My Seven Wives in One Body and Me, her Manager-Chapter 87: Let Bygones Be Bygones
As evening approached, Dennis, Daisy, Gary, Olivia, Jason, Kimberly, Ivan, Sasha, Brad, Elisa, Hyunjin, Minji, Akira, and Rika had returned to the city center and were getting ready for dinner at a rooftop restaurant in the middle of town. They had only just arrived because Olivia didn’t wake up until five hours after Dennis, Jason, and Kimberly reached the infirmary, and she still looked weak and sluggish. While waiting there, they had all gotten enough rest, and once Olivia woke up, they left immediately after saying goodbye to Steve and Kamala, taking Ivan’s truck.
They opened their menus and were getting ready to order, then they heard a commotion at the table to their right and looked over. It turned out the six Willow core team members and their supporters were sitting right next to them; they were at a long table made from several joined together because there were about 25 of them, and they seemed to be discussing what to order, getting all hyped up and looking like they were having a blast.
"Ivan, why are they tag-along with us?" Gary asked.
"You heard what Mr. Steve and Ms. Kamala said—it’s better to go together to build some friendship," Ivan replied casually while looking at his menu.
Dennis, Daisy, Gary, Olivia, Jason, and Kimberly started thinking, and they did remember that before they left, Rachel and her team members had come out. Then Brigitte specifically apologized to Olivia, and Natasha also apologized to Daisy, even though she was sulking and looked forced because Margaret had flicked her on the head.
In the end, they actually tagged along to the rooftop restaurant the Ivan team frequented and invited some of their supporters who wanted to join; seeing her students’ intentions, Kamala even offered to pay for everything, including the food for Ivan, Dennis, Daisy, and the others, so no one could refuse out of politeness.
"Haaah... so we’re finally friends, huh? Even though I fought until I passed out, it feels like it was all for nothing," Olivia murmured weakly, still looking a bit pale.
"Drop it, it’s fine, isn’t it? You weren’t the only one who fainted," Gary replied, stroking his wife’s head with a deadpan expression.
"Yeah, exactly. Just relax, Liv," Daisy added. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
"Our goal wasn’t to go looking for enemies anyway, right?" Jason added.
"Now that’s right. Come on, order up, I’m starving," Sasha added while looking at her menu.
"Yeah, for real, I feel bad for the waitress," Kimberly said, glancing at the waitress who was patiently waiting for them to order with a friendly, smiling face.
"Are we really being treated to this?" Dennis asked.
"Now that needs to be confirmed. Mr. Steve and Ms. Kamala haven’t arrived yet, have they?" Brad added.
"They did say they’d follow us here later because they still have business with the guild. If I’m not mistaken, Ms. Vanessa is coming along too, since she was in the control room while we were competing earlier," Minji said.
"Alright, alright... let’s just order. Since it’s on their dime, I’m going to order something I’ve never tried before that’s pretty expensive, hehe," Hyunjin said casually while staring at his menu.
"You’re something else, taking advantage of the situation like that. Unbelievable," Akira teased.
"What should I get? Just follow your lead, babe?" Rika asked, turning to look at Akira.
"I’ll just order for you; I’m sure you’ll love it," Akira answered.
"Okay, agreed. Let’s order," Dennis said cheerfully.
"What do you want, babe?" Brad asked Elisa.
"Anything... as long as there are no carbs. I’m on a diet," Elisa answered.
"Wait... you’re already that skinny, what else is there to diet for? I never diet and I’m still sexy. You’re hopeless," Sasha shot back, leaning her head forward to look at Elisa.
"Shut it," Elisa replied, glaring at Sasha.
"Enough already, let’s just order quickly; we’ll never get to eat at this rate," Ivan scolded, looking serious as he scanned the menu.
Finally, they all placed their individual orders, and the waitress noted everything down on her tablet. Dennis turned to see that the Willow girls also seemed to be starting to order, as a male waiter standing by their table began taking notes on his tablet, even though their voices overlapped because they were all talking at once.
After the waitress left with their orders, "thump," everyone turned; they saw Rachel, Sofia, Margaret, Brigitte, Natasha, and Harumi pushing their table to join it with the table where Daisy and Olivia were sitting at the edge, separating themselves from their supporters—who then pushed their own tables to join them back up again. Then Rachel turned to look at Olivia.
"It was like this back then too, wasn’t it? You remember, at the fast-food place near your school," Rachel said, smiling cheerfully.
"Yep... I remember it clearly; I don’t think I could ever forget," Olivia replied with a bright smile.
Natasha, who was now sitting next to Daisy, turned to eye her from head to toe, then back up again, stopping at her face. Daisy looked at Natasha with a questioning expression.
"What’s up?" Daisy asked casually.
"Nothing... I’m still curious about you. Let’s have a rematch sometime... I need to learn a thing or two from you," Natasha answered, smiling.
"Hmm... sure, sometime," Daisy replied with a smile.
