My Ultimate OP System: Summoning All Dragons, Gods, Heroes & Villains-Chapter 93: Preparing To Clear A Breach
The response from the Ainzbern Reserve’s security team was swift. In less than three minutes from the breach opening, several trucks drove into view.
The Head of Security, an elf stepped out from the lead vehicle and three uniformed guards followed closely behind him.
He approached the breach cautiously, with his eyes narrowing as he studied the portal.
After exchanging hushed words with his men and making a brief call to the Dimensional Security Bureau, he turned toward both teachers.
"The Bureau will be on their way shortly," he said. "But I’m sorry, we may have to cancel this camping trip until this has been dealt with."
Mr. Kieran nodded immediately. "That is understandable."
But Miss Hana, who had been staring at the portal more intently said, "What if you let us clear it?" s
"Eh?" Kieran turned toward her in mild disbelief.
Even the Head of Security looked taken aback.
Hana turned toward them both and continued before either could object. "Yes. We spent over a week planning this trip, and this is meant to be their last major activity as final years—"
"Miss Hana," Kieran cut her off sharply, "Surely you don’t seriously think we should put our students in danger simply because of how long it took to plan this? Why risk sending students in there when we can’t even ascertain the zone’s grade?"
"But we know it’s not S-Grade," she countered. "If it were, we would be sensing an overwhelming outpour of mana from the breach right now."
She paused for effect, then added, "And Mr. Kieran, is this not what this whole camping exercise is all about? Preparing the final years for the reality of life outside academy walls?"
Kieran sighed. "This is different, Miss Hana..."
"How so? Breach zones are part of our everyday lives. Just like right now, one could randomly open in any part of the city, even in our homes."
Her lips curved into a subtle smile as she added, "Or do they teach the awakened of Belsorth Academy to shy away from these things?"
That last line felt like a slap on the face.
Several Mallory students giggled behind their hands, while others exchanged smug glances.
Kieran however, kept his expression neutral.
Hana gestured briefly toward her students before continuing. "A few of my final years are at least at the peak of A-Tier talent. With them alongside your students, and us as their teachers, I’m sure we can quickly clear this breach and continue our camping trip uninterrupted."
Kieran shook his head. "I still don’t think—"
"We’re ready, Miss Hana."
The voice of a male student came from behind her. This was the class representative of the final years for Mallory High.
Kieran’s eyes widened slightly at the interruption.
But then another voice called out from Belsorth’s side.
"Mr. Kieran," Anna said as she stepped forward from the crowd of students. "We’ll go as well."
Kieran turned toward her in surprise, and then toward his own students standing behind her.
Every single one of them had determined expressions on their faces.
He could tell immediately what they were thinking: they refused to lose face against Mallory High.
Ethan’s reason on the other hand, was different from most of his classmates’. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
He was planning to start a guild specifically for clearing breach zones, so putting himself in a position where he could gain more experience was advantageous.
Mr. Kieran let out a sigh and pinched the bridge of his nose for a moment before turning back toward Miss Hana.
"Alright," he said reluctantly. "We will go as well."
He paused, then added, "But I will say this, I will pull my students out immediately if anything inside suggests this is S-Grade difficulty."
"In that we both agree, Mr. Kieran," Hana replied with a polite nod.
They both turned toward the Head of Security, who had been watching them debate.
"You’re certain you can clear this?" he asked skeptically.
Hana nodded confidently. "These are final years, sir; some of whom are as capable as active guild members. This is also better than waiting on the Bureau."
The elf studied her for a moment longer before finally nodding in reluctant approval.
With that settled, both form teachers turned and headed back toward their respective airships to retrieve their gear, and instruct their students to do the same.
Thankfully, everyone had been asked ahead of time to bring their combat gear to the camp.
—
Not long after, students from both schools emerged from their airships fully equipped and ready for battle.
It was immediately obvious what class each student belonged to just by looking at their gear. For instance; Casters carried wands or staffs tipped with glowing orbs and Sabers held swords of various designs.
But two students from Mallory High stood out above all others:
A purple haired girl, had an artifact shaped like a dark purple star floating beside her.
Another was a blonde girl with a similarly looking artifact floating midair beside her.
None of Belsorth’s students had anything remotely comparable, but they recognized those artifacts immediately for what they were.
Ethan leaned slightly toward Bettie beside him, who was also staring at them in awe. He whispered; "Are those...?"
"Yes," Bettie confirmed without taking her eyes off them. "Resonators."
She had explained what they were during one of their magic lessons. Resonators were essentially a caster’s way to cheat, or at least bend the rules of spell-casting.
Some people called them the high-budget version of a caster’s wand, but they were so much more than that.
Unlike wands or staffs, which were simply tools held in one’s hand, Resonators functioned more like extensions of oneself, floating freely around their user.
Depending on what type you possessed, Resonators could; Store spells you couldn’t naturally cast on your own.
Hold extra reserves of mana beyond your personal capacity.
And even modify spell effects or add new properties to existing spells
But even beyond those specialized functions, every Resonator shared one fundamental advantage over traditional casting methods:
They removed lag time.
Normally when a caster prepared a spell, there was always an inherent delay between thought and manifestation.
Resonators bypassed that entirely by projecting spells directly from themselves rather than requiring mental construction first.
Which meant instantaneous casting without any delay between intention and execution.
Even basic-tier Resonators with these functions cost an absolute fortune, which meant these two girls came from extraordinarily wealthy families capable of affording such extravagance.
Bettie turned toward Ethan after another moment and asked curiously, "What about you? No gear?"
Ethan shrugged with a smile. It seemed he was literally the only person present who hadn’t brought any equipment.
Even Percival, who stepped out beside him moments later, had equipped himself pwith claw-like gauntlets.
Miss Hana emerged from Mallory’s airship, wearing partial armor plating over her right shoulder and arm, with an elegant longsword strapped to her side. She was Saber-class.
Mr. Kieran followed shortly after, wearing nothing particularly flashy except for a simple silver ring on his right index finger.
Both teachers exchanged nods before turning toward the breach portal ahead. Then they proceeded forward into while their respective students followed closely behind.
When they emerged on the other side, everything changed.
The landscape before them was bathed in crimson light. Above them looked like an eclipsed red sun, and the ground itself was bare and had no life.
In the distance, ruins of what might have once been structures or perhaps something organic lay broken and half-buried.
This wasn’t just another monster-infested cavern or dungeon-like breach zone.
This type was referred to as a Worldshift Breach Zone.
——
"Worldshift?" Kieran uttered as he stepped fully into the breach, staring with wide and dazzled eyes at the alien landscape.
As more students filed through the portal behind him, most wore similar expressions of shock and awe, and some had faces filled with growing fear.
Normally, the space in breach zones existed within a dimensional crack. It was a gap between their home planet Charvis and whatever realm the invading monsters originated from.
But Worldshift-type breaches? Those were different.
These monsters, sometimes referred to as Aliens by had somehow discovered a way to bring a fragment of their home world directly into the dimensional gap between their realm and Charvis itself.
It was a phenomenon that not even the greatest minds in Gritnia had fully understood yet.
But this was the only plausible explanation anyone had come up with so far: these creatures weren’t just invading through the cracks anymore. They were also transplanting pieces of their own world into the space between dimensions.
And the discovery of Worldshift breaches had been exactly how humanity on Charvis came to understand that these monsters came with hostile intent.
Because if they could shift fragments of their world into the dimensional gap, then theoretically, they could shift it all the way into Charvis itself.
Which made it horrifyingly evident that these creatures intended to take over Charvis, replacing it piece by piece with their own nightmarish reality.
