Chapter 170: Eat

Despite her pitiful state, Bianca murmured with conviction.

"I refuse. We’re butchering this thing together."

Elian wanted to tell her to stop; that she needed to rest. But he couldn’t. Unlike a normal couple, Elian and Bianca weren’t merely lovebirds who whispered sweet nothings to each other. They were Anchor and Tyrant.

He was her beast, and she was his leash.

His ego and arrogance, which rose with his success, needed her to pull him back down.

As a Weapon without care for his own safety, she tethered him back to reality.

Without her help right now, he couldn’t have gained the time nor the focus to remake himself. It was only because she was with him that he could stand higher.

While many would call him weak for such a dependency on Bianca, nothing could be farther from the truth.

Yes, the Crucible knew what it was doing when it dispensed roles for its competitors. A Tyrant without an Anchor was nothing more than a beast. And an Anchor devoid of a Tyrant had no purpose to speak of.

Was that why God created them? Women? So that they could complete the parts we lacked?

Elian could do this without endangering Bianca. But it would cost him a lot more. Her insight and vision guarded him like a shield; it gave him immense comfort. Knowing that should the worst come to pass, he wouldn’t be alone.

In quiet surrender, he sighed before answering, "Then let’s go, my Anchor."

Without a moment’s hesitation, Bianca replied with radiant energy, "Yes, my Tyrant."

As Elian gazed at the face of his opponent for the first time, he felt something inside him stir. It was not anger or vengeance for Bianca, nor bloodlust from being manhandled in their earlier confrontation.

No, it was something much simpler.

A primal desire to show his worth and dominate.

I am better than you.

Despite the size and overwhelming power of his opponent, that single thought coursed through his entire being. All he wanted was to prove his superiority.

"Goodness, and here I thought you came here to save me," Bianca complained. She got off Elian and floated beside him. In her hands was a sports bottle that had a long straw. Bianca took sips from her bottle while glaring at Elian.

"Ah, I did. Are you alright, my love?" he said sheepishly.

Bianca sipped glowing water through the straw and gazed at Elian from head to toe. While Bianca could float, Elian normally couldn’t; he was too heavy. But now, he was levitating by using small boosters on his heels and lower back.

His helm, armlets, greaves, and boots all had large ridges filled with teeth. It looked absolutely the opposite of majestic; it looked like a misshapen monster. As if someone took a humanoid frame and tried to jam as much saws as they could possibly could.

And that was not even counting the long appendages that looked like wings on his back. It was reminiscent of the backpack of snakes Elian used prior to gaining Living Metal.

"I am fine. You seem to have created yet another form. One that hardly looks pleasant. But the material seems new; did you make it?"

"Yes. I did. It’s called Valestrian Steel."

Hearing the name, Bianca smiled and winked at her Tyrant, "Fufu, you really should stop naming everything after me. One would think I was the only thing in your mind." freewёbnoνel-com

"But, it’s true, though," Elian answered with a mischievous smile.

Bianca stored her sports bottle and frowned, "Come now, darling. I can hear your thoughts, and I am the farthest thing from your mind right now."

The Weapon looked away and scratched his chin. "Well, maybe not at this moment, but you know what I mean."

"Hmm, I will forgive you just this once, in exchange..."

"Yeah, I will remake all your gear with the new alloy. Only the best for my penguin."

Bianca’s face flushed as she nodded, "And a date. We will go on a date after this." Turning towards the gigantic face in front of them, she said in a loud voice, "Thank you for waiting, Depth Deeper than the Center. Have you healed completely?"

"HMPH! HUMANS ARE CERTAINLY INTERESTING! I KNOW YOU ARE NOTHING BUT ANIMALS WHO ARE IN HEAT ALL THE TIME, BUT SEEING IT FOR MYSELF IS QUITE IRRITATING! DO YOU INTEND TO MATE AFTER OUR BATTLE?"

"WHAT? OF COURSE NOT! ELIAN AND I AREN’T LIKE THAT!"

"OH, PLEASE SPARE ME FROM YOUR LIES, PSYCHOMANCER! HOW LONG DO YOU THINK I HAVE LIVED? EVEN IN THE FACE OF DEATH, BOTH OF YOU WISH TO COPULATE LIKE ANIMALS. HOW LECHEROUS."

"HUH? WAIT, IT ISN’T LIKE THAT!" Bianca screamed, "ELIAN, TELL HIM!"

"Eh? But I do, though?"

"Wha—"

"ENOUGH! I HUMORED YOU BOTH ENOUGH! NOW GRANT ME THE BATTLE I DESIRE!"

