Chapter 60: Orcs

"So those fat pigs eat people, huh? That’s good to know," I mumbled to myself, which for some reason caused the princess to frown at me.

"What?" I asked.

"You don’t have to phrase it like that. You can stand to be a little more modest."

Modest?

The orcs were bigger than humans, their flesh harder to slice through than ours, and I would say we were smarter. To me, those were the only differences between us. I would kill a human just as easily as I would kill an orc.

The princess and I slaughtered every orc that we came by. The village was small and there wasn’t a lot of land to cover. Still, we hadn’t run into any of the villagers.

"The town hall," the princess suggested. "It’s the only place big enough to store everyone."

It made sense. The princess was racking her brain trying to figure out where they were; she didn’t even want to consider the other possibility.

The town hall was rather large in size, and looking at it from outside, it did look like it could house the villagers. Plus, there was the fact that we found two orcs posted up outside as guards.

We quickly dispatched them before they could make a sound.

"We should take it slow," the princess whispered. "Maybe there is a window we can peek in to know what’s going on inside before we enter."

I understood being careful. Most of the time, only people who were foolish were reckless. But being too careful wasn’t any better. The people who are always careful don’t know how to act when there is a surprise or something they didn’t plan for.

Sometimes you need to be reckless so you know how to act in the heat of the moment.

The main problem with the princess was that she was too uptight. She needed to loosen up a bit.

I leaned in close behind her as she peeked through the door and whispered something in her ears.

"Let me know when you get there."

"Huh..."

Before she could even turn around or ask what I meant, I slapped her on the ass and shoved her through the door. She let out a cute scream as she nearly tripped over her feet on her way through the door.

’Inside the scene was horrific, blood and chunks of human flesh plastered across the wall, the sound of bones breaking as the orcs devoured human flesh.’ That was what I would’ve preferred to see, but what we actually saw was far more horrifying.

On a large table was a female orc lying on her back with her legs open. Around her were several male orcs lined up to take turns.

"Eeeeeek!"

The princess’s face turned crimson red as she screamed in a way that made her sound like a small animal. The idiot even flailed her hand in front of her face.

That minute hesitation gave the orcs enough time to process what was going on and to attack.

I stepped in front of the battleaxe aimed to chop off her head.

The blow hit the middle finger with tremendous force, sending me flying. The orcs were slouches when it came to speed and skill, but their raw strength was unmatched. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

I felt the force throughout my entire body; my bones felt as if they were vibrating. The orc didn’t let up on the attack. Within seconds of me hitting the ground, it was above me, swinging its axe down with tremendous force.

I readied myself, but just then a sword pierced through its heart. The princess stood behind the orc with her sword lodged through its heart. It looked like she had regained a bit of her composure at least.

She shoved the orc off her blade, which caused it to fall lifelessly, forcing me to roll out of the way before being crushed by the giant beast.

I quickly climbed to my feet as there were more orcs that started surrounding us.

"We should work to..."

The princess began to speak, but I was already gone. I charged towards the orc that was closest to me with the middle finger in hand. Seeing my charge, the orc roared and raised its club, swinging it down towards me with tremendous force.

I slid to the side and slashed the middle finger at its round stomach, slitting the orc open. The orc dropped its club and clutched its stomach, but even with its giant hand, it couldn’t stop its intestines from falling out.

Not wanting to bother with the dying beast, I turned my attention to the female orc. She was being protected by two orcs.

Interesting...

Unable to hold myself back, I charged towards the female orc. The two orcs by her side immediately stepped in front of her in a protective gesture. I slid between their legs with ease and appeared in front of the female orc behind them.

The female orc panicked. She wanted to run, but in an instant, the middle finger pierced her gut, which was as big as the rest of her hideous kind.

I purposefully didn’t land a killing blow. I wanted her to bleed out and for the other orcs to panic when they couldn’t save her. Panic would make them a lot easier to slaughter.

And like clockwork, the giant orcs threw themselves at me while neglecting their defenses. I slit the first orc’s throat when it placed too much force behind its swing and couldn’t recover in time to defend itself.

The second orc wasn’t any better. I positioned myself between him and the injured female orc, which caused him to hesitate before swinging the rusty clump of metal it called a sword. The second it took to hesitate, I threw the blade of calamity, which pierced it directly in the heart.

The princess watched in awe as the orcs came at me one by one, only to get cut down in an instant.

They brought themselves to me like sheep to the slaughter. The more the female orc bled, the more they panicked and rushed in to attack.

Soon, all that was left were their giant bodies piled up on top of each other on the floor. With the male orcs dead, all that was left was the female. I turned around only to see a blood trail behind me as she desperately crawled away.

I walked after her with the middle finger resting comfortably on my shoulder.

"Wait, no!"

Suddenly, the princess shouted at me, causing me to stop.

"What’s the problem?" I asked. "Orcs eat humans; you said it yourself."

"Yes, but... Only 1 in every 10 orcs is female. Female orcs are extremely rare, which is why they were umm... The point is, there is a possibility that she might be pregnant. It’s not right. It doesn’t matter what the orcs do. We are humans, so we shouldn’t."
