"Jared Quinn, did you hear me? I don’t need you to save me, and I don’t want to die with you. Have you thought about Timmy if you die with me? What will happen to Timmy?"

Melody Thorne spoke more urgently, but she didn’t realize that her current expression was much better than just being completely unemotional.

Jared’s steps didn’t stop; instead, he walked faster, reaching in front of her within a few strides.

"Jared Quinn, I don’t need you to save me, get lost!" If it weren’t for the ropes binding her too tightly, Melody Thorne would have kicked out.

She had already said she didn’t want him to save her, so what was he doing?

"Shut up!" Jared put down the briefcase and crouched down, his large hand touching the wires, his eyes focused and analyzing.

"Jared Quinn, go away. I said go away. Why are you so thick-skinned?" Melody anxiously bent her head down. "Don’t touch it, don’t touch those wires, it’ll explode, Jared, it will explode!"

"Shut up," Jared furrowed his brow. "If you say another word, I’ll gag you."

"Jared Quinn, you’re really annoying. I used to like you, but you didn’t like me, and then you shamelessly pursued me after, but I no longer like you. I don’t want you to save me anymore. If I die, you can find someone else. Can you move away? I don’t want to die with you!"

Jared pulled off his tie from around his neck and stuffed it into her mouth.

The world finally quieted down for a moment.

"Melody Thorne, I treated you so poorly before, and you haven’t even had the chance to get back at me. Are you going to just leave like this?" Jared kept her distracted while inspecting the wires.

"Mmm..." Melody tried to bite through the tie but found it was impossible. Jared’s tie seemed indestructible.

Another minute passed, Jared lifted a wire, looked up at her, "Scared?"

Melody nodded vigorously, scared. She was very scared. She was most afraid Jared would die with her.

Jared’s gaze landed on her pale, sweaty forehead, clearly indicating Melody was extremely nervous.

"No guts," Jared sneered coldly as he clipped through the wire, acting as if it was an ordinary task.

Melody watched in horror, eyes widening as she saw him snip through two wires, as if playing with their lives, not caring about survival.

"Mmm..." Melody wanted to speak again but could make no sound.

"Beep." Suddenly, the explosive device started ringing, and time began accelerating at three times the speed.

"Jared..."

"Beep..." Another beep cut the initial seven minutes to three, with five wires still to cut. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

He wasn’t a god; he needed to analyze wire by wire, and time was far from enough...

"Mmm..." Melody’s sweat dripped onto Jared’s hair, her whole body turning cold.

Fear is not simply dying but enduring the agony during the process.

Jared looked up at her colorless face and spoke deeply, "Don’t be afraid. Even if we die, I will die with you. This time, you can have your revenge on me, and I won’t fight back."

They hadn’t been truly together yet. How could he possibly let her die alone?
