My Wife is a Dead Villainess, and I'm Her Living Weapon-Chapter 17: Why
Chapter 17: Why
Though he could not feel anything, Elian smiled. It was something that didn't register as an emotion. But just as powerful, all the same.
Hope.
[Talent: Adamant – deactivated.]
When the chains that killed his heart finally shattered, everything he'd sealed away came flooding back—terror at what could've happened, shame at his own stupidity, resentment at being forgotten.
It crushed him—until one truth rose above it all.
Stronger than the fear. Louder than the shame.
Someone needed him. The one to give him purpose.

He would never betray that trust.
The final tether to his humanity.
"Bianca."
A soft gale blew.
Then a figure appeared in front of him.
More beautiful than any scenery.
More divine than any miracle.
In reverence, Elian kneeled.
"Welcome back."
His master, surprised, held her arm awkwardly. Then, with a small nod, she whispered:
"I have returned. Thank you, Elian."
They hadn't even spent a full week together. But after what they'd survived... something deeper had taken root. Much like their soulgem and core. They could no longer exist without the other.
The boy stood up his eyes ablaze. Yet even after a few moments passed, he did not move. Bianca grew restless. She tried to restore her composure but couldn't. How could she? Even the humans around them all felt the same thing she did.
"Then he really is a knight?"
"Dude, who is the hell she? This thing is a servant?"
"Crap, she doesn't appear in video! Is she ghost?"
However, Tessa quickly slammed her staff on the ground. The loud echo silenced the entire group. Only she knew the truth. And her student's failed to understand the danger they were now in.
"All of you kneel! Now! Eyes down! Quickly!"
The teacher then approached Elian and Bianca slowly. Her heartbeat drumming with each step.
She bowed in reverence and began, "Forgive me, my lady. I am Tessa Potts, a teacher from Crestfall. I beg to know how to address you."
However, Bianca said nothing. It was Elian who reacted.
"Wait... That's Ms. Potts? But she looks twenty!"
Thankfully no one could hear the comment. Bianca couldn't help but roll her eyes at him.
"Uhm... I wish to thank you for having your knight save us my lady. We would have died earlier if not for the Sir. I also wish to beg for clemency at our mistake of touching what belonged to you. I know it's not much, but please have this token of my appreciation."
Tessa then pulled out a large rainbow-colored crystal from her belt. Then with slow steps, she carefully placed it on the ground and backed away.
Even from where he stood, Elian could feel the immense mana contained in it. He looked at Bianca to get her permission. She nodded. And Elian acted.
His right arm turned to a large serpent and lunged for the crystal swallowing it. Immediately he fed it to Bianca's core. Her figure shone like a star for a few seconds, surprising even Elian. Immediately he scanned her core.

"!!!!"
Like a beast Elian faced Tessa. The hundred snakes on his back snarled in unison as he did.
"HIIII!!!"
In fright, the teacher's knees gave way and caused her to fall on her butt. She franticly raised her arms to protect her face and screamed.
"ITS AN A-RANKED BOSS MONSTER CORE! The only one I have and the pension I received for serving as a Breaker! I don't have any more!"
At her shout, Elian's legion of metallic dragons all paused. But digesting her words, they all turned to the rest of her party. In terror, those that had monster cores on them quickly threw them out.
It feels like I'm mugging them. But who cares.
Not missing a chance, Elian took all of them every single one. The sight of Living Metal approaching caused most of the students and teachers to prostrate themselves. Not one of them thought of hiding any riches. Few even had the guts to think of doing so.
Out of curiosity, Elian scanned his classmates and teachers until he found one that made him freeze.

Unable to stop himself, Elian approached his betrayer. Each of his steps made the ground shake. Like a calamity he walked towards the humans. And given what they knew of him. The humans all began to scream inwardly in terror.
They could only beg, barter, or maybe try to negotiate for their lives.
But would he even allow it?
The one who silenced an entire swarm alone—a weapon that rampaged when they touched what was his. Not a man. Not a Breaker. A being with no qualms about murder.
No—this thing was not human.
They weren't facing a peer.
They were prey.
And a single flick of his finger would kill them all.
Tessa came to the same conclusion.
She scrambled and dropped to her knees. Her voice fraught with panic.
"My lady. Please find it in your heart to forgive us. I am responsible for these students. These students... they're Crestfall's best. Please... don't let Sir Knight destroy what's left of them!"
However, the Witch of the Frozen Night didn't even look at Tessa. Her gaze stayed fixed on Elian. Then, she spoke the words that made everyone's blood run cold.
"My weapon. I grant you permission. Do as you please."
Tessa's face went pale at her remarked. Although her body trembled. She raised her staff and began channeling mana. It was only then than Bianca slowly turned to acknowledge her existence.
Eyes devoid of any warmth.
A presence cold and ruthless like a blade.
The moment Tessa saw Bianca's gaze, she knew.
If she interfered in any way... they would all die.
In despair, the woman dispersed her mana and wept. She could only lament her weakness. In the face of absolute power, morals, duty even mercy were like chaff in the wind.
Meanwhile the crowd scattered like fish before a shark. Those not in his path sighed in relief—those who were, trembled. Soon, Elian stood in front of one of them. His metallic dragons also surrounded four others.
"Crap, how do I even talk to them?" he cursed out loud.
Bianca's facade almost broke at her companion's stupidity. Almost.
But then Elian spotted Ned—and got an idea.
A nearby metal snake lunged straight for the student's pocket.
"AHHH—wait... I'm alive?"
Ned blinked as his pants were torn open.
The living metal yanked out his phone, sprouted fingers, and unlocked it without permission.
Then, it began typing.
"What? How does it know my password?" he muttered.
There was only one person who knew Ned's password. The person everyone forgot. The one he sorely missed.
But few could notice the student's confusion, as what happened next caused the five people singled out to break out in cold sweat. Using a robotic voice the monster everyone feared finally spoke.
"[Why?]"
Tessa and the teachers froze at the question.
Trevor and his group panicked—their minds racing.
The only thing they had in common... was the sin they shared.
"[Why did you betray your friend?]"
"[Why did you stab and throw him off a ledge?]"
"[Why did you leave him to die?]"
The teacher's blood boiled.
These five were infamous—the ones who led the ants back to the others.
They triggered the nightmare. And almost got everyone killed.
"YOU... JUST WHAT THE HELL DID YOU IDIOTS DO?!" she roared.
No one answered. Their silence spoke louder than words ever could.