Then the two of them chatted casually and with an ease that made them look like two old friends catching up. They talked about all sorts of things, steering clear of discussing power levels or their match. Dennis felt a bit of relief seeing it; even though Natasha still glanced his way past Daisy every now and then, there clearly wasn’t that look of wanting to claim him for whatever reason on her face—her intentions were clearly just to be friends.
Dennis also noticed that Harumi was talking with Hyunjin and Kimberly, Brigitte was chiming in with Natasha, and Rachel was speaking with Olivia, Daisy, and Gary, while Jason, Sofia, and Margaret chatted with Akira, Rika, Sasha, and Ivan. The girls from Willow also officially introduced themselves to Rika and Elisa. Then Brad moved to the seat in front of Dennis, but before they could start talking,
[Master, look across to your right, right by the railing where it’s a bit dark.]
Dennis turned to look in the direction Sami pointed, his eyes widening when he saw Sean and the members of the Red Wind core team sitting there. Brad, seeing Dennis’s expression change, looked behind him to see what Dennis was looking at. After that, he turned back to look at Dennis.
"Red Wind?" Brad asked.
"Yep... it’s a small world. Looks like they came here too, but the vibe over there seems pretty gloomy," Dennis answered.
"Yeah, you’re right. Maybe since that Sean guy is caught up in a case, they’ve calmed down a bit; otherwise, he and his crew are usually total punks," Brad said.
"You know that Sean guy?" Dennis asked, confused.
"Yeah, Silas works with Sean’s old man. When there are parties, his behavior is just smug and annoying. He actually clashed with me once back in the day when he was hitting on my ex-wife; that’s why when I saw them trashing Jason’s bike, I was truly disgusted just looking at them," Brad answered while turning to look toward the Red Wind students, who didn’t seem to notice their presence—or maybe they did and just didn’t care.
"Oh... I see. This world really is small. So, how’s the progress on your divorce?" Dennis asked curiously.
"Still moving along. According to the lawyer, the data Daisy provided is enough to flip her demands around and strengthen my position. Now, I’m just waiting," Brad answered.
"Nice. Good for you," Dennis replied with a neutral expression, though he gave a thumbs up.
"Thanks. And once again, I’m sorry. My attitude toward you wasn’t good before; I still feel bad about it sometimes," Brad replied.
"It’s in the past. No need to discuss it anymore. I forgave you a long time ago—though not just for your sake, but for mine, because I don’t want to hold onto anger," Dennis said casually.
"True enough. That’s fair," Brad replied with a smile.
Suddenly, "tap," Brad turned and caught a fork that was flying toward Elisa. Immediately Ivan, Sasha, Hyunjin, Minji, Akira, Dennis, Daisy, Olivia, Jason, Kimberly, Rika, Elisa, Rachel, and her team turned to look at Sean and his friends sitting at a secluded table at the very end. It turned out they were staring at their seats, and one of them had thrown the fork; his hand was still in a throwing position.
Their faces looked full of resentment, but it seemed more like envy. However, Sean’s face was clearly glaring sharply at Jason and Kimberly, who glared right back. It was obvious Sean wasn’t just envious; he looked furious and vengeful toward the two of them. But before he could do anything, Rachel suddenly placed her hand on Kimberly’s shoulder as she stood behind her.
"Don’t pay any attention to those pathetic losers from Red Wind," Rachel said.
Then Rachel turned to face Sean and his friends while Harumi, Natasha, Brigitte, Sofia, and Margaret stood beside her. They all glared sharply at Sean’s group, radiating a murderous intent so intense it made Sean and his friends flinch. But they stood up anyway, and the atmosphere suddenly turned tense in an instant. Then, out of nowhere, "swooosh," several streaks of light shot toward the Red Wind core team, passing them right at waist level before vanishing.
"Sreeet."
"Whooah... what is this?!"
The Red Wind students, including Sean, screamed because their pants suddenly dropped to the floor. "Pfft... hahahaha!" Rachel and the others immediately burst out laughing, pointing at the Red Wind core team, followed by Ivan’s and Gary’s teams joining in. The entire restaurant erupted while Sean and his friends’ faces turned livid and red with embarrassment. Dennis, who was laughing, turned to Daisy beside him; she looked calm even though she was smiling.
"Was that your doing, number three?" Dennis asked via telepathy.
"Yep... sorry love, I didn’t ask for permission first," Daisy number three answered.
"It’s fine. It was good that you took action, otherwise a fight could have broken out. I’m hungry and I want to eat; there’s no time for a brawl, right honey?" Daisy number one said.
"Yep, you’re right. Thank you, number three," Dennis said.
"You’re welcome, love. Glad I could help," Daisy number three replied.
Dennis just smiled and reached over to stroke Daisy’s head as she leaned against him. Then, he kissed his wife on the cheek and turned back to watch the red-faced Red Wind students struggling to pull their pants back up.
