My Wife is a Hidden Big Shot-Chapter 159 - 153: A Vixen for an Illegitimate Son
Ethan Lowell frowned, his expression darkening. "What do you want now?"
"Your talent in the martial arts can’t compare to Eve’s, but you’ve gotten lucky. Aurora Sinclair is your classmate, giving you a prime opportunity since you already know her. As long as you marry her, I will officially welcome your mother into the Lowell Family."
Hearing the man’s carrot-and-stick approach, a dark glint flashed in Ethan Lowell’s eyes. "Why her? Are we no longer choosing from the women in the Lowell Family’s branch lines?"
But Hugo Lowell’s tone was casual. "How could their talent possibly compare to Aurora Sinclair’s? And aren’t you quite fond of her at school? This is perfect..."
Before he could finish, Ethan Lowell hung up and gripped his phone tightly.
’He did like Aurora Sinclair, but it was just admiration and sympathy, not romantic love.’
’He had sworn the day he entered the Lowell Family that he would never fall in love with anyone in his life.’
Although the Lowell Family was one of Kingsford’s Seven Great Families, at their core, they were extremely traditional.
To perpetuate their Ancient Martial Inheritance, the Lowell Family was obsessed with bloodlines. The process of choosing a spouse was as strict as an ancient imperial court selecting consorts, all for the purpose of birthing descendants with supreme talent for the martial arts.
His father had detested this system, which was why he had run away and fallen in love with Ethan’s biological mother. But even after Ethan was born, they still couldn’t escape the Lowell Family’s nearly perverse traditions.
Not long ago, his father had sued for divorce, choosing to leave the marriage with nothing. He accepted being disowned by the Lowell Family as the price for being with Ethan’s mother. The judgment had since become effective, and his father and mother had immediately registered their marriage.
However, Hugo Lowell had never acknowledged the union. For him to suddenly relent now showed just how tempted he was by Aurora Sinclair’s martial arts talent.

On the other end, seeing that the grandson he’d always disliked had the audacity to hang up on him, Hugo Lowell immediately dialed his granddaughter, Eve Lowell.
His tone with Eve was much gentler than it had been with Ethan. "Eve, Grandpa has something to ask you."
"Grandpa, I’m in the middle of a lecture! Can we talk later...?" Eve Lowell glanced at Alvin Morgan on the lecture stage and whispered impatiently.
"This won’t take long. Do you know the Second Miss of the Sinclair Family, Aurora Sinclair?"
She was just about to hang up when she heard his question. She froze, then asked quietly, "I know of her. Why?"
"I want you to get closer to her at school. Try to become her friend."
"Why should I?"
Eve Lowell’s expression darkened, and her voice rose, interrupting Alvin Morgan’s lecture.
Alvin Morgan glanced back at her and said coolly, "Get out."
Embarrassed, Eve Lowell hung up her phone, stood, and apologized to Alvin Morgan. "I’m sorry, Mr. Morgan, I..."
"Get out—"
Eve Lowell looked stunned, but Alvin Morgan was merciless.
Under the watchful eyes of everyone in the room, she could only lower her head, clutch her bag, and shuffle dejectedly toward the exit.
The moment she stepped out of the lecture hall, Eve Lowell’s anger flared. Her face a hard mask, she called Hugo Lowell back. "Grandpa, what did you do?! Young Lord Morgan just kicked me out of his class..."
Hearing her furious voice, Hugo Lowell replied helplessly, "Eve, don’t be angry. How about this? Grandpa will invite him to be a guest at our home. Would that be okay? Just calm down..."
Eve had grown up by his side, and he spoiled her to the bone. In the entire Lowell Family, she was the only one who dared to yell at him like that.
"You said it, so you can’t take it back. I want to see him this Saturday."
"Alright, I promise. Now, will you let me talk?"
The corners of Eve’s lips turned up, a blush creeping onto her cheeks. "Go ahead."
"I want your brother to marry Aurora Sinclair..."
"What? No! I hate her! Does she really think she’s worthy of marrying into the Lowell Family?"
Hugo Lowell hadn’t expected such a reaction. He paused, but on the other end of the line, Eve had already started calling Aurora a green-tea bitch and a vixen.
Hugo Lowell pinched the bridge of his nose, a headache forming. He cut her off, his tone firm. "Eve, this matter is non-negotiable. Her talent for the martial arts is extraordinary. Someone from the Lowell Family *must* marry her."
"Why? There are plenty of other talented people. Why does it have to be her?" Eve was incredibly unhappy, but when her grandfather’s tone became this forceful, she didn’t dare defy him.
"Her talent is the kind you see once in a generation; we absolutely cannot let her slip away. Since you’re at Arcadian University, use your position to play matchmaker for her and your brother."
"But..."
"Once she’s with your brother, the Young Master of the Morgan Family will be out of the picture." A sharp glint flashed in Hugo Lowell’s eyes. ’Every one of the Seven Great Families covets the people from Sunstone. Now that an opportunity has finally presented itself, we can’t possibly miss it.’
’He just couldn’t tell Eve this directly. After all, that person from Sunstone was Veridia’s greatest trump card; their identity could not be revealed lightly.’
As soon as Eve heard this, she thought it made perfect sense and happily accepted the task.
’A vixen and a bastard. A match made in heaven.’
’We’ll see how she tries to compete with me for Young Lord Morgan now.’

