My Super Sassy Dad: Stop Running Away, Mrs. Quinn!-Chapter 397: Hopelessly in Love with Her
"Sister-in-law, it’s not that I don’t want to help you. I haven’t even met Madam Thorne, so how am I supposed to help you? At the very least, I need to know the cause of her illness. Even if her previous reports show that it’s due to a car accident, I still need to see her in person."
Melody propped her chin with one hand and spoke seriously, "I thought you were a miracle worker, just give you a medical report, and you’d be fine. Seems like your reputation is undeserved."
Leon Rivers’ eye twitched twice. Does she understand or is she blind? Was the title of ’miracle worker’ so easily insulted? He winked at Jared Quinn, hoping he would manage the woman beside him.
But no matter how much he winked, Jared’s gaze remained indulgent as he looked at Melody.
He wished he could give her the whole world, pluck stars and the moon from the sky for her, there was no question of stopping her.
"Hmm, don’t lose your title of miracle worker," Jared finally shifted his gaze from Melody and spoke lightly to Leon Rivers.
Leon Rivers: "..."
Damn, is this how you play?
"I still need to keep an eye on Titus Quinn," Leon made up an excuse.
A layer of frost brewed in Jared’s deep, cold eyes. "You don’t need to keep an eye on him now. The contracts between Z Country and C Country have been settled. He won’t make any moves for the time being."
Leon Rivers: "I think we shouldn’t let our guard down."
After all, they are brothers, and Jared always considers the bond between siblings, but Titus Quinn might not feel the same.
He’s made several moves in secret already; without their vigilance, something surely would have happened.
As they talked about Titus Quinn, Melody couldn’t help but lift her gaze, staring at the man with the striking profile above her. Does he also know that Titus Quinn has ill intentions?
In a previous life, Jared seemed unaware, which is why she was always worried about this matter.
When she looked up, Jared happened to look down, his deep, dark eyes seemed to shine with countless lights, yet wrapped in darkness from the outside, and his gaze at her was quite meaningful.
Melody felt as though he could see right through her, her gaze flickered, and she then looked aside at Leon Rivers. "Go find Finn Thorne; use your status as a friend to move into the Thorne Family, figure out my mom’s condition, and hopefully, she’ll recover her memory as soon as possible. Otherwise, your ’miracle worker’ title might not last."
Leon Rivers: "..."
When asking someone for help, shouldn’t you say something nice to persuade them?
Plead with him.
"Go on," Melody picked up her bag from the sofa and walked out, strutting past Leon Rivers haughtily. She hadn’t been to the set in days and didn’t know how things were going there now.
"Jared, you really need to do something about your woman," Leon Rivers said speechlessly. "If you don’t, she might really take off to heaven."
She’s being pushy.
Only after Melody’s figure disappeared did Jared withdraw his gaze, speaking thoughtfully, "It’s okay. If she wants to go to heaven, she can build a rocket."
Leon Rivers: "..."
He suddenly felt a bit existentially wistful. Damn, it’s just a woman, isn’t it?
Why all the fuss? Don’t all men have women? Is it that precious?
"Jared, could it be that you’ve fallen for her? And you’re so in love you can’t extricate yourself?"
Jared shifted his cold gaze sideways, his finely-chiseled features slightly darkened, scoffing coldly, "Nonsense."
