My Skill Bar is Full of Monster Skills-Chapter 43: Cohabiting Creatures
This immediately put Raine on alert.
Something is wrong with this foreman.
But... he had never heard of humans colluding with Kobolds.
For a moment, Raine couldn’t make sense of it.
"These are the Kobold footprints, and they’re quite fresh." At that moment, Fabian, who was walking ahead, suddenly crouched down, illuminating small footprints on the damp ground with a torch, and said.
"There are human footprints too."
"Wait, there’s a trap ahead." Suddenly, Fabian raised his hand, signaling everyone to stop.
He placed the torch on the ground and cautiously moved a few stacked stones aside.
A thin line extended from the stones towards the mine shaft wall, where a bell was placed within the rock crevice.
Alongside the line upwards, a glass jar filled with black liquid was fixed at the top of the cave wall.
"It’s a poison jar. If accidentally triggered, the bell will ring, and the poison jar will tip over."
"Though not fatal to us, it could injure someone and alarm the Kobolds inside with the bell sound," Fabian explained while quickly dismantling the trap.
Seeing this scene, Raine’s mind stirred.
Illuminated by the torch, his Low Light Vision allowed him to detect the thin line almost simultaneously with Fabian.
In terms of individual combat power, Kobolds and goblins don’t differ much, but Kobold intelligence surpasses goblins, as evidenced by the traps set before them.
"Alright."
Fabian quickly dismantled the trap.
Meanwhile, he carried the large jar of poison with him.
They continued cautiously for several minutes. After Fabian disabled another trap, the group reached an intersection.
"A three-way intersection. Which way do we go?" Chris asked, but he was already looking at Raine.
Reya found this scene rather odd.
Chris didn’t ask Fabian about the path, despite it being his job to scout.
When Reya looked at Fabian, he too was seriously looking at Raine.
This made Reya even more curious.
The truth is, she hadn’t entered the Giant Vampire Bat’s lair and hadn’t witnessed Raine determining the path in the cave.
"The Kobold scent is significantly denser on this side; it should be their main activity area. The other two are much fainter," Raine pointed to the passage on the far right and said.
"Hmm?" Reya’s eyes widened, looking Raine up and down, unsure of what to say.
After killing the Wild Boar caravan before, Raine had smelled something on her...
But Reya always considered it a coincidence.
This time, unlike Chris’s exaggerated description at the bat cave entrance, the real event unfolding before her felt completely different.
How could a human have such sensitive smell?
It was simply unbelievable.
Additionally, Reya really wanted to ask Raine what career path he intended to take?
A Mage Apprentice, surpassing Fabian in exploration and navigation.
Surpassing Chris in monster endurance.
More agile than Grande...
"Captain?" Seeing Reya staring blankly at him, Raine couldn’t help but wave his hand in front of her face and said.
"Oh, it’s nothing, let’s go."
With a likely confrontation with a large number of Kobolds, Reya repositioned Fabian, who was wearing Leather Armor, in the middle of the team.
Raine took the lead, followed by Chris.
Meanwhile, Grande, also a Shield Bearer, walked at the back of the group.
Since his defense wasn’t weaker than Chris’s, he walked at the rear to guard against surprise attacks from behind.
At this moment, Raine’s nostrils gently flared, smelling the increasingly mixed and dense Kobold scent.
At the same time, he heard faint digging sounds echoing through the narrow passage ahead.
Thanks to the Sensitive Smell from the Wild Boar Warrior and the Sensitive Hearing from the Giant Bloodsucking Bat Leader, Raine detected the enemies ahead before anyone else.
He slowed his pace slightly and opened his mouth.
A high-frequency detection wave, imperceptible to human ears, spread rapidly down the passage like invisible waves, an Echo Location Lv1 technique borrowed from the Vampire Bat.
In Raine’s mind, the continuous reflections of high-frequency waves began to form an outline of the deep tunnel terrain ahead.
"Huh? Up ahead is a larger underground hall?" Raine thought silently to himself.
Receiving the sonar feedback, he mentally mapped out a rough three-dimensional diagram of the space ahead.
About thirty meters ahead, the echoes suddenly became chaotic and overlapping, suggesting a larger, open hall.
Moreover, judging from a black vortex disappearance of sound waves, the hall likely had a passage leading further underground.
Regarding those individual special echoes, there were a total of —
One.
Two.
...
Eleven....
"Huh, why are these three at the top of the hall?" Raine was surprised.
But judging by their size, they didn’t seem much larger than ordinary Kobolds.
What are they....
After a brief ponder, Raine quickly told the others behind him:
"The Kobolds are just ahead, about thirty meters away, in an underground hall, which seems like a spot miners used for resting and transferring ore carts."
Upon hearing Raine’s words, everyone looked at him with puzzled expressions. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
If it’s about a keen sense of smell, detecting the foul odor from Kobolds makes sense.
But to detect an underground hall by smell?
This....
"Yes, he is indeed a Mage Apprentice," Reya smiled broadly and said.
Hearing Reya’s words, Chris, Fabian, and the others showed a moment of realization.
Considering Raine’s identity as a Mage Apprentice, some unusual matters had explanations.
Raine wasn’t being upfront; he actually used some magic to investigate but deceived them by claiming it was his sense of smell.
However, since Raine didn’t willingly disclose the magic, they naturally chose not to inquire insensitively.
After all, everyone has their secrets.
"By the way, do any of you know any monsters that fly and like to mix with Kobolds?" Raine asked, throwing out a question he couldn’t figure out at the moment.
Though monsters generally follow a rule where combat power often relates to size, it’s not absolute.
What if those perched at the hall’s ceiling possess some unique abilities?
"Flying monsters that mix with Kobolds?"
Raine’s question immediately caught the attention of the others.