Meanwhile, Tanner Sinclair asked Aurora curiously, "So, little niece, about those two old men today—the president and vice-president of the Alliance—which faction are you planning on joining?"
But Aurora simply said, "I’m not joining."
"Not joining?" Tanner Sinclair was floored. "If you don’t join, you’ll offend both sides! You’ll go from being a martial arts prodigy to an arrogant brat who doesn’t know what’s good for her. Who in the Alliance will ever help you advance after this?"
Aurora nodded. "My master gave me clear instructions not to join any faction."
"Aurora, that won’t fly. Those two men can make the entire Alliance tremble just by stomping their feet. Rejecting both of them is a huge mistake."
"They won’t. They wouldn’t dare..."
’What? They wouldn’t dare?’
Seeing his niece’s confidence, Tanner Sinclair felt like a herd of ten thousand alpacas was stampeding through his mind. ’This is no time to be saying things like that!’
Tanner, who usually treated life like a game, pulled the car over to the side of the road. He spoke to Aurora with utter seriousness. "Aurora, I would never steer you wrong. The adult world is incredibly complex. If you don’t pick a side, you’ll likely become a living target for them and end up falling."
Aurora shook her head. "That won’t happen."
"Aurora, this world is full of martial arts prodigies, you’re not the only one. There have been others like you who refused to be recruited, but they all ended up having... ’accidents’ while they were still developing."
"Why?"
"The principle is simple: ’Those who cannot be used by us must be eliminated.’ They won’t stand by and let a potential threat grow into a real one."
"But, my master..."
"Aurora, heaven is high and the emperor is far away. Some rules can be bent."
When they returned home, Tanner Sinclair told Master Sinclair about what had happened at the Martial Alliance, only to get an earful for it.
But when Tanner went on to explain the rivalry between the two factions within the Alliance, Master Sinclair grew worried that Master Aerion’s status alone wouldn’t be enough to protect his granddaughter.
He immediately asked her, "Aurora, tell me, is your master, Master Aerion, part of the Martial Alliance?"
Aurora thought for a moment, then nodded.
"Does he hold a position there?"
"I don’t know."
Master Sinclair felt a headache coming on. He was starting to regret letting Tanner take her to the Martial Alliance in the first place.
Seeing how worried both her grandfather and her uncle were, Aurora thought for a moment before offering a word of comfort: "They can’t beat me!"
The two men: ...
"Aurora, that’s the kind of thing you can only say at home. Don’t you ever say that outside, you hear?"
Aurora’s gaze flickered, and she pressed her lips together.

「The next day.」
Alvin Morgan paid a visit. After speaking with Master Sinclair in the study for a while, he left with Aurora.
"Morgan, where are we going?"
"To get your driver’s license."
"Huh?" Aurora looked at him in confusion.
A smile danced in Alvin Morgan’s eyes as his lips curved upward. "Want to learn how to fly a plane?"
Aurora’s eyes lit up, and she nodded eagerly.
"Then let’s get your driver’s license first."
