My Seven Wives in One Body and Me, her Manager-Chapter 59: Rooftop Conversation
Lunch break came, and Dennis, Jason, and Kimberly went to pick up Daisy at her classroom. Dennis turned to look at Jason and Kimberly.
"Um... why are you guys coming along?" Dennis asked.
"Moral support," Jason answered casually while patting Dennis on the back.
"Yep, exactly—just in case the conversation goes south," Kimberly added.
When they arrived at Daisy’s classroom, Dennis saw her coming out with Gary and Olivia. Then they all walked toward the stairs to head up, with Dennis and Daisy leading the way. Dennis looked back at Gary and Olivia.
"You guys... are coming too?" Dennis asked, confused.
"Of course, man. We’re ready to help if anything goes wrong," Gary answered.
"There’s no way we’re just sitting this out. Don’t mind us; we’re just staying ready, that’s all," Olivia added, waving her hand dismissively.
"Thanks, everyone," Daisy said, looking back with a smile.
"Don’t mention it. You’re my friend, Daisy," Kimberly said.
"Yep... just relax," Jason added.
"The bottom line is we handle this together. I’m pretty pissed myself after reading the chat between Daisy and Bella," Gary said, his annoyance clear despite his flat expression.
"She’s crossed the line with those threats. She’s really harassing you guys. We can report those threats to the police. I know a lawyer; you guys need to send a cease and desist if she keeps bothering you, or a restraining order so she can’t get near you," Olivia said, clearly angry.
"Wow... that’s going a bit far. She only started bothering us today, right honey?" Daisy asked.
"Yeah, just take it easy. Daisy and I are going to settle this matter," Dennis answered.
"Huh... good if that’s the case. Just know that if you need a lawyer, I’m ready," Olivia replied, still annoyed.
"Her dad is a lawyer," Gary said, pointing toward the head of his wife, who was right next to him holding his hand.
"Oh, so that’s how it is," Jason replied, leaning his head out to look at Olivia.
"Hey, I wouldn’t use my dad’s services. He isn’t a family law attorney; he handles corporate stuff," Olivia clarified.
"Okay, relax, Liv," Kimberly replied, putting a hand on Olivia’s shoulder.
They continued walking up toward the roof. When they reached the stairs leading to the top, the six of them were shocked to see Ivan, Sasha, Hyunjin, Minji, Akira, and even Rika already standing in front of the exit door.
"Wow... quite a crowd," Dennis muttered.
"Don’t worry, we don’t mean to interfere. You guys settle your business. Honestly, I wasn’t happy reading the chat you sent, either. His wife has clearly gone too far; Brad deserves better," Ivan said.
"Yep, agreed. Not just my husband, everyone here was annoyed reading it. Now that I know who’s causing the trouble—I actually thought it was you guys at first, so I apologize for making the wrong assumption," Sasha added.
"That’s how it is, but please take it easy on Brad, okay? He’s not himself right now. But I showed him the chat you sent, and he wants to talk to you too," Hyunjin said.
"Don’t let your emotions get the best of you," Minji added.
"Okay, thank you, seniors," Daisy said.
Suddenly, Akira pushed Rika forward. Dennis and Daisy immediately turned to look at Rika, who seemed uncomfortable being there and looked like she’d rather be anywhere else.
"I’m so sorry. Bella is my friend, but I had absolutely no idea she was sending messages like that to Daisy, and I didn’t know she was that obsessed with you, Den. If I had known from the start, I definitely would have talked to her, so I’m sorry," Rika said, nervously wringing her hands.
"Please forgive Rika, okay?" Akira added with a smile, placing a hand on his wife’s shoulder.
"It’s not your fault, obviously. Don’t sweat it," Dennis said.
"Yeah, Bella made her own personal choices, so it has nothing to do with you. We don’t blame you at all," Daisy added.
"But still... I’m sorry. Thank you," Rika replied, looking down.
"Alright, head on out. Brad is waiting," Ivan said, opening the door.
"Okay, thanks man," Dennis replied.
Dennis and Daisy stepped outside together, while Ivan closed the door behind them. The two of them saw Brad perched at the railing. Dennis turned to look at Daisy, who looked back at him; they both nodded and held hands, then walked forward toward Brad and stopped right behind him.
