My Super Sassy Dad: Stop Running Away, Mrs. Quinn!-Chapter 323: You Dare Deceive Me?
"If there’s anything you’re unhappy about, communicate with Simon Sutton promptly."
"Okay," Sheryl Lancaster clenched her fists. Jared Quinn was just giving her a regular superior’s greeting. What exactly did he want? Did he bring her here just to work?
Sheryl Lancaster was nearly driven crazy by this feeling. How could it be like this? How could it.
"Mr. Jared," Sheryl Lancaster finally couldn’t hold it in any longer, "Did you personally have someone bring me here just to make me work at the Quinn Corporation?"
Jared Quinn’s cigarette was gradually burning out at his fingertips. The man’s expression always remained indifferent, without any fluctuation.
The door to the office was pushed open. Simon Sutton happened to hear what Sheryl Lancaster had just asked.
"Miss Lancaster, actually it wasn’t Mr. Jared who arranged for you to work at Quinn Group, it was me," Simon Sutton explained. "The company recently had too many contracts, and Mr. Jared wanted someone trustworthy to join us. After thinking it over, you were the most suitable, so I had someone pick you up."
"It was you?" Sheryl Lancaster’s expression could no longer be described as unpleasant.
She never would have thought that these past few days she was like being played by someone, and that Jared Quinn hadn’t personally arranged for her pickup, nor kept her here because of the incident at the press conference. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
From beginning to end, she was just a secretary.
"It was me," Simon Sutton said. "If Miss Lancaster feels she can’t adapt to this job, I will find someone else to replace you."
Sheryl Lancaster’s fingers dug into her palms. Even getting back to Jared Quinn’s side wasn’t easy, and she definitely couldn’t leave now.
Was Ivy lying to her about that secret about Timmy?
"No, that’s not it, I can handle it," Sheryl Lancaster forced a smile.
"That’s good," Simon Sutton placed the documents he was holding onto the desk. "President, these are all the contracts that need approval today.
...
At the mental institution.
The usually impatient Sheryl Lancaster couldn’t hold her ground any longer. She walked to the most private room for mental patients, using her connections inside to smoothly evade Harold Chapman’s people, and saw the woman inside, Ivy, who was already in a sorry state.
"Why are you here?" Ivy, holding her head, was hiding in a corner of the room. Now that The Adler Family was finished, she had to pretend to be crazy. Only by doing so might she have a chance at freedom again.
"Didn’t I tell you? Use that thing, but don’t come here to see me after using it. Jared Quinn will find out, he definitely will."
Sheryl Lancaster had endured enough at Quinn Group. What did it mean that once Jared Quinn found out about that so-called secret, he would drive Melody Thorne away from him? What did it mean that the position of Mrs. Quinn would be hers?
False, all of it was false.
"You dared to deceive me," Sheryl Lancaster, after all, was a wealthy heiress, how could she tolerate being played around with by others. She vented all her anger on Ivy, giving her a hard slap, releasing the fury she had been holding for so many days.
"Ah!" Ivy screamed. "Sheryl Lancaster, why are you hitting me? You promised me you would save me, you promised to get me out, why are you hitting me, why?"
"Why?" Sheryl Lancaster let out a cold laugh. "You don’t know what you lied to me about? What about the nonsense that Timmy was born to another woman, what about being kidnapped, and all those checks, it was all fake. Jared Quinn doesn’t care, he doesn’t care at all."
