Chapter 422: Chapter 422: Too Horrible to Look At

Melody Thorne glanced at the rearview mirror from the corner of her eye, and closely following behind was Caleb’s car. Even with Jared Quinn here, he still managed to catch up.

"It’s too hot," Melody Thorne rolled down the window, stretching her hand outside just enough to block the rearview mirror.

But she quickly saw the other side that couldn’t be blocked.

Jared Quinn drove steadily with a calm demeanor, his sharply defined, handsome face showing no emotion, growing increasingly alluring and mischievous.

But such calmness made Melody Thorne feel uneasy.

Melody Thorne’s gaze fell on his well-defined large hand, then she reached over to hold his fingers.

"Screeech—" Suddenly, Jared Quinn stepped on the brakes, and the car that had been moving quickly came to an abrupt stop. Behind them came the sound of tires scraping the ground, making her somewhat frightened.

Melody Thorne’s gaze immediately turned to the car behind them. Caleb’s car had completely veered off the lane, narrowly avoiding a collision, but cars behind continued to crash into Caleb’s car.

"Jared Quinn."

"Don’t worry, he’s fine," Jared Quinn restarted the car, his deep and fathomless eyes concealing an inexplicable danger after she had just glanced back.

Melody Thorne worriedly turned back again to look. Caleb had never harmed her, so she didn’t wish for anything bad to happen to him.

Their car drove off, and Caleb’s car followed, though the rear end was quite badly damaged.

At the hospital, Melody Thorne got out of the car, and Jared Quinn only left after escorting her to the outside of the hospital room.

Melody Thorne leaned to the window to look down. Caleb was outside, not even trying to hide. He stood there in a white suit, leaning against his almost-totaled car.

It seemed... he wasn’t hurt.

Then, Jared Quinn walked out through the stairs...

"Sis!" Finn Thorne suddenly spoke in her ear, and the lunch box in Melody Thorne’s hand almost slipped and hit Jared Quinn’s head.

"Finn Thorne, can’t you be quieter!" Melody Thorne clutched the lunch box to her chest in shock, turning to enter the hospital room.

"Sis, I didn’t see it, but now you’re so infatuated with brother-in-law. Even when he’s gone, you’re still standing here gazing eagerly," Finn Thorne teased with a laugh, trailing behind her like a tail.

Melody Thorne stopped, "Finn Thorne, go down and take a look. If you see Jared Quinn doing anything extreme or if two men start fighting at the hospital entrance, make sure to come and tell me."

Finn Thorne "... Two men fighting? Sis, are you cheating?"

"Go quickly."

"Fine, fine, I’ll go, I’ll go."

Melody Thorne walked in, and Mrs. Thorne was still sleeping. She hadn’t woken up when she left yesterday, and this morning, she was still asleep...

She placed the lunch box on the table. It was kept warm, so she wasn’t worried about it getting cold. Melody Thorne glanced at Mrs. Thorne’s IV bottle; she likely wouldn’t wake up anytime soon,

Melody Thorne turned to walk to where Dr. Mo was, to ask about Mrs. Thorne’s current condition.

She had just exited the hospital room when Rochelle Thorne, who had been hiding in the adjacent room, came out. She was waiting for a chance, as Melody Thorne dared to be so arrogant in front of her. If she didn’t show her some tricks, Rochelle thought she’d still believe a man would always protect her.

What would those men do if they saw her cunning heart?

Rochelle Thorne tiptoed into the hospital room.

"Mom..."

"Mom..."

Mrs. Thorne didn’t respond. Rochelle had put sleeping pills in the water she gave her in the morning, timing it precisely to have Melody Thorne come over.
