Anput PoV

"I notice you've been taking yourself out of the lineup for as many trials as you can, Anput? Surely that isn't ideal for you, no?"

It was awfully fascinating just how soothing and sensual Kat's voice could be, and how just hearing it helped ease some of my unknown tensions without me even really realizing it, so as always I was just beyond happy to have her hovering around me like some kind of mother hen.

And I mean, with that body of hers she really was a mother in waiting, now wasn't she~?

Honestly, the conversation we had had not so long ago was still lingering in my mind, that knowledge that the woman in front of me - my woman - was no completely unguarded and waiting for one of us three to claim her properly... it was enough to make me salivate sometimes.

Like throwing a thick slab of steak in front of a ravenous dog I was straining against my chains and yearning to devour her whole whenever I saw her, but control was something I had come to learn during these days spent here, even if I wanted to be free of it.

When we got back home I was going to start hiding that herb if I ever found it, that's for damn sure... I was a bit tired of waiting, and unless there was a truly valid reason for us to keep taking it I was more then prepared to have some pups.

Looking up at her, I paused my organizing and focused on her warm, amused hazel eyes, losing myself in them for a breath or two and wondering when it had become one of my favorite colors, only to chuckle as I noticed how sappy I was getting.

"It isn't ideal, sure, but I've picked my trials carefully. All of the materials you, Jahi and Leone get come to me anyways, and the others have agreed that we should get started on the upgrades sooner rather then later, so yet again I am relegated to a backline role.

You're all lucky I'm just as in love with blacksmithing as I am with fighting, because otherwise none of us would be getting better gear anytime soon. Besides, the trials I have picked are the ones that benefit me immensely, and the rest are just bland."

That got her to tilt her head as she mentally reviewed the list of trials we had taken note of, and for that brief moment of silence I lost myself in her beauty, tracing out the features of my beloved to further engrave it into my soul before listening dutifully as she turned her gaze back onto me.

"All of the ones you've chosen have related to Fire Mana, mana efficiency, and other intangible rewards, right? You haven't wanted to get your hands on something yourself? Get your hands dirty and do some gathering yourself?"

"No, not particularly. I'd rather get myself caked in soot and ash than blood for the time being. I have some things to make, y'know, for everyone. Armor first, really, since all of you seem determined to come back with more scratches, scrapes, bruises and every other injury possible."

Kat gave me a fake offended expression, her plump lips parting to form an 'o' as she looked at me like I was pulling her leg, only to snicker as I raised a brow at her after she added the clutching of her collar to be even more dramatic.

"Us? Getting injured? Never..."

"Kat, you came back with what you called a minute fracture along your entire femur along with a few nasty cuts to your arms. Jahi broke her wrist and was stabbed twice while Mom Chordeva had an even nastier cut from the base of her neck down to her hip, which also tore up her armor pretty badly."

"What? No..."

She was still playing coy with this, but we both knew it happened and that my time was better spent out here rather then in any of those trials and that was a fact, especially when their armor started getting damaged.

As if to prove my point Lady Fenyras sauntered over and dropped her pauldron into my hands as she said "Hey mutt, I need this fixed up soon. The straps are loose and the padding is torn...", giving me work like it was the most natural thing in the world.

Her eyes flicked between Kat and I for a few moments as she looked us both over before turning on her heel and leaving us alone; her gaze was something that still made my skin crawl a little whenever it was directed at the two of us in particular because I could feel the instinctual weight of it all too keenly.

Thankfully her control was still in place and we hadn't done something to provoke that side of her too much, so despite being a tad annoyed that the Demon Wolf had just dropped her work onto me without any care I just took the piece of armor and began to study it closely.

What needed to be done, what materials we had and what I was required to do in order to get it into functioning order, maybe even improve it... it was easier to think of that then get angry at her for wanting the protection and security that this piece of armor provided.

"I still don't like her..."

"Well, we don't have to like her, Kat, we just need to have her with us. Now, I think what I'm going to start doing is working inside of the barrier to make use of the time distortion, so... yeah... We're going to need to get that figured out sometime soon."

"Oh~? Then that means you might just be in a spot where the others can't see you..."

My mate gently laid one of her hands on my shoulder, drumming her fingers against me and flashing me a seductive grin as she implied something nice, something that I was definitely for...
