Chapter 73: Chapter 73: You Did It on Purpose

"Hand it over," Penny Lane walked toward her.

Melody Thorne took a step back, looking somewhat troubled at Ivy, her hand tightly gripping the photograph.

Around them, there was a murmur of whispers,

"Melody Thorne and Ivy are truly best friends, still covering for each other in front of the homeroom teacher."

"Aren’t they? True friendship till the end."

"That’s not it. Ivy is cunning. She’s been playing Melody Thorne for a fool."

"Melody Thorne must have lost her mind, being tricked so many times yet still defending her. World’s best friend indeed."

The crowd around them exchanged comments,

The more Ivy listened, the darker her expression grew. Although she clung to Melody Thorne when she was at the Quinn Family’s, at school, she tried her best to stay far away, often working against her behind her back, making a joke of her. Where was the best friend in that?

Could Melody Thorne really call herself Ivy’s best friend?

"Melody Thorne, hand it over," Penny Lane angrily grabbed one of Melody Thorne’s hands and snatched the photograph, then glanced at it.

Immediately, her face turned from green to white, then white to black...

At this moment, Director Irving also approached. The women who were always with Ivy kept signaling her to stop Director Irving, but Ivy didn’t understand their intention and followed along.

"Everybody stop looking, stop looking," Melody Thorne waved her hands, pretending to snatch back the photograph.

But Director Irving’s eyes had already fallen on it, revealing nearly naked, scandalously posed individuals on the photograph...

"Ah," Ivy screamed, quickly grabbing the photograph and hiding it behind her back. "No... no, it’s not mine! Someone deliberately photoshopped my photo to humiliate me."

People would believe her once or twice, but now they were wholly convinced otherwise.

Even Director Irving had a darkened expression; his female lead was supposed to be the classic innocent and pure girl, yet Ivy kept being involved in scandals like this.

"It’s you! It has to be you," Ivy pointed in Melody Thorne’s direction. "You’re the one who brought the photograph; you must be trying to make me lose face and get eliminated on purpose!"

"I didn’t," Melody Thorne replied innocently.

"Melody Thorne, why did those people kidnap you last night?" Jean Gage interjected.

"They... they..." Melody Thorne stammered, her eyes misty, speaking softly, "because I discovered they were mass-producing Ivy’s scandalous photos, and I tried to retrieve them, but they kidnapped me. They almost hurt me, but luckily, Keith Lawson and the others saved me."

As she spoke, she removed the scarf from her neck, revealing a long scar.

Ivy nearly spat out blood, walking over and grabbing Melody Thorne by the collar, "Say it again, they kidnapped you to take your nude photos, what does that have to do with my photos!"

Melody Thorne looked up, clear eyes gradually focused like a falling star filled with grudging revenge, "Because they wanted your photos, planning to sell them at a high price. I was trying to help you."

When Ivy met her gaze, especially seeing that hateful coldness within, she felt a tightness in her chest, as if being challenged. She gripped Melody Thorne’s collar even tighter, "You’re lying! You did it on purpose!"

"Look, a true best friend indeed, first to accuse others when she’s in trouble."

"Shh, keep your voice down, The Adler Family has shares in Director Irving’s new show, we can’t afford to offend them."

"Toxic friend, truly shameless."
