DAF fans weren’t about to be outdone and roared back, and the two sides once again erupted into a shouting match.

The noise in the arena only subsided when the Windwalker took the stage for the fourth match.

Tears of excitement welled up in the DAF fans’ eyes as they scrambled to pull out their phones and start taking pictures and recording video.

Suddenly, the background music that used to play for White’s entrances began to fill the arena. With tears in his eyes, the commentator announced, "Players, this is the song that played when the god himself, White, entered the fray. He was the king of Veridia! He was the one who led us beyond our borders and onto the international stage..."

Whether the organizers were intentionally trying to stir up emotions or not, a small screen next to the main one began to play a short clip from years ago of White competing with the Windwalker by his side.

The spectacular skills and flashy footwork ignited the crowd.

It had to be said, this official production had boosted the DAF fans’ morale to its absolute peak.

Although the West Peak fans were scornful, even they had to admit that without White, Veridia’s esports scene would never have become as prosperous as it was today.

All eyes, filled with hope, were fixed on the screen.

Onscreen, the Windwalker was as low-key and composed as ever.

After the duel officially began, he immediately seized the high ground and concealed himself, waiting for his "prey" to walk right into his trap.

A fully drawn, cloud-piercing arrow signaled the start of the battle, instantly transporting the old fans back in time.

"Oh my god! It’s really the Windwalker! He’s really back!"

"I thought it was just the account that came back, not that it was really him..."

"Ah... I’m crying!"

Excited shouts once again filled the arena. The older fans had been thrilled by the Windwalker’s appearance, but they still harbored doubts, fearing it was just a smokescreen from DAF. They never imagined it was actually him.

The greatest support to the greatest king.

Outside the arena, Beta Morgan watched the live broadcast, cracking sunflower seeds as he complained, "Ford is still as flashy as ever. What’s the point of that Cloud-Piercing Arrow? He should’ve just used a Heart-Piercing Volley and ended it quickly."

Leigh Miles didn’t know much about the game and asked curiously, "Ford looks very composed, though?"

Beta Morgan rolled his eyes, spat out a seed shell, and gave her a look that said she was far too naive. "Leigh, never be fooled by a man’s appearance. Back in the day, Ford was the pretty boy of the Morgan Family, the flashiest of us all for years."

"No way!" Leigh Miles imagined Flynn Morgan’s serious face paired with one of Arthur Lockwood’s floral shirts and couldn’t help but shudder.

"Do you know why, out of all of us, the boss only sent him to the old man’s side? It’s because he’s too wild and arrogant. The boss wanted to temper his personality..."

Dean Morgan glanced at Beta Morgan, who was still cracking seeds, then hugged Titus Miles and shifted away from him.

’When it comes to arrogance, who could possibly beat him? The boss still doesn’t dare let Beta go on a mission by himself...’

Meanwhile, back in the match, the Windwalker’s unpredictable archery allowed him to slowly kite the melee giant to death from a distance.

It was an incredibly satisfying victory!

The DAF fans had nearly shouted themselves hoarse.

The commentator excitedly shouted five words: "Years later, he’s still got it!"

The line resonated with all the veteran players in the audience.

For the final match, DAF’s grand finale was the Boxer, Master Rory. Her appearance set the entire arena ablaze as the two words "Lord Rory" were chanted loud enough to shake the heavens.

On the livestream, the bullet comments were almost completely flooded with the two words "Lord Rory."

This proved that her title as Veridia’s number one female boxer wasn’t just for show; she had truly earned the recognition of the entire player base.

Felix Lowe of Team PL turned and stressed to his teammates, "Watch this match closely. Analyze her fighting style and attack patterns. She’s going to be your biggest rival from now on."

Meanwhile, in the regular audience section.

A middle-aged man smiled at the young man in a black hoodie beside him. "Lennox, that’s the person who pioneered the Boxer class in Veridia. This is a good chance to see her in action. You two might even run into each other at an international tournament..."

Elias Lennox smiled and nodded. His features were sharply defined, with deep-set eyes and a high-bridged nose. His light blue eyes held an unreadable expression.

He wasn’t looking at the main screen, but at the glass booth on the stage. His handsome lips curved into a slight smile.

’I finally get to see you.’

’Sunstone’s junior sister...’
