My Werewolf System-Chapter 1286: No Longer Strong
It was quite clear to the rest of the group, after watching Gary fight against the endless funnel of Werewolves, that they didn't have to worry about him.
This chapter is updat𝙚d by freeweɓnovel.cøm.
It did mean, though, that they needed to focus on the reason why they were there—to save Blake's father. Ylva had stayed true to her word and she hadn't moved a spot from the cabin, and she could see the three heading right for her.
"You think something is different this time?" Ylva said. "If you couldn't take me out before, what makes you think you can this time?"
Ylva started to flick her fingernails out at the three of them. They were running close together, but as they came forward, Blake, with minimal movement of his sword, had deflected them all onto the ground.
Right after, Innu threw his axe in the air, aiming right for Ylva. It was a powerful throw filled with Qi, but despite that, she reached out her hand and managed to grab it and stop it.
"Alright, I really need to stop doing that!" Innu complained. "With these stronger opponents, they keep grabbing my damn axes!"
Innu tried to use his powers to pull it away, and at least he saw one thing as a positive. While she was holding onto the axe, all three of them could attack at the same time.
All of them had leapt from their position, heading straight for Ylva—Midwak with his claw, Innu with his other axe in hand, and Blake with his black sword.
Ylva moved back, avoiding the strike, and then kicked Blake right in the head, sending him across the floor. Now close, she had shot a nail right into Innu's shoulder, making him miss his attack.
Then there was Midwak—she had grabbed him by the wrist and pulled his entire body forward. Then, not even looking at Innu, she kicked him in the stomach, sending him away again.
Both Innu and Blake had been hit back to where they had started, and their bodies were in rough condition—they were already in a rough state.
"Don't worry, Midwak! I knew there would be no difference with you joining in the fight," Ylva commented. "I can tell—you're not really giving it your all."
Ylva then balled up her hand in a fist and punched Midwak right in the face. It was a heavy hit while she held onto his hand.
"Is it because you still have feelings for me?" Ylva said almost with a pout. She had dropped the axe, and Innu had pulled it back into his hand.
"Well, let me tell you, the feeling's not mutual. I can see now there are plenty out there that are better than you!" She dragged Midwak's arm again and, with both feet, she jumped up and drove them into his face.
Before her body hit the ground, she stretched her arms out and pushed herself back up on her feet. To see all three of her targets far away from her—it was a delight to her face.
"Midwak!" Blake shouted. "You better not be pulling your punches like she says! We have to give it our all! We have to! We have to!"
However, Midwak wasn't so sure. It wasn't just that he didn't have the heart in it for him to fight—even if he did, he felt they would be unable to best her.
'Another power of the Luna that I didn't tell Gary about was because it was only rumours,' Midwak thought. 'But based on what she just did, how she was able to avoid and time everything perfectly... I have a feeling it might be true—the power of premonition. Essentially, she can see what's going to happen before it happens, and she's already fast in the first place.'
It was then, though, before Midwak had thought about heading back into the fight with the others, he felt slight warmth on the side of his face. He turned his head to the side, and he could see it—he could see the sun starting to rise.
Usually, this wasn't a problem—in particular for Werewolves, all apart from one type of class. Midwak turned his head in that moment.
'Gary…'
Gary had felt the effects of the sun rising instantly. His system had appeared with all sorts of messages warning him of what had occurred.
'My health… my energy levels!'
Gary obtained three times as much health and energy when fighting in the night. His new form allowed him to regenerate on the go. That was how he was able to fight a large amount of the Werewolves quickly while using as many skills as possible—but now, he had to be careful.
'I can still use the Shadow Ash Lycan form, but if I get hit—and my energy—I really have to be careful.'
Gary had almost instantly changed how he thought. He wasn't using his skills as much anymore, dodging swipes, grabbing the Werewolves and hurling them back into each other.
He was using his fists and legs, but in the middle of doing that, he couldn't help but get hit a couple of times. Due to his high endurance, it didn't do much, but the change was drastic—and the drastic change didn't go unnoticed by Ylva.
"I see now… I see what type of Werewolf he is—what a rare type," Ylva said. "But it looks like his advantage is coming to an end."
So many thoughts were going through Midwak's mind now. They couldn't defeat Ylva—only Gary could. They couldn't fight hundreds of Werewolves—only Gary could. With the sun rising, it now meant it was only a matter of time before Gary would run out of energy.
The mission—it was impossible for them to succeed, leaving them only one choice.
"We… we have to fall back!" Midwak said. "We have to get out of here!"