"Brad, we need to talk," Dennis said.
Brad turned and faced them. His face was a complete mess, like someone who hadn’t slept in days... which might actually be the case. His hand was still gripping the folder from the law office. Then, without saying a word, he tossed the folder to Dennis, who caught it.
"Open it and read," Brad said, short but calm.
Dennis opened the folder, and his guess about the contents was right. It was a divorce filing based on emotional abuse committed by Brad, neglect, and unhappiness. Having read it, Dennis looked at Brad, who was turning away to look in another direction while shoving both hands into his pockets and leaning against the railing.
"Is what’s being alleged in these divorce papers true?" Dennis asked.
"So that’s what you think, huh? I work as a hunter with the others, so obviously I’m out of the house a lot, but that doesn’t mean I neglected her, does it? I love her, and there’s no way I was emotionally abusive toward her. And honestly, our relationship has been broken for about eight months now. If anything, I’m the one who was emotionally mistreated because I was constantly being compared to you," Brad answered, turning his head to look away.
"Hmm, I see. But you know, I’m happy with Daisy and this has nothing to do with her. I wanted to talk to you because she’s attacking Daisy—you’ve read the chat, right?" Dennis replied.
"Yeah, I read it. Hyunjin showed it to me. To be honest, my eyes are finally open, and I’m just now seeing what my wife is really like," Brad said.
"So... have you signed it?" Daisy asked.
"Just look for yourself. I haven’t signed it yet," Brad answered shortly.
Daisy read the papers once more. It was true that Brad hadn’t signed yet, but when she read Bella’s demands—wanting 80 percent of the money from their joint account due to emotional stress and asking for alimony until she became stable on the grounds that she was an orphan—Daisy’s hands trembled and her face flushed with anger.
"Has she even worked at all this whole time?" Daisy asked.
"Hah... of course not. I could provide everything. Besides, the joint account was never empty because I was always filling it, but... well, there it is. You read it," Brad answered, looking down, his face showing irritation rather than sadness. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Daisy handed the folder back to Brad, then turned to look at Dennis beside her. Dennis nodded. Immediately, Daisy stepped forward to Brad and showed him her smartphone screen, displaying the results of Daisy number two investigation into Bella and Silas. Brad didn’t seem interested at first, but when he saw a photo of Bella with Silas in a hotel room—both in bathrobes and raising wine glasses—Brad snatched the phone from Daisy.
He immediately scrolled through the screen from top to bottom, looking at the photos, a chat history that apparently went back six months, their dating app profiles, and Silas’s financial records. Brad blinked repeatedly as if what he saw before him was an illusion, but once he realized the data on Daisy’s phone was undeniably real, his expression changed. It wasn’t anger, and it wasn’t sadness; it was a calm clarity, as if every question in his head had been answered.
"I’ve suspected she was cheating for four months now... but it turns out she’s been cheating with my own older cousin... that depraved man, he already has a wife and kids," Brad said calmly, though his voice was heavy and laced with rage.
"That’s the real version of your wife. You deserve better," Dennis said.
Brad lifted his head, finally looking directly at Dennis and Daisy, who both appeared indifferent and calm. He looked down at Daisy’s smartphone in his hand once more to review the evidence, then returned the phone to her and pulled out his own. He opened his chat history with Bella and showed it to Dennis and Daisy. Naturally, they both read it, and they were shocked to find that whenever Bella went out, her excuse was that she was helping Dennis and providing emotional support while Dennis was fighting with Daisy or having other problems.
Daisy cross-referenced the timeline, and it matched perfectly. Every time Bella went out with Silas, she told Brad she was out with Dennis, her childhood friend. Dennis understood immediately why he had been called a safety net and why Bella claimed she needed him back then; it turned out he was being used as a shield for Bella’s affair.
That was also the reason she made a scene on the path from the gate into the school building when she saw Dennis had changed and didn’t recognize him, making it look like Daisy was walking with some man other than Dennis. The reason was that Brad was with her, and she needed to justify that she was there to help Dennis emotionally.
But when she realized that man really was the transformed Dennis, she panicked and immediately looked for another way out by trying to actually get close to Dennis. If Dennis took the bait, she would once again have a perfect alibi for her affair. Everything suddenly became clear.
