Murphy had to admit, he had underestimated his adorable little players.
After listening to Lumina’s strategy, as a full-fledged vampire, he stood stunned in the woods for a dozen seconds before regaining his senses. frёewebnoѵēl.com
By that time, his gaze towards Lumina, who was looking innocent, had turned quite complicated.
He knew players always enjoyed pulling some abstract stunts, but this…hisss.
Even by the moral standards of a super villain, this was crossing a line.
Though, by the negative moral standards of a vampire — a member of the Midnight loved ones — it seemed perfectly suitable.
Could it be that this seemingly sunny exchange student was naturally a dark humorist, possibly even with a tinge of sadistic tendencies?
Could she be really be so ruthless?
Murphy only hesitated for a few seconds before he made up his mind.
“Your suggestion carries some risks, I need to think about it carefully.”
Murphy, as a NPC should be, replied courteously to Lumina.
He then took out the weapons and armors from his Spiritual Energy pouch around his waist to give to the little players to try on and let them familiarize themselves with their capabilities.
This included some alchemical explosives and a massively powerful but incredibly heavy Automatic Hunting Crossbow that he had confiscated from the witch hunters.
“Why are they all cold weapons!”
About twenty minutes later, Meow Brother and his party returned with some specialists.
Happy Stick, carrying a notebook offered by Murphy, had made many sketches and notations.
He had already found a location suitable for an ambush within the woods, but his hope plummeted once he saw the weapons and armor available to his team.
“I’m not familiar with combat involving cold weapons.”
Happy Stick brandished a Swift Sword with a vampire-style design a few times and spoke somewhat awkwardly to Meow Brother:
“But I know a few guys who are good with military group combat.
Their WindMill Sword Skill is pretty impressive…”
“Let’s discuss that later, can we make these things work or not?”
Meow Brother waited for the results, while Happy Stick examined the current gear and brightened when he spotted the Automatic Hunting Crossbow.
He quickly stepped forward, fiddled with it a few times, and after hearing from Bull Bull about its rapid-firing capabilities, he gave it some thought and then slapped his thigh, exclaiming:
“Mount this thing on the carriage!
Make a simple armored carriage to use it as a firing platform.
That girl over there!
I heard from Meow Brother that you’re a good shot, right?
You can be the sniper then.
I can also serve as our long-range expert for a bit, and we can use these black bombs to make some landmines or something.”
Happy Stick haughtily sat down, gesturing, and said:
“If we’re going to start the operation tomorrow, then we have to start digging trenches now.
They have soldiers with guns.
Even if their firepower is only that of World War I, we still need a few foxholes.
If possible, we also need to dig an anti-tank ditch!
They are delivering military supplies, so they definitely won’t be carrying it all by hand.
Since they have vehicles, an anti-tank ditch would surely come in handy.
The road through the forest on their side is already abandoned; they have only one way to go.
It’s a pity there isn’t enough gunpowder.
Otherwise, we could set up some ruthless cannons or something…”
“Your suggestions are getting more and more criminal.”
Meow Brother rolled his eyes, but then a thought struck him and he immediately went to give Murphy a heads-up.
Upon hearing that the players were planning to stay overnight to dig trenches, Murphy was taken aback.
He had no issue with the players staying as free labor.
After all, he had already made his report about the Blood Servant to Miss Phemys.
He was just surprised that the little players were more energetic about this than he was.
But then he thought, they’re not the ones who are actually going to die, so it’s like a military game for them, which is far more enjoyable than his situation.
“Sure!”
Murphy nodded and said:
“I’ll get you some tools.
Do what you have to do.”
After saying this, he left the small woods and left the rest of the work to his little players.
He then returned to his carriage with Maxim and called Milian onto the carriage.
“I have a mission for you.”
Murphy took a deep breath and quietly said to Milian:
“I will distract Miss Phemys’ servants, and you will slip into the carriage where the witch hunter prisoners are being held.
They have been tortured by the vampires for two nights, but they should still be conscious.”
“What are you planning to do?”
Milian looked horrified.
She realized things were going south, but Murphy gave her no chance to object.
Instead, he relayed his subsequent words to her through ventriloquism.
Listening to his words, her eyes kept growing wider.
Toward the end, she was so terrified that she covered her ears and screamed:
“You’re crazy!
If they find out, we’re going to…”
“That’s why we won’t let them find out!
Don’t worry, this is how we vampires do things.
Even if word gets out, other vampires will just applaud me for my ruthlessness and I in turn will happily accept their praise.
The issue is that you need to act immediately.”
Murphy covered Milian’s mouth and told her:
“Don’t be afraid, at noon when the sun is at its hottest, even vampires like Miss Phemys have to sleep in their coffins.
As long as you’re not foolhardy enough to lift their coffin lids, no one will jump out and harm you.
All you need to do is deliver a message!
Think about it.
Even if the witch hunter captives refuse to cooperate, they won’t betray you!
Even if they did, the vampires would only dismiss it as a vicious attempt to sow discord.”
