Chapter 45: Home Sweet Home

The next day, after finishing their morning training, Dennis, Daisy, Gary, Olivia, Jason, and Kimberly got ready to head home. Based on the agreement they reached during dinner the night before, they decided to return to their respective houses and spend the remaining three days of vacation resting and preparing for the sparring matches once school started back up. When their ride arrived, they immediately loaded all their belongings into the car and climbed inside.

The six of them let out a sigh as they prepared to return to their daily lives, the car moving forward and carrying their mixed emotions along. All along the way, Dennis just stared out the window, watching the beach from a distance before they entered the city streets heading back to the center.

"Hey, Sami, do you think we can win against that team I gave you the data on last night?" Dennis asked inside his head.

[It depends, Master. We don’t know their strategy yet, but in terms of pure power, our team is clearly far superior.]

"Oh... don’t count my wife’s six cheat characters," Dennis said in his head.

[Yes, your wife’s six other personalities are not included. Your friends’ strength is already above average; when combined with your support skills, they are invincible—including your wife in her current state.]

"Hmm... alright, I get it. That means our decision to go home and rest was the right call," Dennis replied.

[Correct, Master. Forcing more training won’t yield results if you are all exhausted and burdened when the time comes.]

Dennis fell silent again and stared outside. Suddenly, he felt Daisy leaning against him; he lifted his arm and pulled his wife into an embrace. The journey took 20 minutes due to the congestion in the city center, which served as the city’s business sector.

Once they arrived at the dorm apartments, Dennis, Daisy, Jason, and Kimberly got out of the car. After unloading their bags and saying goodbye to Gary and Olivia, the car carrying the other two drove off, leaving the four of them standing in front of their apartment complex.

"Okay, we should probably head in," Kimberly said.

"I have to get back to work as a food delivery driver. You want to come along, babe?" Jason asked.

"Of course, I’m in," Kimberly replied.

"What about you two?" Jason asked Dennis and Daisy.

"Hmm... we’re resting for today. Still beat from training this morning," Dennis replied.

"Yeah, that’s right. Besides, we didn’t get much sleep last night," Daisy added.

"Ha... well, obviously you’re short on sleep. You guys are like rabbits—busy all night long, right dude?" Jason teased, nudging Dennis with his elbow.

"We aren’t exactly like rabbits," Dennis replied, his face turning red.

"It’s okay, dude. It’s healthy, no problem," Jason joked.

"Just don’t go getting pregnant too fast, okay? Let’s plan our pregnancies together, right Daisy?" Kimberly asked.

"Got it, don’t worry about it," Daisy replied casually.

While they were standing in front of the apartment complex, a luxury car suddenly pulled up across the street. The faces of Dennis, Daisy, Jason, and Kimberly instantly froze in shock as they saw Bella step out of the high-end vehicle. It was clearly driven by a man who looked to be in his 40s—definitely not Bella’s father.

Dennis and the others ducked behind a fence, watching Bella on the other side as she busied herself with her smartphone. Her makeup made her look far more mature than she should, and her outfit was incredibly revealing, showing off every curve of her body.

A moment later, another luxury car arrived and stopped right in front of her. A man around 35 years old got out to meet her. He immediately pulled Bella into a hug and kissed her cheek. From their body language, it was obvious they weren’t just friends; they looked like an intimate couple who were very used to each other’s touch.

The man opened the car door for Bella, then walked back to the driver’s side and climbed in. As the car drove away, Dennis, Daisy, Jason, and Kimberly emerged from their hiding spot, completely stunned.

"That was Bella, right? And those two guys dropping her off and picking her up... they definitely aren’t her husband," Kimberly said.

"Looks like the rumors are true. She really is a bad girl," Jason replied.

"Hmm... so she really is like that," Dennis muttered.

"Are you okay, honey? She was your childhood friend, wasn’t she?" Daisy asked, searching Dennis’s face.

"It’s fine, whatever she does is none of my business and I couldn’t care less," Dennis answered, his voice relaxed and indifferent, his face remaining completely flat.

