My Perfect Female CEO-Chapter 1061: The Trap
Since there was suspicion about Lin Zhihao, contacting Zhang Lu at this moment naturally had a certain purpose, and necessary means had to be employed.
Zhang Lu headed straight to the designated meeting place made by Lin Zhihao.
Inside the café on the third floor near the window, Zhang Lu’s appearance prompted Lin Zhihao to stand up and look at her.
"Zhang Lu, long time no see." Lin Zhihao stood up and moved the chair, displaying full gentlemanly manners. After Zhang Lu sat down, he returned to his seat.
"What would you like to drink?" Lin Zhihao asked with a smile, preempting the server’s line.
At this moment, the server also approached Zhang Lu.
"Lemon water," Zhang Lu responded without hesitation.
"Please wait a moment." The server left.
Actually, ever since Zhang Lu appeared, there were plenty of eyes secretly watching the suspicious people around her. A couple who entered the café along with her were under strict surveillance.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Zhang Lu asked interestedly, feeling somewhat uneasy with Lin Zhihao’s probing gaze.
"Sometimes I just don’t get it. Rich kids like you, from a red family, with strong backing and a clear future, why do you make life so hard for yourself, working so tirelessly? What’s it all for?" Lin Zhihao inquired.
"As the saying goes, different paths lead to different goals. It’s that simple. I admit, every country has its scoundrels, but without those sons and daughters of Huaxia who shed blood and tears, our nation wouldn’t be so strong today. Even in peaceful times, we still need sacrifices and defense." Zhang Lu declared firmly, "I’m part of that. As for you, I won’t say much, because you wouldn’t understand without that awareness."
"Actually, in some aspects, we are alike. Your belief is serving the people; mine is money." Lin Zhihao countered.
"Ha!" Zhang Lu scoffed.
"I know, deep down you look down on me. In your eyes, I’m just a lowlife scumbag." Lin Zhihao interpreted the ’Ha!’ with his own understanding.
"That’s what you said, I said nothing." Zhang Lu replied.
At this moment, Zhang Lu’s phone rang a few times. As she took out her phone to check, the server arrived with the lemon water she ordered, but slipped while placing it on the table, splashing water all over Zhang Lu’s chest.
Zhang Lu was startled and stood up, putting her phone on the table, looking displeased at the server.
"Are you blind? What kind of service is this, getting my friend’s clothes wet? Can you afford to compensate? Call the manager. I’m going to ask if you want to keep your job." Lin Zhihao stood up and reprimanded angrily.
"I’m so sorry, ma’am, and sir, truly sorry, I didn’t intend it. Please don’t call the manager; I’ll be fired if you do. Please have mercy and don’t make a fuss." The server bowed in apology, terrified, bowing back and forth to Zhang Lu and Lin Zhihao, pleading for forgiveness.
Zhang Lu’s initial displeasure faded upon hearing Lin Zhihao’s harsh reprimand and the server’s sincere apology. She softly said, "You can leave; it’s not your fault."
The server retreated gratefully.
"You’re too kind-hearted; the server deserves punishment if they can’t even manage this much work." Lin Zhihao said, walking over to Zhang Lu and holding her arm. "I’ll take you to the restroom to handle this."
"No need, I’ll go myself." Zhang Lu shook off Lin Zhihao’s arm and headed alone to the restroom.
Zhang Lu left her phone behind, which was exactly what Lin Zhihao wanted to happen.
The server earlier was naturally arranged by Lin Zhihao, and the reason Zhang Lu’s phone rang was also part of his plan. A junk message prompted Zhang Lu to take out her phone, and then the server made their entrance.
Watching Zhang Lu’s figure disappear from view, Lin Zhihao calmly took Zhang Lu’s phone and inserted the Golden Shield, starting a 30-second countdown.
In a moment, Lin Zhihao used the Golden Shield given by Lin Zhize to transform Zhang Lu’s phone successfully into a listening device.
Lin Zhihao was unaware that everything he did was captured by a camera from a remote-controlled helicopter outside the window.
When Zhang Lu returned, her phone was placed exactly where it was before.
"I’m really sorry for wetting your clothes. If I’d known the servers here were so clumsy, I’d have chosen another place. The discomfort caused to you is entirely my fault." Lin Zhihao apologized politely.
"No problem." Zhang Lu said indifferently, then went straight to the point, "What did you bring me here for? It’s not just about catching up, is it?"
"Catching up, purely catching up. But if there’s something, well, there is." Lin Zhihao smiled awkwardly, "I have a brother, maybe you’ve heard of him. He has deep business ties with Hengyuan Logistics Company. I’m told the company’s boss has run into trouble. My brother asked me to check the news, to see what kind of trouble Hengyuan has run into."
"Hengyuan Logistics Company?" Zhang Lu searched her memory before recalling, "That’s Wu Changqing’s company, right?"
"Seems to be a Wu, some boss." Lin Zhihao said uncertainly.
Both Zhang Lu and Lin Zhihao maintained a vague attitude.
"It’s related to a case of kidnapping innocent women." Zhang Lu disclosed partially, then became wary, "By the way, your brother, he’s called Lin Zhize, right? When we were in the forces, he often came to visit you. Pardon me, what kind of business does your brother run?"
Zhang Lu naturally redirected suspicion towards Lin Zhize, since he had business dealings with Wu Changqing, and now Wu was in trouble, which could implicate Lin Zhize.
Lin Zhihao, sly as ever, understood the subtext of Zhang Lu’s words and helplessly said, "Zhang Lu, you wouldn’t be suspecting my brother, would you? He’s a law-abiding citizen. Wu Changqing’s trouble caused quite a loss for him. I’m here for that cause. If my brother did anything illegal, would I turn myself in?" 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
"What does your brother do, if you don’t mind sharing?" Zhang Lu asked curiously.
"Seems to be in tech, but I’m not sure exactly what." Lin Zhihao answered seriously.
He certainly wouldn’t be truthful, even if Zhang Lu could verify it, it would take time, and he naturally had his concerns.
Zhang Lu and Lin Zhihao probed each other, trying to glean information from each other’s words without revealing much useful information.
Soon, the two parted ways on an unhappy note, each going their way.
Lin Zhihao was relieved, believing Zhang Lu had fallen into his trap.
Not really!
