Chapter 156: Dinner

In a quiet living room deep in the suburbs of Crestfall City, a middle-aged man was flipping through the channels on an old-school television set.

[Fear and panic have spread here in Longsword City. People are afraid to go out...]

[Viciously murdering people on live television! He is an unstable lunatic who should be...]

[That’s a real MAN! Be it aliens or conspiracies, Elian Reed doesn’t care! For his woman...]

[The aliens are already here, man! I’m moving to Crestfall! Screw this and the Big Three!]

[Senator! Why has the Bloodright of Conquest stayed silent on the accusations of treason?]

[ELIAN REED IS THE LEADER EARTH NEEDS! HE DOESN’T LIE, NOR DOES HE RUN!]

[It’s hard to dismiss Mr. Reed’s claims when we all see the system recognize his authority...]

Despite the chaos that shook the world, beside the man were a sweet couple cuddling without a care in the world. Tom Reed couldn’t stop himself from rolling his eyes at the audacity of those two.

They were perhaps the most famous pair in the world. The Tyrant Candidate Elian Reed and his fiancée, the Witch of the Frozen Night, Bianca Valestra.

"E-Elian, stoop—stop, that tickles..." the witch giggled in bliss.

"Shame on you, woman, you keep seducing me like that, then make it my fault?"

"Kya! Have mercy on this poor little me, my Tyrant!"

Elian playfully pinned Bianca down on the bed and licked her from her ears down to her cleavage. Though he got a bit forceful, she didn’t show any discomfort; instead, she bit her lip in excitement.

But then a wooden rolling pin spun toward Elian, smacking him in the square in the temple. The baking utensil made a loud thwack as it rebounded off the Tyrant.

There were only two people in the world who would still have the courage to attack Elian in such a manner. And among the two, only one of them had an uncanny ability to use any household object as a projectile.

"ELIAN REED! STOP BEING SUCH AN INDECENT DEGENERATE AND GET OFF BIANCA! Is that how you treat a woman? By forcing yourself on her? I raised you better than that!"

Elian grimaced; Bianca covered her mouth as she snickered mischievously.

"You better be careful. I’ve got a powerful knight in the kitchen," she teased.

"You really want to push your luck?"

Tom smiled under his beard as he opened a new bottle of beer.

"Enough horsing around, boy." He chastised. Gesturing to the television, he added, "What are you going to do about that?"

Elian gazed at the news and lost interest. The proposal was a week ago, and Elian took Bianca back to his house for a 7-day holiday. He already knew all the things that were being broadcast.

Some were obviously propaganda; those were easy to spot. The Big Three were extremely quiet and have yet to respond to his accusations.

Others were stations and streamers trying to hitch a ride on the wave of popularity. Some tried to reach out to Katri, Silas, and Charlotte to get in touch with him; many didn’t.

Finally, there were serious commentators trying to glean scraps from what they could to present themselves as experts. Personally, what Elian found most interesting was the shows that gave updates on what the other cities did.

His actions caused riots and full-scale rebellions in some cities. The four places the Knight Monster Cores were stolen from, in particular, were in utter chaos. Many moved to Crestfall, but just as many tried to move out. ƒrēenovelkiss.com

It was something Elian already understood from his discussions with Katri. People were selfish bastards who always placed their best interests first and foremost.

"Nothing. They are smart enough people there; they can manage without me. I am going to raid another dungeon."

In a bad mood, Elian separated from Bianca and scooted to the far edge of the couch. Bianca, who grew amused at his reaction, crawled toward him and plopped herself onto his lap. But the Tyrant looked away and refused to acknowledge her.

Feeling playful, Bianca brushed her face against Elian’s stomach like a cat. Despite being made of metal, the texture carefully deformed to not let Bianca hurt herself. The Tyrant resisted the adorable display of his lover begging for attention.

Tom could only sigh in defeat at either the fearlessness or the stupidity of the two before him.

After throwing the world into absolute chaos, they just up and vanished. They switched faces and left the fallout of their actions to their people who remained.

"E-Elian..."

A pitiful whimper was all it took for the Tyrant to cave and give in to Bianca’s demands. Like a spoiled child, she rested her chin on his lap and kicked her feet. Elian brushed her head as one would do to a pet.

