Chapter 80: Chapter 80: It Still Hurts

A forced smile appeared on her face, "How could that be? We’re all friends here. Just joking, just joking."

Melody Thorne didn’t sit down immediately but pushed the chair that Sheryl Lancaster had sat on aside and pulled up an unused one to sit on. "Sorry, I’m a bit of a neat freak."

"You—" Sheryl Lancaster almost couldn’t maintain her gentle face, but she couldn’t lose her temper in front of Jared Quinn, so she swallowed her anger.

Jared Quinn cast a cold glance at Melody Thorne. She raised an eyebrow; after all, he had said that no matter what methods she used, as long as Sheryl Lancaster stopped clinging to him and ruining tonight’s collaboration, it was fine.

And she hadn’t even used any methods, she had just said a few words.

Melody Thorne thought about how Sheryl Lancaster was an artist under Radiant Media & Entertainment, and after she graduated, she had signed with Dynasty Entertainment. The two companies were sworn enemies, using every means to promote their own artists and relentlessly suppress their opponents.

So, it didn’t matter if she got into a conflict with Sheryl Lancaster now, since they would be rivals in the future anyway.

"Come on, let’s have a drink. We’re all friends here, don’t be shy. Don’t be shy. Later, Snow Ying will accompany Young Master Quinn for a dance. It’s been a while since you last met, so coming back a little late is fine," Hector Lancaster said with a smile.

"Snow Ying? Are you Sheryl Lancaster?" Melody Thorne pretended as if she had just realized Sheryl Lancaster’s name.

"Yes," Sheryl Lancaster replied through gritted teeth. Who didn’t know her name? It was obvious Melody Thorne was doing it on purpose.

She forced a smile, pretending to be gentle and gracious, "Did you forget? I visited the Quinn Family three months ago, and we met."

Melody Thorne leaned one hand on the table and tapped the other on the tabletop, as if trying to recall something.

Suddenly, she looked up, her fingers stopped tapping, and her half-smiling gaze fell on Sheryl Lancaster. "I remember now; you indeed went to the Quinn Family that day."

"Yes, I went with Young Master Quinn," Sheryl Lancaster glanced shyly in Jared Quinn’s direction.

"I have quite a deep impression of you," Melody Thorne said with a smile, her slender white fingers skimming along the table’s edge to hook Jared Quinn’s finger. She said nonchalantly,

"I remember you said something like, how a bitch like me, whose family is bankrupt, still has the nerve to stick around Jared Quinn."

"Oh, and you also said that soon you would become Jared Quinn’s official woman, and by then I’d have to leave the Quinn Family in tears."

Sheryl Lancaster’s face, as well as the elder Lancasters’, turned a mix of indigo and purple, especially since this was said in front of Jared Quinn.

"How could I say something like that? You must have heard wrong," Sheryl Lancaster took a sip of wine, casting a sideways glance at Jared Quinn. His once-gentle face seemed to be shrouded in a thin layer of ice.

It was clear he was somewhat angry.

Jared Quinn indeed didn’t know about this. That day, because paparazzi were following them, he took Sheryl Lancaster back to the Quinn Family and then went to the study, completely oblivious to what transpired afterward.

"Really?" Melody Thorne propped her head with one hand. "But I remember you also knocked me over to the ground and stepped on my fingers back then."

As she spoke, she moved Jared Quinn’s hooked finger slightly. "I even heard the bones crack then, and it still hurts now."