Along with his earth-shattering roar, ’Depth Deeper than the Center’ moved. His massive tree trunk arms swung towards the couple. Their immense force created vacuums as even the very air was ripped apart as they passed.

Armies of flowers and trees encroach on the enemy Tyrant’s body, all violently shooting out projectiles. Thousands of leaves spun in the air like a wave of verdant swords and raced towards Elian and Bianca.

Yet, despite the tide of death approaching, neither of them feared.

"How should we proceed, my Tyrant?"

"I’ll charge from the front and eat him. Please support me."

"Sigh, why do I even bother to ask? Then farewell for now, darling."

"Yeah, stay safe."

Bianca ignited her thrusters and retreated. Elian, on the other hand, looked forward and gave a single command.

"Spin."

Every saw on his body came alive. High-pitched whirling sounds resonated as saws of teeth began to run along Elian’s body. He had three on his head, one on each arm, and two on each leg. The saws on his limbs all reverberated as the teeth were forced to spin.

"Right, system. Save the move I’m about to make."

[Understood. Recording now.]

The ten appendages on Elian’s back lengthened. Like his limbs, they were all chainsaws made from Valestrian alloy; only they were connected to Elian by tentacles made from Dominator Variants.

Using his control over his metals, Elian caused his tentacles to spin together like a drill in a clockwise manner. His own arm grew in length and joined them. Tilting his body, he ignited Cinderglass on his feet and lower back to catapult himself forward.

"I will call this move Corkscrew."

The sharp whirling of his chainsaws, along with the rotation of his tentacles and limbs, created a current of wind that tore through the air. Like the cone of a drill, the projectiles that flew towards Elian were diverted away as he flew toward his opponent.

The seeds and the leaves all scattered and turned to dust as they collided with Elian’s corkscrew attack. Like a silver hurricane, he raced forward unchallenged.

’Depth Deeper than the Center’ saw the tiny speck that challenged him. Despite all the leeway he gave the humans, they still fought like savages who threw themselves blindly at their opponents.

In anger, he roared, "MERE PARLOR TRICKS!"

Fully intent on smashing Elian away, ’Depth Deeper than the Center’ brought its titanic arms together. Their immense reach caught Elian right in the center. Just from their size and weight, Elian would be flattened and turned into a blood splatter.

At least that was what was supposed to happen.

"WHAT?!"

Instead, the enemy Tyrant’s arms slammed close, but there was no dead Elian. Instead, part of his bark was gouged and shredded as if ripped apart by a thousand swords. Quickly opening his arms, the Ironwood Wartreant then winced as a sharp pain ran along his limb.

"I’M HURT?" he asked in confusion.

He tried to search for his opponent but saw nothing. He vanished! The only remnants of their clash were the large holes in both his arms. However, it was then that the Tyrant noticed something dripping from his arm.

"HUH? WHAT IS—"

Then something unimaginable happened. A small house-sized chunk of his body fractured and fell from his arm. Along with it was a silver humanoid who secured himself to the chunk of wood with several tentacles.

"DEVOUR!" the silver human shouted.

Like a beast that came from the stuff of nightmares, Elian’s helmet opened up and a gigantic jaw of teeth opened its maw and tore apart the chunk of ’Depth Deeper than the Center’s bark.

"WHAT ARE YOU—"

’Depth Deeper than the Center’ was about to smash the vile insect when thousands of flying mirrors flew like a swarm of locusts. They were small like dust but gathered by the thousands; like a blindfold, they abruptly covered his eyes.

’Depth Deeper than the Center’ shifted his body and sent his eyes to his stomach. When he could finally see again, the silver humanoid was no longer present. And then he felt his arm sag to his side.

What is going on?

Unaware of what happened, he focused on his arm and tried to move it. Yet soon after, he felt a sharp prick come from his leg. Looking down, ’Depth Deeper than the Center’ saw the silver human digging into the bark. But somehow, the size of his drill increased.

"YOU!" he shouted in confusion but grew surprised when he could no longer feel his leg. As if it belonged to someone else, his once-mighty leg suddenly folded, causing him to trip.

With a mighty crash, ’Depth Deeper than the Center’ violently slammed onto the ground. He couldn’t even remember the last time he fell like this. But before he could make sense of what was going on, he left his shin and foot separated from his leg.

Sharp whirling sounds echoed as a familiar scream repeated, "DEVOUR!"

It was only then that the Tyrant of Karnathi understood.

WHAT THE HELL?! THIS BASTARD IS TRYING TO EAT ME!
