Chapter 251: Chapter 250: Help Me Up!
Chapter 251 -250: Help Me Up!
Knock knock.
Soft knocking echoed in the quiet work studio.
Chen Yixin jolted, startled, and quickly tucked away her pink cell phone before donning her glasses and attempting to smooth her disheveled hair.
After a flurry of hurried grooming, securing that nothing was amiss, Chen Yixin cleared her throat.
“Come in.”
The door was gently pushed open, “Professor Chen, I’ve made you a cup of coffee.”
Entering was a girl with braided pigtails, wearing a white lab coat that looked a bit unsophisticated.
She carefully placed the coffee on the table, stole a glance at Chen Yixin, then whispered with her head lowered, “Director Song asked me to tell you that military visitors are here, and they wish to see you immediately.”
Chen Yixin took a sip of the coffee and was just about to speak when her gaze fell upon her bunny slippers that she had kicked away.
Standing with her coffee in hand, she positioned herself to block the girl’s view, and spoke nonchalantly, “Isn’t there still plenty of time before we depart? What are they doing here so early?”
“Um… I… I don’t know either.” The girl responded, fidgeting and shaking her head, causing her braids to swing like a drum rattle.
Chen Yixin pinched her nose bridge, feeling a headache coming on, and waved dismissively, “Alright, you can go now. I’ll head over in a bit.”
The girl bowed to Chen Yixin, “Goodbye, Professor Chen!”
Slam!
Once the door closed again, Chen Yixin slumped into her chair, lifted her foot, and flicked her other bunny slipper away.
Muttering to herself, she grumbled, “I hate dealing with those stinky, stubborn guys the most!”
…
Inside the Paleontology Institute’s reception room, Director Song of the institute was accompanying two young men in military uniform, both standing with ramrod-straight postures.
Director Song, who appeared to be in his forties, poured tea with a beaming smile, “Comrades, please have some tea.”
The two young officers seemed somewhat impatient, continually checking the time, “Director Song, may I ask when Professor Chen will be here?”
At that moment, someone knocked on the door of the reception room. As they all turned their heads, they saw a young woman in a white lab coat standing at the doorway, not strikingly beautiful but possessing an exceptional demeanor.
“Ah, here comes Xiao Chen now. Comrades, this is Professor Chen Yixin from our institute,” Director Song introduced her warmly, standing up: “Xiao Chen, these comrades are here to see you.”
The two men in uniform promptly stood, saluting Chen Yixin, “Nice to meet you, Professor Chen.”
“Hello, comrades,” Chen Yixin replied perfunctorily, finding the formality somewhat awkward.
After the introductions were over, Director Song interjected, “Don’t just stand, please sit and talk.”
Encouraged by Director Song’s warm hospitality, everyone took their seats around the tea table. Chen Yixin, struggling to stay awake, hoped the meeting would end quickly.
“Professor Chen, we will be leading a special forces team to provide comprehensive protection for your expedition to the South Pole. The team conducted a risk assessment of your itinerary, and we’ve identified certain high-risk areas…”
“Just get to the point, I’m tired after working all night and am quite sleepy,” Chen Yixin interrupted, barely keeping her eyes open as they rambled on.
The two young men exchanged glances, “We believe that departing from Liaodong Port is not a good choice, both in terms of sailing time and safety. Departing from Zhoushan Port or Shanghu Port would be safer.”
“The request report has already been sent, and the Ice-breaking Dragon vessel is already docked at Liaodong Port. What’s the point of telling me this now?”
“Considering your safety, we can reapply for a port berth. But why insist on choosing Liaodong Port? According to the information we have, Luo…”
“Cough.” Another young man nudged his companion with his elbow, “Professor Chen, with the weather turning frigid as it is now, Liaodong Port has already entered the freezing period. If we choose to depart from there, we’ll end up frozen on the sea surface…”
Chen Yixin rolled her eyes, “Isn’t our research vessel an icebreaker ship?”
“This…”
The two military personnel looked at each other and shook their heads with a wry smile, pondering for a moment, “Professor Chen, the commander has entrusted us with full responsibility for your safety. After our assessment, Liaodong Port is not the best point of departure.”
“I have my reasons for choosing Liaodong, there’s no need to discuss it further,” Chen Yixin stood up and glanced over the two men’s arm badges, “If there’s nothing else, I’ll be leaving now.”
Watching Chen Yixin’s retreating figure, Director Song said with a wry smile, “Comrade, look at the situation this has caused…”
The two soldiers exchanged a helpless glance and got up to leave.
…
Yundu City airport’s waiting hall…
Clatter.

The sign that read ‘Waiting Hall’ was blown away by the cold wind, making a heavy clattering noise upon impact.
In front of them lay a vast expanse of rundown buildings, once the main structures covered a large area. Collapsed walls and broken remnants were overgrown with dead grass, partially concealing the airport.
Shao Zifeng looked at the scene before him with doubt and turned to Cang Haiyuan, “Are you sure we’re waiting for a plane here?”
Cang Haiyuan’s jacket billowed in the wind, and the mask on his fingers trembled slightly as he nodded with a serious expression, “Yes–cough, yes.”
“But this doesn’t look like a place where a plane could land at all… and what are you shaking for?”
Cang Haiyuan stiffened at the words, his smile rigid, “Laughable–I’m not shaking at all, I–I’m a Combat Training Master who specializes in ice attacks.”
“You clearly…”
“No talking, the plane’s coming!”
No sooner had he spoken than a rumbling sound came from the sky, and the horizon already showed a hint of dawn. The rising sun illuminated the skyline of Yundu City, looking incredibly beautiful.
The small dot in the rosy clouds of the distant sky slowly approached, the rumbling growing more and more thunderous.
Shao·Unsophisticated·Zifeng craned his neck to gaze at the approaching military transport plane and marveled, “It’s huge.”
“Isn’t it!” Cang Haiyuan twirled the mask in his hands, his face beaming with vicarious pride, “This is because of the face given to Professor Chen that it has come to pick us up.”
The approaching military transport plane’s roaring sound echoed through the sky.
Whoosh~
The transport plane lowered its altitude, skimming over their heads. The powerful wind pressure, along with the roar, was emotionally overwhelming, causing even Shao Zifeng to cry out involuntarily along with the sound of the plane.
Thump.
The large transport plane stirred up a violent windstorm, causing Cang Haiyuan to sway unstably in the turbulent air. He felt as if the bone-chilling wind was about to sweep him away and, losing his balance, he sat down on the icy ground.
Shao Zifeng’s attention was wholly fixed on the transport plane circling in the sky, completely oblivious to Cang Haiyuan’s predicament.
Looking up at Shao Zifeng, the morning sun of winter slowly rose from the horizon. Cang Haiyuan finally gave up on maintaining his composure and reached out a trembling hand.
“Help me up.”
