My Tribrid System: More than a Monster-Chapter 111: Pervert
Chapter 109
"Oh, hey brother! Didn’t know you were here too!"
"....."
An awkward, deafening silence rang out through the entire hall as every student present stared at the boy who had just strolled in.
Then, as if on cue, they all turned their heads to stare at the person he had just addressed as ’brother.’
— I don’t understand. I don’t see any similarities between them.
At this exact moment, Ray just wanted the ground to open up and swallow him whole.
He maintained intense eye contact with the floor, refusing to break his gaze for even a second.
’There goes my plan of remaining undercover. I swear, I will skin this bastard werewolf alive!’
"Who are you?" Captain Jake asked, casting a sharp, questioning glance at the newcomer.
"Oh, hi. The name is Felix. I’m an Aspirant who just joined the Corps a few days ago. I was told to choose an aspect class, so I came here. I didn’t know my brother was here too."
’Oh, for fuck’s sake. Stop calling me brother, you degenerate bastard!’
"Hm?" The Captain glanced between Ray and Felix for a few moments, his expression unreadable.
With a quiet, exasperated sigh, Ray ignored the heavy stares and began hurriedly walking off the platform.
He rushed through the rows and vanished into the crowd of Aspirants, finding a quiet, dark corner to hide in.
His heart beat silently against his ribs as he maintained a deep frown.
"Well then, come inside and stop disrupting the class," Jake commanded.
"My apologies." Felix bowed slightly and then began walking forward with a proud, confident stride.
’Woah! So many beautiful ladies,’ he marvelled, his eyes wandering over the crowd.
Noticing the stares from the female students, Felix began running his hand through his hair in a ’cool’ pose.
He beamed at them and even occasionally threw a wink their way.
’Ew! What a pervert.’
Finally, he found a spot and stood silently, though his presence still felt far too loud for Ray’s liking.
Ray stared at the werewolf’s back, his brow furrowed.
’Please don’t spot me. Please don’t look this way...’
Naturally, Felix turned his head and caught Ray glaring at him.
He didn’t look away; instead, he smiled widely and winked at him.
’Okay. I genuinely want to gouge his eyes out—’
"Let’s continue the class," the Captain interrupted, refocusing the attention of the students.
"Before I proceed, I just want to say; to you all here, don’t feel jealous or resentful that they received a weapon. I already have a weapon training session planned for the following week. So for now, let’s focus on hand-to-hand combat."
The Aspirants smiled at this news, and the class continued as usual.
But Ray was completely uninterested.
His eyes drifted down to his new gauntlets and the shimmering beast core still in his possession.
’I think I should absorb the core now,’ he mused inwardly.
’This is the safest place to do it because if I handle it incorrectly or something goes wrong, the Captain can intervene.’
With that thought, he prepared to crush the core, but a prompt stopped him.
[Does Host wish to absorb advanced rank beast core?]
[Yes/No]
Without a second of hesitation, Ray clicked on ’Yes.’
The next moment, a faint light consumed the core in his palm.
Cracks formed rapidly across its surface, and soon enough, it shattered with a low, resonant ring.
The core dissolved into glowing particles that swooshed toward him at top speed, wafting into his nose and mouth before vanishing into his system.
[Advanced core absorbed]
[Your spark grows...]
[+5 MF]
’My spark grows? Ha~ weird terminology. Hm. But just five points of Meta-Force? That is quite... meager, I must say.’
’At least it is still an increase. System, let me see the status.’
[MF: 55/55]
’Looks good. I wonder what my capacity is before I need to evolve to the next grade.
Wait! How exactly does a meta evolve to the next rank? And hang on... where did my ability actually originate from?’
’I don’t think I have heard of a lightning ability yet. But there should be one out there, right? I have seen flames, heard of wind, seen ice, and have even witnessed earth. Where is the lightning? Does that mean I am the only one with this specific power?’
There was no point in questioning himself further, so he simply shrugged and glanced back down at the gauntlet in his hand, the steel claws catching the overhead light.
’... I really wonder what this weapon can do aside from simple punching and slicing. I will definitely need to spar with that training doll after this session is over.’
"And that is it for today’s class!" Captain Jake shouted, his voice booming and causing Ray to snap his head up in surprise.
’Ouch. Did I really zone out for the entirety of the instruction? No problem.’ He shrugged it off as he watched the crowd of Aspirants rushing to exit the hall.
’I need to leave immediately before that fool catches onto me,’ he snarled inwardly, moving quickly to join the stream of departing students.
He blended in smoothly, shuffling his feet like the others while lightly navigating through the press of bodies.
Soon after, he successfully made his way outside with the rest of the group.
He heaved a massive sigh of relief as a small smile finally crossed his face.
’I did i—’
Suddenly, his hand was yanked to the side roughly, causing him to almost lose his footing.
Before he could even begin to react, his neck was snagged in a firm arm lock.
"Hey, brother."
’Oh, my heavens.’
***
Unfortunately for Ray, he was caught completely off guard and found himself unable to do much about the situation.
He was being pulled steadily in the direction of the library by the exuberant werewolf.
Felix hadn’t said much else other than "we need to talk" after initiating the arm lock.
Ray just quietly followed side by side with the werewolf, his mind racing.
’What exactly does he want to talk to me about? Wait, why am I even following him? It is not like he is truly forcing me, right? But still, it is probably for the best to hear him out.’
Soon enough, the pair walked into the silent library.
They picked random books off the shelves to act as a cover before selecting a secluded table in the back.
After activating a noise-cancellation field at the desk, Felix dropped his book and leaned backward, his intense eyes fixed squarely on Ray.
"What?" Ray couldn’t help but ask, a deep frown of annoyance crossing his face.
"Nothing. It is just that, I have spent close to three days here and I have gathered all the information I possibly can about the current state of this world.
But not once in the history books did I come across a single mention of a werewolf or anything even remotely similar.
So, how did you come to be? How are you part werewolf and part human? That is what I truly want to know."
’Oh. So that is why I was dragged all the way here. Wait, what on earth do I even answer him now?’