The woman who was arguably the new owner of Crestfall enjoyed his caress and almost purred in satisfaction. Rather than listen to what the world wanted, Elian had more pressing concerns on his mind.

Hmm, should Bianca wear a body-hugging wedding dress, a demure one, or a slutty one?

"I don’t mind any of them. I am just happy I get to marry you, my love."

Let’s have them make all three. The demure one is for the church, the body-hugging one is for the reception, and the slutty one is for our first night.

"Gulp... okay... But Elian, my body is still..."

Don’t worry. Yearns gave me a suggestion earlier.

"She did?"

Yeah. That’s why tomorrow we leave to strike the Ironwood Giants. Leave it to me.

"Okay. I can’t wait."

In the seven days they rested, the pair grew more in love and sought each other more intimately. Elian had yet to go the entire way, although Bianca had already given him permission.

Their marriage would only happen once they both gained bodies capable of siring children. Thus, they both grew frustrated but consoled themselves with sweet whispers of affection.

Tom gave up trying to get them to react to the news and just looked for anything unrelated.

"It’s been a week. Why is everything still about the two of you?" he grumbled.

As if to answer, the matriarch of the Reed family came out while mixing a bowl of mashed potatoes.

"What did you expect? My son and daughter-in-law saved an entire city! One that those scummy, despicable liars left to rot! Who would choose to air anything they say over our heroes?"

Behind her were five humanoid Weapons wearing aprons and hairnets. Their faces, while emotionless, were strained. One could see the care with which they carried the food in their hands.

It was a typical family feast. The main course featured roast beef. Side dishes included stuffing, corn on the cob, and dinner rolls. There was also potato salad and apple pie for dessert. Along with a whole lot of beer.

Susan Reed finished mixing the mashed potatoes and set them on the table. She then turned to her helpers and gave them instructions.

"Feb, be a dear and get me some flowers for the table. Aug, please call your siblings. The rest of you, please set the table."

One of them hesitated and asked, "But Lady Susan, we are supposed to work in two teams of six. One protects outside and one inside. We can’t even..."

"Nov, I already told you, Bianca’s people can handle the rest. You work for me, you eat at my table. Now sit." Susan then pointed the spoon she held at Bianca and Elian. "Besides, with those two here, I think we should be fine for a quick meal. Please?"

The Humanoid Weapons looked at each other and then at Elian. Susan noticed and gritted her teeth while glaring at her son.

"You will allow these poor children to eat, will you now, Elian?"

Pressured by her gaze, Elian kept silent and simply nodded.

Immediately, Susan made a bright smile as she clapped, "Wonderful, now everyone, dinner is ready; it’s time to eat!"

Wordlessly, the house moved to follow the words of Susan Reed. In this house, there was no Tyrant or Witch; she was the ruler of anything related to the governance of the household. Tom sat at the head of the table, Elian and Bianca sat to his left, and Susan sat to his right.

The Weapons, or the Months, as Elian’s mother nicknamed them, sat at a second table to the left of the main one.

"Now, Tom. Please lead us in prayer," she requested.

The family of four and the Months held hands at their respective tables and prayed together. Afterwards, the group began to eat. At least they tried to, apart from Tom, Susan, and Bianca; Elian and all twelve of the Months could not actually taste anything.

"Oh, that is right! Bianca, when can we visit your parents? You told them I wanted to meet, right?"

At Susan’s question, the Witch flinched, "Uhm... they are all kind of busy. Mom is traveling, Dad is deployed, and my sister is working hard on a project," Bianca replied awkwardly.

But the queen of the Reed household folded her hands in a steeple as she asked innocently.

"Of course. I can understand that. But Bianca... you said similar words a week ago. You didn’t tell them, did you?"

"A-Ah no, mother-in-law... I did... I... it’s just..." Bianca pulled Elian’s sleeve from under the table with a teary expression.

"Elian... help..." she begged telepathically.

You are so going to regret that...

"What?"

The Tyrant smiled mischievously as he answered.

"I can call them here if you want me to, Ma, shall I?"

"ELIAN, YOU TRAITOR!"