"Okay, good. I’m proud of you," Daisy said, looking a bit relieved.

"Forget it, let’s just let it be. Let’s go inside—we have to head back out soon, right babe?" Kimberly prompted.

"Yeah, you’re right. Let’s go, dude. Let’s head in," Jason said to Dennis.

"Okay, let’s go," Dennis replied.

They stepped into the lobby of their apartment complex, then headed to their respective elevators since they lived in different towers. When they stepped out of the elevator upstairs, Dennis and Daisy, carrying their bags, were startled to see Brad standing in front of their door. He looked confused, as if he wanted to knock or ring the bell but was hesitating.

Dennis and Daisy immediately linked hands and walked toward their unit. Brad turned and seemed a bit surprised to see them just coming out of the elevator, as the doors were still open and just beginning to slide shut. He glanced back at the apartment door and then looked at Dennis again, his face showing he had a lot of questions. He then walked over to Dennis and Daisy.

"Hey, where have you guys been?" Brad asked, his voice sharp and rude, as if he still held some kind of authority over Dennis.

"Huh? Why do you want to know where me and my wife have been? It’s none of your business, right?" Dennis asked firmly.

"Did Bella go with you?" Brad asked.

"Why are you asking that? You can see for yourself, my wife and I just got back," Dennis shot back.

"I see... Bella said she was going to your place... but you two just got home... whatever, sorry, I’m out," Brad replied curtly.

Without waiting for an answer, Brad walked straight past Dennis, even intentionally shouldering him, which made Dennis’s blood boil with rage. But before Dennis could act, Daisy squeezed his hand and shook her head. Dennis let out a long sigh to release his anger, pulled the keys from his pocket, and opened the apartment door.

After going inside and closing the door, the two of them immediately checked the condition of the place, and it turned out everything was exactly as they had left it a few days ago.

The two of them returned to the living room and sat close together in the middle of their couch, both silent, leaving the apartment in a heavy quiet. A moment later,

"Why would that guy come here looking for his wife? Weird," Daisy said.

"Forget it, let it be. The important thing is we’re home now and can rest," Dennis said.

"Hmm, one second," Daisy said.

Suddenly, Daisy shifted into Daisy Number Two. She summoned three bats equipped with cameras and carrying smartphones on their backs, then ordered them to fly out through the living room window and spread out. By the time Dennis looked back at Daisy, she had already changed back into Daisy Number One.

"Hey, what are you doing?" Dennis asked.

"Number Two wants to investigate what’s actually going on. Don’t worry, just leave it to her," Daisy Number One, the primary, answered.

"Why do you care about Bella and Brad?" Dennis asked, finally voicing the curiosity that had been weighing on him.

"I don’t want them bothering us. And based on what that jerk said, I won’t let Bella use us... use you as a shield for whatever she’s doing. I really won’t have it," Daisy said, looking annoyed and pouting.

"Hmm... you have a point. Alright, I’ll leave it to Number Two, but don’t do anything reckless yet. It’s not because I’m protecting them; I just don’t want to get involved in other people’s business," Dennis said, putting his arm around his wife.

"Yes, honey, don’t worry. I know the limits," Daisy replied, resting her head on Dennis’s chest. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

"Ah... finally we’re home. Home sweet home," Dennis said, relaxing.

"Yeah, huaaah... I’m sleepy. Want to sleep?" Daisy asked.

"Actually sleep?" Dennis asked.

"What, are we rabbits? This time, we’re actually sleeping," Daisy answered.

"Okay, let’s just stay here. I’m too lazy to move to the bedroom," Dennis replied.

"Yeah, right here," Daisy replied, smiling and snuggling into Dennis’s body.

Finally, the two of them looked completely relaxed, clinging to each other on the couch. They began to close their eyes for a nap in their own home, thinking of nothing but being together. Meanwhile, Number Two’s three bats were hard at work out there, gathering data to protect them in case something threatened their future.
